    Thanks, Daniel, again! I am very appreciative of these recent videos highlighting misattributed coin issues. I hope the knowledge being shared finds a way to all those eBay sellers who really have no idea what they're doing. On the flip side, I hope buyers don't fall for all of the fake errors and even call out those sellers to go find some education.

    I really understand why so many try to make something out of nothing. Just went through $50.00 in pennies and not a single class1 or 2 doubled die ,no close or wide AMs, no off weights. Just lots and lots of damage, about 70 kinds. Did find many coins that "should" grade well and what are probably some lesser value doubled dies which will go in a roll in storage.
    If it was easy everyone would get two boxes of coins from the bank, pick through it, and retire comfortably.
    I'm fairly new to coin collecting,,, but my heart races when I see a 69s , lol... and there is something oddly satisfying about going through coins.

    When buying any coin I always ask myself now, "Why do you want this specific coin?" The answer determines whether or not it gets bought but in my experience the more I stack the less I collect coins because most coin dealers are frauds and scheisters who misrepresent their inventory to dupe newbies.

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      FALSE :
      "most coin dealers are frauds and scheisters who misrepresent their inventory to dupe newbies."
      The TRUTH:
      There's frauds in EVERY business and it's not MOST coin dealers..

    • @celticknot5678
      @celticknot5678 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoinHELPu TRUE
      If it's not graded by PCGS or NGC then it's subject to human motivations and a subjective evaluation of the coin's value. When an uneducated buyer breaks out 100's then I highly doubt any coin dealer will object. In my limited experience the mass majority of supposed coin dealers overestimate the grade and value of their raw coins.

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Everyone, collectors and dealers alike often want their coins to be a higher grade, that is human nature but doesn't mean motivation is nefarious in nature. Ultimately if you can't make a deal then you can't, but most dealers I know respect my knowledge when I tell them the real condition of their coins. It's the reason I preach for people to educate themselves.

    I must be a very odd character, because I can't even imagine putting coins in the cupholder of my car. I mean, you are putting something that could perhaps be valuable in a holder that is for your study drink or coffee as you drive, NOT your money!
    Yes even a penny!
    I've never tossed my change in the cupholder in my car. All my coin change from breaking a bill goes into a little coin purse then once at home I separate the pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, etc and they all go into their own container into I get around to looking at them.
    I am NO coin expert in any way. I have some collections I have no idea if worth anything. I just happen to like coins, their history, what they have been made from in the past and currently.
    I just like coins. It's fun to examine them closely, I've found some weird things on many of them. I don't know what those strange marks are, or why some look blurry when reading the letters or dates on some of them. What I do know is I've grown in my interest of coins, and I might have them looked at by a professional.
    Over all, my interest in coins treats on one main issue; RESPECT THE COINS! Please don't just toss them willynilly in the cupholder of your car.
    They might hold a valuable oddity that will give you some extra cash or a decent windfall... So, please respect the coins.

    Ok this cracks me up. Go to the 8:36 mark and pause it on the reverse of a wheat cent. What do you see on the 'T' on the word cent? I'll give you a hint: you'll see something of the phallic variety. If you think I'm crazy, look at all the other marks on the reverse and you will start to notice someone's artwork. Has anyone else noticed this?
    This is even better. So...have you seen the iconic, perfectly doubled 1955 DDO? Go look at a picture of it (I'm talking the top dog of em all) and whaddaya see? Hint: ITS THE SAME STUFF THAT YOU SEE HERE. We have some sort of coinage "ar-teest" walking among us. And I want to know who it is.
    Side note: please don't tell me that I'm wrong and that I'm seeing things that aren't really there. Go through your own change. I've found dozens of pennies and a few dimes with the same thing going on. Why isn't anyone talking about this??

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because you’re seeing things, you’re making familiar objects out of shapes in coins, it’s called www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pareidolia#:~:text=par%C2%B7%E2%80%8Bei%C2%B7%E2%80%8Bdo,of%20the%20Rorschach%20inkblot%20test.
      It’s that’s simple, there’s no artist carving up dies that strike coins and putting phallace symbols on coin dies at the mint.
      This video is about post mint damaged coins which is after mint damage.

    if something is very rare collectors still want it regardless of what it looks like if it is actually the rare item in question the rarity of it is the desirable factor making it something the collectors value this is the case in every collectors hobby EXCEPT COINS!!! that should make you question alot about the mentality of "coin collecting"

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No hobby out there where people desire a damaged collectible over a non damaged collectible. It’s human nature and not exclusive to coin collecting.

    • @jeffw1267
      @jeffw1267 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even in the case of rare errors, not many people collect them so they're not always worth a lot. If errors were collected as avidly as Morgan dollars, the values would be sky-high. But they're not.

    • @mikebarushok5361
      @mikebarushok5361 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's nowhere near as simple as just being rare. Other factors including demand distort the perceived value. An error that is a one time thing will almost always be worth less than one that has a population of 250,000 because the latter is likely to be documented in the Red Book and people are much more likely to want one. A lot of demand is created by the contributors to published catalogs who may have an aspirational value for something they own and don't care about something they'll never see.
      Historically few people tried to collect any entire series of dates and mintmarks before Whitman folders caught on. The availability of nearly filled folders created much higher demand for so called key dates and those coins suddenly increased in value if there were almost enough to satisfy that type of collector. But, the actually rare ones had a plug you had to tear out to put something in the space.

      So a Mickey Mantle rookie card with a peacock feather and glitter glued to his cap is desirable? How about a 1978 Princess Leia figure with both hands melted to her face? I could go for eternity with one of a kind "rarities" that are 100% worthless.
