Pretty much all aftermarket modded Toyota trucks are simply decorated toys. We like them because they can hardcore offroad or work, but hardly any of them do. In the USA, home of the real heavy duty pickup truck, full sized trucks do almost all of the pickup truck work. You *rarely* if ever see Toyotas used as work vehicles outside of Pac Northwesters who mod their trucks on the side (taking the place of a Domestic in the South perhaps for the same reasons but different environment), or 'Boutique' style Tradesmen whose rich customers are like you and are afraid of 3/4 ton 2wd Ram pickups for some reason. I know their drivers are in 2024 still celebrating like they aren't obvious lazy Manbabies playing hardworkin' Redneck. But still, you're just ignorantly prejudiced. I, personally, am a Toyota fan because they can work for years even in US salt if you take care of them, Latin Americans and Asians are lazy with their Toyotas. How easy it is to keep a vehicle for decades in the Jungle or Desert. lol. All Indonesian farmers and Latin backwoods explorers will pretty much let their Toyotas melt away if they drove in snowy salty conditions. A crappy used 3/4 Dodge may be a broken piece of shit, but it will exist in 20 years if you keep doiong basic repairs. The frame will exist and it will still carry 3 Toyota balanced on the bed no problem really. You might have to strap them in so they don't slide off the back and make sure the wind doesn't tip if over. A 1-ton Chevy, for God's sake, could carry 3 overloaded Toyotas from Jakarta in the bed, and haul 6 full loaded Toyotas on the trailer and if they ones in teh bed were strapped down, it could comfortably cruise down the highway at 85 mph with air conditioning and it will be 20 years old and rusty. Just new shocks and some engine work like new ignition coils or sensors, or perhaps a new Turbo at 100k and a transmission rebuild. Toyota Tundras cannot do that. They're great, but I prefer a Tacoma myself, or if I had my druthers, my 3 minitrucks that I owned. 1 of them was a solid-axle 22rE pickup, pretty rare, first year of the 22re in USA. I know as a Toyota fan, I enjoy massive esteem worldwide because it's such an exclusive and knowledgeable club. lol just joshing, this build IS awesome, really well done.

Hey man, great work. Your attention to detail makes me want to suggest something to keep this looking nice even when its getting rocks and debris pelted at it from the trail. I suggest putting wheel wells / fenders to protect all your hard work! Take some inspiration from trophy trucks of today or older work trucks ...plus I think in the state of WA it's mandatory to have fenders that stick out as far as the rubber of your tire does. Anyways it's just a suggestion from someone who think form should follow function. You did an amazing build and thank you for taking the time to share it.

Excellent build Austin. I like the way you flared out the sides. I built several of these years ago but the way the hot rolled steel rusted here in Ohio it didn't take long for the entire bed to need a new coat of paint. Your truck probably has better off road traction with the heavier new bed over the rear wheels. Thanks for sharing.
If I could fabricate a bed up like this for my Silverado, I’d probably put a flat bed on. The thought of a regular looking flat bed on a half ton makes me cringe lol. I definitely like the style you came up with.

Something that I am so guilty of is over engineering the design of truck beds. Think about it, a tub is just thin sheet metal. Yes, it's shaped and curved to make it strong but you don't need 1/4 plate for a bed. (yup, that was me) Yes, need durable good size metal but just don't need near the beef that most of us guys put into a bed. I make beds now with 14 gauge and even that is pretty stout stuff. I do thing totally different now but man I tell you it's been a lot of beds to learn what it actually takes. I admire the workmanship you have put into this bed. Not just a flatbed. Welds are clean and ground flat. Holes are deburred and the like. Something that I very well may be wrong in doing. I prime everything with Rust-oleum rusty metal primer. I've painted trailers and other stuff I've built with just that and I've been extremely satisfied with the results. Maybe I'm just no good at painting and it makes up for it.
Awesome, my 88 has a solid bed somehow so I’m keeping it, bout ready to lay some sealer and paint! I see way to many beds that give “flatbed” a bad name for themselves lll

That last shot is 💯🔥🔥🔥 3 brother Toyota's 👀🔥👊🏼 Keep the videos dropping 👍🏻
Looks great! Mod the cab and truly make that truck unique
This is the best and coolest flatbed I have ever seen
time for an all aluminum framed mini camper to slid on top. call it the lone wolf series.
One of the best build I've seen so far ❤️ Keep it up mate.
Thanks a ton!
Nice recap. Your truck looks do SICK!
This is my favorite Tacoma flatbed design. I definitely plan on building one for mine in the near future.
super nice bed my only change would be more tie downs one in each corner is never enough
I absolutely love the way you made that flat bed young man! If you lived near me I'd definitely pay you good money to customize my truck!!
It does look great!!! I always say I'm going to do more fab for my truck but you actually did it...
