The last solo of Wake up dead or Set the world afire or Devils island etc. is not included because I couldn´t find a live performance where camera shows at least 70 % of the solo, at least when I was mixing clips togeher.

The reason Mustaine plays rhythm in Megadeth is because nobody else can play the riffs-rhythm section as well as he does, not because he lacks ability to play solos. Those killer riff-rhythms are the ground structure of Megadeth songs. This guy is a musical genius.
I agree with most of what you're saying but you're seriously discrediting the other Megadeth guitarists if you think they cannot handle fast, complex thrash rhythm sections. Marty Friedman in particular is a phenomenal rhythm guitarist, as evidenced by the first couple of Cacophony albums and Dragon's Kiss. Chris Poland could play anything on this planet. Jeff Young is probably the least talented guitarist (along with Al Pitrelli) that was in Megadeth but he was also a muscular rhythm player. Glen Drover, Broderick and Kiko are also fast and tight rhythm guitarists who can handle whatever riff Dave his written, while he solos. Long story short, Dave focuses more on the riffing side of it because that's his strong suit...

he hails Friedman for being a lead guitar wizard. He gave Friedman a ton of solo time because he absolutely loved the fact that Marty can solo over his complicated riffs. At that point he just wanted to make good music.

What sets Dave apart from all other guitarists and shredders of the 80s bands, was that his talent came from a true source of anger, rage, and pain and he was able to truly put all that chaos into music. Thay guitar saved his life.

I think at one point he just came out and admitted that yeah, most of his soloists can do things he can't do himself, but that's just being realistic. I don't think DM would ever truly "underestimate" himself.

You say that because they play the solos that catch much more attention... but Dave writes lyrics that are amazing, riffs like a god and still has to play and sing at the same time

Love him or hate him, he shreds. His sound is like playing guitar with barbed wire. Not since Jimmy Page had there been such a Beast. I’m certain he’s the best of that era in the eighties. Definitely best guitarist of the Big Four.

I was introduced to Megadeth at 16, and I still live this band so much. This music has gotten me through some shit, and I truly mean that. Megadeth is beyond my favorite band. Every album has had some absolutely treasures, and up to the United abominations album I literally love every song. I can name any Megadeth song throughout any point in any song. There is music and there is Megadeth.

Just saw megadeth in early May and Dave's still got it. His voice is a little gone live which is completely understandable considering all of the stuff he's been through but his guitar playing was as good as it gets. He really surprised me. The man didn't miss a single note and being someone that has learned a lot of his solos and music in general its mind blowing to me how he can pull all of it off live in his sixties. Ill remember that show for the rest of my life. I wish Dave could live on and play forever 🤘🤘
And when you add in he had to RE-LEARN how to play due to his injury. What you saw him at still wasn't his full power. Its insane, thats what I thought back in 2017

I personally feel like Kirk doesnt have a very good ear. Always doing "the scale" no matter whether some note in it fits or not.. he does "the whole scale"... not nearly as musical as Mustaine's, let alone the technical side of it

He knows he has the ability to rip in a very aggressive and somewhat primitive way (still advanced by most standards but certainly compared the lead players he hires; almost every lead guitarist (and almost every musician, period) ever in Megadeth was a monster at their instrument
ALWAYS was better than Kirk Hammett on lead whenever he was live. Although Kirk is a great guitarist as well, who inspired many a young metalhead to pick up the instrument and start rocking. But Mustaine is on a whole different level overall in terms of guitar skills. He inspired and helped propel forward a genre and a generation of musicians.

But megadeth fans have to keep telling themselves that megadeth is better than Metallica so they can actually believe it. I mean, that's not true at all. Mustaine is very repetitive as a lead as this video shows. Kirk, at least in his greatest solos has much more range. One is different from Fade to Black, is different from Disposable heroes, is different from blackened. Mustaine plays the same shred notes over and over again.

Dave is the greatest metal guitarist of the last 30 years but soloing is not his strongest point, if we're being honest. He's good at it but his tight rhythm playing is what really set him apart from most. There's a good reason why he's always recruited killer lead guitarists for Megadeth, because Dave rather focus on rhythm than lead. Poland and Friedman are so far ahead of him as a soloist, it's ridiculous. Then you've got monsters like Broderick and Kiko. Dave knows ;)

No offence but I really need to disagree on this one, for his music he needs a second guitarist and why not hire the best ones? Just because the soloists he had can play more "sophisticated" and things that he can't play, that doesn't make Dave's solos less strong or his weak side.

Even if the lead players are more skilled, which they are I'm sure. I always enjoy Dave's solo's more on the albums. It's just the fast style he plays, it's awesome. After all it's not just about skill it's what sounds good to you subjectively.

I enjoy watching Dave play guitar. Maybe he's sloppy or there's 7024934347473 guitarists who are better than him, but there's something that is the essence of metal about Dave on stage that I enjoy. I enjoy the songs. I have fun and feel energy when I listen to them. That's all I require.

My brothers here are dying to see their Idol, Dave Mustaine performing. They don't have enough cash for the road, hotel, concert ticket and all 'coz they don't want to bother their family. They are just students to have that much cash; they reached their destination somehow, they bought their tickets by their little savings and got no money left for hotel room. So, they just slept in the streets covered themselves by their jackets on a cold night.
