    Loved this. I used to teach “self care” seminars as part of my university job, before I was saved. I throw up in my mouth whenever I think about it.

      Same here. Such an overused term. The meaning of it has also gone to the gutter. Most self care can be wrapped up in about 5 mins. We dont need these same lectures and books over and over again. It's all the same trash.

    I love you so much Rachel! You have helped reassure me on so many things I began to feel the Lord moving within me that I felt I needed to hear being backed up. This generation is backwards and idolizes doing everything God doesnt want us doing and it made me really unsure for so long on if how I was following God was really how he is calling us to follow him
    I believe that the Lord is really all we need to fully sustain us.

Let that soak in for a minute, peace be upon you and your family

      We are on the new testament. This is a new day the Lord Made. All Church history have been keeping sunday. You should seek and be humble before the Lord. Do You really think now we are smarter and more godly than in The firsts centuries? They kept the sunday holy. @@franciscaedwards6219 Nobody kept sunday holy in the 1st centuries except for pagans, like Romans. Check your church history and you'll will find that sunday wasn't introduced until about 350 AD through 500 AD before it was mandated by the Roman church {catholic} from the resurrection forward, Christians have always kept the 7th day sabbath as written in stone. {EX 20} Since 500 AD , the catholic church has been busy indoctrinating the world to believe the sabbath was changed to sunday by Jesus all the while NOT providing any scriptural support because it doesn't exist.....the RCC actually boast about this point in their church history. @@tomberry66 keep studying bro.... the 1st day is NOT the Sabbath day of the 4th commandment carved in stone by our Creator. No matter what traditions men create, we will be judged according to to royal law carved in stone {never to be changed by God} James 2: 8-26 Rom 13: 8-10 Rev 22:14 It doesn't matter when people meet together to worship.... if that was the case then everyday would apply, no my brother, the Sabbath is the 7th day of our known week, which you confirmed for me by referring to "the 1st day" so you do understand the difference and you will be judged according to that knowledge. Good luck trying to explain the application of the law to our CREATOR who wrote the law with HIS own finger. I think there's a real struggle of understanding between the opposite ends of the spectrum, where ego would readily devalue people in the name of "obedience" and selfishness would justify disobedience in revolt of the reign of ego. Point being, not everyone understands what they're preaching, and the extremes appeal to particular, respective flaws within our characters.

    Exercise profiteth a little, but godliness is profitable unto all things, for our bodies...in the same way a genuine sabbath is profitable, and thanks giving is genuinely profitable 'unto all things', spirit, soul and body. 'In EVERY THING give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you' ! So then 'rejoice evermore' 'pray without ceasing' 'in every thing give thanks' for every opportunity to 'do the will of the Father'.
    'And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace'...'A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from Heaven'!

    How does a Sabbath, a day of no work, a day of rest, look practically for a mother who has 3 children in diapers?

    • @taratags4499
      @taratags4499 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kevin Godinho I don’t think meal prepping for the week or washing diapers or dishes on Sunday constitutes disobedience. Basic care for a family is work, and taking a day off from that is obviously nonnegotiable. I think it is more of an attitude of rest. I tend to take my rest/hobby time in chunks. Or I choose hobbies that don’t take away time from my duties. If you actually enjoy organizing and it brings you refreshment, then that can count as an aspect of your rest! If setting yourself up for the week by doing little tasks that you have zero time for during the rest of the week helps you serve your family more restfully and less stressfully, and you are prepping with an attitude of respite, then you are contributing to rest! Sabbath may look different for different situations and seasons of life. Is. Riding a baby work? Heck to the yes it is! I actually exclusively pumped (twice!)and I sat on that pump no less than 8 hours per day, and it was the hardest thing I have ever done because you have to keep doing it with no breaks. But I found ways to rest in midst of that work, like watch TH-cam videos or research an interest, listen to podcasts, indulge in some cookies! Whatever helped me feel like I was getting rest when I was on a merry go round and physically couldn’t get off. Like most of motherhood is, really. I call it hacking the system because there is no real set aside rest time, otherwise, and it can be tempting to resent that if you don’t figure out a way to fit in both without sacrificing either. I think the bottom line is, no one can define what rest actually looks like or means to any one person and any one time. Life changes and your need for rest (and ability to rest in a certain way) changes constantly.

    • @cnh4431
      @cnh4431 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I disagree with a previous responder. I do think that meal prep for the week on Sunday counts as disobedience. Do it on Saturday. Do it on Monday. Put a crockpot meal in the fridge Saturday to warm up the next day and eat cold cereal and a piece of fruit for breakfast. Have the dishwasher empty Saturday and just drop your dishes in on Sunday. Use paper plates. Of course you can't escape the need for diapers and washing your children. There will be accidents. There will be wet beds and vomit occasionally. Jesus healed on the Sabbath. But that doesn't mean that you can't live a life in front of your children of obedience to God's rest. Children are not going to recognize that a mother who is running around cleaning, cooking and organizing is "resting." They're going to see someone who never takes a break in obedience to God. Jesus said that Mary had chosen the better thing, not Martha. I don't say any of this in arrogance or flippancy. It's a sin I struggle with constantly. I'm a "Martha." Disobedience to God's prescribed rest causes me to indulge in other things that are not truly restful (watching tv, etc) and neglect things that are (prayer, the Word, even going to church - thanks covid 🤦). Take time to sit at the feet of Jesus and play with your kids, paint, play, draw, hike, swim and read a book.

    Sabbath is sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. How can one say they are obeying God in Sabbath when they disregard His statement of when Sabbath is? Sunday is a direct pagan tradition, but God is clear that we are not to learn pagan ways.
    [EDIT: It's been over a year since the original comment, and I should say I'm not exactly sure about the "sunday is pagan" part of that, and I should not speak presumptuously. I'm not aware of the Bible teaching a change of Sabbath, and I am aware that Rome claim they switched the "solemnity" from Sabbath to Sunday.]
