- Could this Analogman Prince of Tone Clone be even better than the Demon FX Prince of Sound. We take a look at this 4-mode blues overdrive/distortion with the Mosky Audio Compass Drive. Settle in as we take it through it's paces and unlock every tone imaginable with this versatile take on the classic analogue man circuit based on a heavily modified Marshall Bluesbreaker. Can Mosky take on the big boys and bring us those classic transparent overdrive tones we know and love at a price we can't resist? Let's find out...
Big thanks to the sponsor of this show www.affordaboard.co.uk , who offer these with none of the wait time you get from ordering direct from China. They offer incredible prices, often beating the direct prices and supply with free UK shipping (or international shipping available, message him for details).
If you like these reviews and demos, don't forget to drop me a comment and let me know. By dropping a comment there, you will please the algorithm gods and make my videos more visible, which would be awesome. If you have one of these yourself, let me know how you are getting on with it yourself in a comment or a video response, I'd love to hear how it is getting on in your rig through different amps and guitars.
The demo gear in this video is all run through Practical Patch cables, including instrument cables and patch cables. These are using some top-quality components, including Neutrik jacks and Van Damme cable and are hand-assembled and tested in the UK. After having off-the-shelf cables for years and suffering failures again and again, I bought some Practical Patch cables and have been happier than ever with them. They also don’t cost you the Earth, which some other hand made cable companies seem to do. If you want to find out more, head over to www.practicalpatch.co.uk to see what they have to offer.

Just bought one, love how it sounds with less drive, almost like the tubes crunching a little bit in a clean channel tube amp when you hit the strings hard, and stay clean with a soft play. Will use it that way and to push my TS9 and OD3, like a booster.
@@adamkaminski sounds glorious. Let me know how you get on 👍
I was so impressed with the Mosky audio M series that I bought
Big Fuzz
Marksman
Compass Drive
Pre Amp.
Yeah, they've really crammed a whole bunch into each pedal. Mosky do make some great stuff too
Love it! The M mode sounded really nice 👌🏻
They've really dialled that m mode in well. It's got a lot of sparkle and clarity
Cool! I hope you get a bunch of Mosky pedals to demo!
I think I might even have 1 more in the batch I've got so far. I might even do a Vs with this and the demon FX one.
@@BudgetPedalChap they make some really nice and affordable pedals
Been on the list for 2 years now... My Les Paul has 61 BB in it so isn't dark but really liked the way this sounded. My used Blues Driver was cheap and sounds great.
I have heard it can take as long as 4 years. You'll be surprised to know, I'm not on that list 😂😂 it doesn't quite meet budget pedal standards for me. I love the circuit though and this and the demon are great
@@BudgetPedalChap I don't know how long I'm going to keep it but in this video you've proven I have the option to recover my money still have enough left over to purchase this very good clone. Chappie the pedal Sherpa!
And I just checked, They're now delivering for anyone who orders prior to May 7th 2018 so I have at a minimum 3 years to go. That's 5 years! Might as well go ahead and buy this one I can do a comparison and report back to you what you likely already know in five years and $300 is it required to get the sound.
Man I love this channel :))
Aww, thanks 👍
I have one in my set and. Wow, Thats great!!
Yeah, I was really impressed when I played it
Great pedal great demo thanks as always!
Cheers, thanks for the kind words gent 👍
This has a nice sound, I'm diggin it!
Yeah, it's got a bit of versatility with that voice switch and mode knob too. For £35, it's hard to not enjoy this one
Great review. I purchased one. The "spiky at the top end" you mentioned can be ajusted with the internal trimpot. The factory setup is at maximum treble and it's verry difficult to find a good tone for the Les Paul, for example. I adjusted mine to the minimum and it's a new pedal. Great tome. Amazing. Rgds from Brazil.
That's very interesting to know 👍 thanks for the tip cheers
Yeah, this one is a winner 🏆
It's a great sounding pedal for sure. They are pretty dang affordable too. Which was your favourite mode?
@@BudgetPedalChapI like the od and the m mode most 👍
thank you for great reviews as always...bat can you please change the font? its very hard to read
I'll look at some easier to read alteernative, thanks for letting me know 👍
Good job
Cheers, thanks very much
Right now a Rockett Blue Note & Xotic Soul Saver you sound great ant cool pedals
@@davidqueen5098 why thank you good sir. Thanks for checking out a few of these videos, it means a lot to me 👍
Listening on phone isn't ideal, but i could hear some nice crunches here and there
It's a decent bit of kit, adds a lot of versatility to the simple 3 knob overdrive 👍
When you describe a tone as "glassy", what exactly do you mean? Just wondering.
@@801guitar3 a pronounced high end usually. It's got a sparkly quality to the upper frequencies without being harsh 👍
thanks for those demos! i think the rat is the only one worth buying
I think there is a klon one too that I've not tried yet. I liked the muff too tbf 👍
The King Rat is fantastic!
Which one better? This or DemonFX? And which one looks more "red"? Sorry I binge your videos as I'm looking for budget red pedals. Subscribed too btw, good job
They're both pretty much the same tone of red, not sure there is enough difference to matter. I like the simplicity of the demon a bit more, but they're both good enough that I'd use them to gig 👍 no worries at all, binge away and feel free to ask any questions 😊
@@BudgetPedalChap any recommendation for a more "traditional red" OD and distortion? Currently have a Hotone Ampero, ZVex Fuzzolo, and EWS Little Brute. Originally looking for Keeley Red Dirt, but they're hard to find nowadays. A lot of red overdrive distortion are out of my budget
@@BudiPrasetyoHarsono if you can source a danelectro cool cat distortion, I'm pretty sure that is based on the DS-1 and is fire truck red. He controls are a bit of a pain to adjust but it looks cool and sounds good 👍
@@BudgetPedalChap wow, thanks! I'm going to looking for it
How many times you see This vídeo?
:Yes
@@saysrta cheers for watching 👍
My favourite style of drive and this holds up for sure!
It does have the sound huh?
@@BudgetPedalChap yeah, might have to pick this one up see if it stacks up in my rig.
I would like to see how this pushes a caline pure sky
I'm sure I can make that dream a reality 👍
Great pedal but I didn't find a shop to buy one. Where did you get it?
www.affordaboard.co.uk has them in stock and does free UK shipping 👍
@@BudgetPedalChap that's a good deal, unfortunately I am not from the UK.
@@scentia_est he does international shipping too, just drop him a message and he can give you a quote
Maybe a Joyo Maximum Overdrive and Joyo Oxford Sound? I would love to hear if those two get along.
I've not tried it, but I can tell you the maximum sits in that kind of upper mid range which the noise floor sits for the Oxford sound. I'm almost certain it'd make the noise much worse
can it sound like a treble booster?
@@Pedro-kg3ri not really, it doesn't quite do that but the Gokko Salem boost does 👍
Are there MA856 diodes inside?
I'm not sure, I don't think they mention it in the write up for it.
I tested this and tbh the diodes don’t make a huge difference, any change they do make can be minimized with the gain knob
Mosky crunch pro... Nobody show this pedal on TH-cam. I'm too curious 😂
I've not heard of the crunch pro. It's it a new pedal?
Mosky and Demonfx are from the same company.
The Mosky boys are obviously trying to get a one up over the demon boys in their quarterly 😂😂😂
