Nice job on the flat bed. Did one on an old square body Chevy with dual tanks. I always thought it was a dumb idea to have a filler on each side, so I routed the filler on the right side over to the left side. That way the owner could fill both tanks from the same side.
NICE ! Looks great, love the rear end design. Great to watch also, so many of the custom builders that film spend way too much time talking and trying to be funny, your video is a refreshing to the point and just building.
Well dam ,that was impressive !! The filming and editing was spot on , great flatbed design . I’ve decided to do the same with my extra old GMC as well thx to that video 🤟
Thanks. Just when I thought I was going to sell my truck with a rusted out bed, this shows up. Mine is a half ton, so I'll have to build lighter. Looks great.
That or smaller tubing size. The 3X6 I used on the sides and front were the most difficult to source and I had to go with a thicker wall than I wanted.
Thank you! I had bought more lights but, decided not to put them in. I figured more lights just meant more potential problems down the road. Thanks for watching!
@@nauvooacresif the treated ever wears out, look for reclaimed flooring from semi trailers. I have a major trucking company near me that sells it when they scrap trailers.
Great fabrication work. I appreciate the jigs and head scratching. Do you have a slight tremor? If so, your fabrication and fitment is even more impressive.
Definitely a well planned out and built flat bed. Can't go wrong with stake pockets and rub rails. I build all my trailers with them. So much more versatile.
I'm looking to modify a hummvee trailer bed for my 1st gen tacoma. The width seems almost perfect, I'll have to have it shortened so finderwells will line up with the tires. Will have to see how it goes
Thank you. Cheap lights off of Amazon. I would not buy them again. Once they need replaced, I will probably buy some good, name brand ones. Thanks for watching!
Gotta say from where i come from its the strangest flat bed design ive seen, our standard starting point iscalways two lateral bearers along top of chassis with cross beams that make base for flooring, with this design you can adapt to any chassis by placing bearers at what ever width vehicle is and premaking tray or bed is possible
I have not weighed it since the build. My main goal was a way to haul a decent amount of hay safely for my cows, and it will work good for that. Thanks for watching!
I don’t have one specifically. I took my build list from a company that sells the tail light panels, and you source the rest. They are easy to find online. My total cost of materials was less than $1800. Thanks for watching!
Sides are 3x6, inner is 2x3 and headache rack is 2.5 square. Everything was .120 wall. I wanted thinner for the 3x6, but couldn’t find it. Thanks for watching!
The boards are pre milled and pressure treated. I plan to treat them once they dry out. I am my own customer. I built this for myself, and have no intentions of building them for anyone else. I’m not sure what you are referring to with wasted metal. Thanks for watching!
Great video has anyone ever watched these videos at 2x the normal speed? The first song on this one is so cool at that speed.

Thank you. Makes good sense to route them to one side. Thanks for watching!
Or u can simply do what Semi trucks do and have a crossover tube between the two tanks.
Nice job 👍. Building a flatbed has been on my potential to do list.
Thank you and thanks for watching. It was a fun project.
One of the best flat bed build I have seen on TH-cam ! 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! Quite the compliment. Thanks for watching!
If that's a rusty frame I'll be damned. Living in the northeast, that frame made me envious. Great video and phenomenal build.
I’m northeast myself, I’m just fortunate that the frame has held up. Thanks for watching!
Amazing, It really turned out get. A lot of detail

Great looking bed. Nice paint and beautiful wood work. You want to build another if so I have a great truck you could show off on. lol.

Nice work! The only thing I would have added is a disappearing gooseneck ball mount.
Thought about but, I have yet to haul a gooseneck, and wouldn’t be able to get one up my driveway due to how steep it is. Thanks for watching!
That's a bloody great job well done.

Once that treated lumber dries up, you should look into staining it. Personally think a dark brown stain would look great.
That is the plan as I want to keep it from turning gray. Thanks for watching!

I used cedar boards stained with black shoe polish.

Did you fabricate the new fuel tank support or purchase new one?
5:29
Purchased a new one.
Awesome flatbed, precise workmanship 👌
Just out of curiosity to you know how much it weighs?
I am not sure of the weight. I should have weighed the truck before and after. Thanks for watching!
awesome new metal bed for ur truck. cheaper than a new bed..
Way cheaper than buying one from a manufacturer. Thanks for watching!
What did the bed weigh when finished.
9:50
I am not sure. I didn’t not bother to weigh the truck before and after. Thank you for watching.
That was a lot of work.
It was but, a fun project. Thanks for watching!
How many hours do you have into this build? Looks great btw.
About 80 hours I’m guessing. I didn’t do much planning ahead, so it took longer than I wanted it to. Fun build though. Thanks for watching!
Awsime job! What was approximate cost?
Thank you. I’m going to say about $1800 in materials.
Nice work! What was ballpark total fab time?
About 80 hours. I worked on it over 6 weekends, not quite 8 hours a day. Thanks for watching!
What gauge did you use on the back vertical rear piece ? The bumper/ around the hitch
1/8” steel

He has two lateral frame rails of the vehicle. Plus’s he saves weight and money.
Does it still have any load capacity left or does the tray use it all up?
I have not weighed it since the build. My main goal was a way to haul a decent amount of hay safely for my cows, and it will work good for that. Thanks for watching!
How long have you had that 🛻? It’s got a lot of rust underneath! 🙅🏾♂️🤔🤷🏾♂️
It’s a 2003 with over 310,000 miles on it. I also live north of the rust belt. Thanks for watching!
What did you use to mount the wodden boards to the frame?
Trailer deck screws. They are 5/16-18, self tapping once a pilot hole is drilled.
Nice

I've heard that intro tune somewhere before, just not sure where from.
It was just a royalty free song I found somewhere. I’ve heard before on TH-cam videos as well. Might be time for a change. Thanks for watching!
I just have one question: why did you not finish welding the bottom edge of the diamond plate on the front of your bed?
I just stitch welded the diamond plate around the edges. I didn’t feel the need to put more than that. Thanks for watching!
So is this bed held on by just 4 bolts?
There are 8 bolts holding it on. I used all the factory mounting locations.
Do you have a build list and cost that you could share?
I don’t have one specifically. I took my build list from a company that sells the tail light panels, and you source the rest. They are easy to find online. My total cost of materials was less than $1800. Thanks for watching!

What size square tubing?
The square tube I used was 2-1/2 10 gauge. Thanks for watching.
