    I have an Orca. Switch is very fun once you get some miles down. But deff sketch at first cus of the small tail. If you can master orca switch. It’s dope. Also insane on Icy conditions.

    Thanks for the comparison! I own golden orca and also ride my buddy’s orca a lot. I really enjoy the shorter sidecut radius on orca though. Btw, I’d suggest more inclination on your heel side turns, instead of folding your hips. If you watch your riding, you’d find your upper body stays on the same position on your toe and heel side turns, which makes your riding unstable. The upper body should move to the counter direction where lower body moves.

    • @MrChevy69
      @MrChevy69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true. Counter rotation is something that should be used sparingly. It’s better to keep the upper body aligned with lower body on both toe and heel side turns.

    • @jayc3723
      @jayc3723 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrChevy69 I don't mean counter rotation, which is a is lateral movement. I meant upper body should be moving to the different direction as the lower body so that the whole body will be aligned in a straight line with less angulation and more inclination.

      Hi Olivier, I'm 6'0 and 165 lbs. I bought the 156 orca last year for the same reason. I recently had a chance to ride the 153 and to be honest it was really hard to tell the difference. I think the 156 is slightly more stable and carves better because it has a longer effective edge. While the 153 was slightly more nimble. Again very hard to tell the difference but I actually prefer the 156. If you're an intermediate to advanced rider you'll be able to handle the 156 just fine. Have fun with it. Hey there! Bobby from Curated here - sizing is more dependent on weight than height but unfortunately the shortest Golden Orca is a 153 that would likely be too much snowboard at 5'2". This review should have been done with equal length boards

    • @colby87
      @colby87 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are actually the closest equivalent size. The orca is recommended 3-6 inches shorter than your normal board and the Golden only 1-3 cm shorter than your normal board. So the 157 and 153 is actually a good comparison

    • @narrowistheway77
      @narrowistheway77 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@colby87 I’m aware of that, but anyone who’s ridden them knows that the Orca still rides best at your normal size with a maximum 3cm less. They would have found carving was better on the regular Orca had they done this

    • @narrowistheway77
      @narrowistheway77 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@willmontague7972 even snowboardprocamp says the same as I do. He bought the 153 first to follow the volume shift recommendation, and then later bought the 159 because in truth it just works better to go with your normal size. Note that they didn’t do a powder comparison from having ridden both in that condition but just assumed the Orca was better(which it is). So surface area is kinda irrelevant to the testing they did. In truth the added waist makes the Orca lay over carves wayyyyy better with the same effective edge length. The Golden Orca is a gimmick board, I don’t see it lasting long in the lineup when the Goldmember(or Climax) is already wayyyyy better overall.
      In truth, now that Lib Teach released the Retro Ripper I’d already recommend skipping the Orca altogether and getting that instead. I’ve taken the Retro Ripper 166 out on three deep powder days and it’s a dream come true, on groomers it rides like a 166 and in deep powder it turns like a 153. That board is the best powder/freeride directional board they’ve ever released. I own a lot of Lib Techs, I know what I’m talking about here.
      Long story short, if you’re riding the 153 Orca you’d probably love it more on the 156 or 159.
      But I’d still recommend the Retro Ripper over anything else for powder performance in their lineup
