Thank you for doing this video. Interesting results. I am just about to try using the energizer rechargeables in my massive 2 pedal rig haha. From the looks of your tests, all should be good :)
Can you try charging the 9V to 100% and show us the difference. Problem with the video is discharged na sya, so it has not enough juice to drive all the semiconductors inside the pedal, creating noise.
Thank you for this Papi! :D muntik na ko kumuha nung USB before, ang mahal nung mga Energizer na non rechargeable kasi issue ko sa Eveready may faces sila na mataba like if you're using them sa mga Acoustic battery slots na you need to slide it in vertically. might check the energizer one, alam ko rin usually may bundled charger yung iba
Tama ka about sa mga Everready batteries may mga mataba nga sila na mahirap pumasok sa battery compartment ng acoustics and electrics. Energizer nga is pricey pero mismo. :)
Salaaaaamat master yan pala dahilan
From my experience as a musician and using 9v rechargeable batteries for years, the problem with the noise of batteries that are recharged via USB system is that they have an electric board with microcircuits. The noise must be generated in that circuit. The other The problem is that the lithium batteries inside do not generate 9v and an electronic duplicator is used to reach 9v. Normal rechargeable batteries without an electrical circuit and that are charged by the normal charger method do not produce those noises, At least the quality ones. The latest technology is not always the best.
Hi everyone! I got from Lazada a pair of those Black BESTON 9V. USB rechargeable batteries for a pair of Boss pedal (GEB-7 Taiwan Made & GE-7 Malaysia Made) and after testing in different amplifiers and mixers the GEB-7 is doing that horrible high pitch noise but the GE-7 works fine with my Yamaha SLG-200NW guitar. Is there any quality 9V. Rechargeable battery you guys would recommend me? I'm currently in Laguna, Philippines performing flamenco and latin guitar.
I found the same thing. I did some tests and spectrum of the noise. It is a variable freq noise. The higher the current drawn, the higher the fondamental pitch. It has harmonics and strecthes very high (tens of kHz) in the radio spectrum, "pink noise". Il is unacceptable for my active bass, any music and sound gear, radio gear, and pollutes radio bands. In MXR Dynacomp, for exemple, it's quite quiet, tho. Tried to filter it, but.. ehmm... It may be possible (work in progress...) to filter, but will be a drag to add filters everywhere. So... I think we should just avoid those 9V Li-po and stick to NiMH. That's sad because it would have been handy.
And I must add : even if they made some with higher-than-hearing switching frequency, it still wouldn't be good : Just because u can't hear it doesn't mean it doesn't pollute everything, hurt dogs and cats, and degrade amplificators performance and headroom (and cross-distortion, intermodulation, etc). :/
Meron din ako nyan same rechargeable USB C 9V batt.
It won't affect the sound. Again like I said "THE USB KIND" will make your guitar noisy. So use regular batteries or the rechargeable kind that is not USB.
Yes Duracells are actually the best for pedals, they are just too pricey back here in Manila or it's hard to find. Mostly Energizer batteries available

omfg thanks for this, I'm gonna use that frequency to improve my relative pitch skills

I have to buy some rechargeable 9V batteries now. Do you know how long they last in a guitar? Is it about the same as a normal 9V?
Normal 9v lasts a little longer over rechargeable batteries.

For guitar preamps they work, for pedals, usb type are noisy. Get them energizer ones.
nice vid papi very informative.
Salamat paps!
How about lithium rechargeable for active pickups?
Lithium rechargeable are ok!

May apat or lima ako niyan, mismo kasi

Pwede poba sa acoustic guitar pick up Yung rechargeable battery?
Yes pwede

di kaya sir dahil low charge yung usb 9v battery?
Low or fully charge pumipito si USB 9 volt
