This is tempting as I'm considering something similar to my c32, or just go all out and do one of those hood scoops like in the GM cars, lol.

If I may give you a tip, sand the metal elbow there were the couplers goes on to get some extra grip😉
And isn't it an option to use a short straight coupler from intake manifold to the elbow I think you gain extra clearance and you're free from the brakebooster pipe 😉
And you say you go into your intake with a magnet?
Do you have a plastic 🧲 😜🤪

@@THE-WISHMASTER I think my plan is to just go 3 inch piping on that first piece then silicone coupler 3-3.5in. That should bring it down enough. The straight on the bottom put the connector for the MAF sensor too close to the firewall to plug in.
Yes the elusive magical plastic magnet loll no I was fishing around to make sure none of the steel components in the manifold were bound up by it 🤙🏼

The '02 CLK320 I have doesn't have the hood vents. And even with some googling it appears the vents are only on the 55s. May almost be worth getting a non-AMG hood and cutting vents into that. But then getting the paint to match well might be miserable.

HI, MAF readings are totally fckded. Most probably you will abandon this very soon. it is not by chance that MAF is placed in a straight tube and it is not by chance that it has a platic grid / mesh (it is not to stop "bulk objects" to enter to the sensor itself). Greetings. :)
