Actually, M-Vave apparently make many pedals, some with less features, some with more...but the highest cost appears to be something like USD$75 or so. Like it or not, let's see a domestic mfr come close to those prices, for the multitude of options the pedals provide! What is not fair is to say that the pedal is not as good as XXX, when XXX costs 6 times as much: Yes, it is said that "You get what you pay for..." but, in this case, it appears that you get much more! In any event, thanks for your thorough review, as I do understand that foreign instruction manuals are not always clear...probably the result of using auto-translate to convert some foreign language to English. Thanks for the video. It was very well done! Great review! I’ve been playing since I was 15. A few years later I went with a friend to a radio station in Pasadena, Texas. He knew the DJ and wanted to talk with him. While we were hanging out in the back room a bunch of guys came through the rear door carrying their instruments. I easily recognized them. They were 3 Dog Night. They were very friendly. We all sat around and talked and smoked pot. We were passing around joints on roach clips when they started playing some of their songs. I got a guitar and played along with them. What a cool experience. They were scheduled to play in a concert the next day in Houston, just a few miles away from the radio station. When they got on the air they promoted their upcoming concert. Things sure were simpler back then. The band were all very nice guys. I wish cellphones existed back then. I would love to be able to watch and listen to all of us talking and playing together again. They were such an amazing band. I’ve always loved their music.
That is a cool story! Great memory to have. It really can be the best thing talking and hanging out with chill relaxed non-ego musicians. Some of the best times in my life are those impromptu moments. Thanks for the story! Cheers.
I bought one, and here are my two cents, aside your good and detailed review: - In edit mode, when a button is blinking, it means the value actually played is not the same that the button position indicates For example, your reverb button is on a 25% position, but the preset you are editing has a 50% reverb value and plays this value. Once you move the button, the value and the button position will be the same, and the button wil stop blinking. - In edit mode still, the volume button is actually the preset level, so you can choose the volume equilibrium between all 3 presets by setting it the way you want. Then, when back in preset mode, the volume button is the général volume of the cube baby. - You can use the cube baby as an audio interface with a DAW on a comuter, with Asio4All installed and set for Input/Output.. But it's just for temporay use, or you must use the cube baby as the input, and for exemple the computer integrated sound card as the output. (Otherwise, it seems you will record all activated tracks in the DAW at the same time you record what your are playing, on the track set to record your playing. Example; you've got in your DAW a track with some drums, another with some bass, and you want to record your guitar through the cube baby on a third track, while hearing the drums and the bass, and the cube baby effects on your guitar. If you don't use a second sound card as an output, you will in fact record, on the third track, your guitar play plus the drums plus the bass). Thank you for sharing, I love this cube baby, very practical :)
I got mine from Ali Express. Same thing. I use it to add Reverb/Chorus to my VOX Pathfinder 10. Good as a boost too. Excellent run down of functions and how-to btw.
No one has to buy any pedal without hearing it being used first. Its one of the few things i like about the internet, (and youtube especially). If you cant find a video review of a pedal you're considering, then DONT buy it, or at least admit to yourself that you're taking a chance of being disappointed. I'm pretty sure a person can find reviews of virtually any pedal sold on the market.
Just happened on your channel. Always wondered in general about temu. And on cheap effects devices (never owned any effects pedals or multi effects devices). You've answered both my questions
I've had one for years. I love it. So much so that I had to buy another one so I don't have to plug it in and out all the time. Most of the sounds are pretty believable.
Great insight. Thanks! Two questions: Does the delay trail off after being bypassed? Also: Can I run the reverb without the cab sim? I'm just looking for a delay/reverb pedal. Cheers!
Hi. Wish I could help but a friend of mine has been borrowing this thing for a long time now out of state. Perhaps someone else here can answer? Cheers,
Yeah, i actually got it for a "shed rig" to pair with the tiny tonex but hooked it up expecting shit but it's actually very good for 80s. Through a small cheap bass power amp to a harley benton 2x12 with v30s @CompanyGrip
There's multiple versions of these and not just the bass and acoustic versions. I bought one of these back when they just switched over to labeling it as Cuvave. It has a completely different set of amps though they're similar. There's an unofficial firmware update that adds this set of amps. There's an upgraded version of this called the Tank G that was just released last month that looks like it's worth checking out.
Great video, thx! What I really could not figure out yet on my device is what exactly the live mode is supposed to be. I programmed my 3 presets with the software. But when I entered live mode from one of my presets, everything was turned off. When I enganged the modules that I wanted (and had in my preset), it did not seem to have remembered ie the Amp I chose for the preset and the overall volume was way higher. I then tried to dial in the same parameters on the knobs that I chose for the preset in the software and saved it to the preset again. I could not see any difference in the software (seems not to recognize knob movement), but still got some serious volume difference between preset and live mode. I cannot explain this, but are happy to use this "feature" as a kind of "clean boost" for soloing and therefor can use it like a 4th preset...
Yeah. Agreed. There’s something weird with the redundancy of the Live mode. I’ve loaned my pedal out to a friend whose kid wanted to borrow it, so I can’t really dive into it at the moment and see what’s up. Thanks for checking out the video! Cheers.
I have the acoustic and electric guitar models and they work perfectly, you just have to set it up for your preference. It has a tone of IRs available online, you just have to be a tech to program it or at least understand the program that interfaces with the pedal. The factory settings are not necessarily set to your instrument or amplifier. Mine are tweaked out and I use them every week.
I bought one a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the headphone out volume knob went from zero to MAX VOLUME with nothing in between, thankfully my headphones weren't ruined (I had just plugged them in, didn't put them on my head beforehand thankfully). In Temu's defense, the return process was painless and they issued my refund pretty quickly. For another $70, you can grab a Spark GO that's just better in every single way.
X-cuse me por favor. I see it all over the net. Spark Go. Yup, I gotta admit everybody can’t be wrong. BUTt…I could not afford it or the additional followup purchase. I’m really happy I bought the BlackStar Fly 3 Special Edition Double Amp Combo package for $99. And the thing is, it sounds way better than the demos I hear in TH-cam. Sorry. Just representing for the Fly team I ended up on.
Thanks for the comment. I don’t know if I feel confident enough to do that. I literally watched a video yesterday where someone “corrected” Eric Clapton and what he says to do in an old video on how to do the “Woman Tone”… 🤦♂️
I think you got one of t6he good one's! I cannot imagine QC being anywhere near good on electronics from TEMU, but....that being said, it is true that you can return, or exchange until you get one that works properly. I think it's brilliant! Hell man, for $35?! You can't get better, imo. Just don't forget that you're rolling the die on QC.
I’ve got the bass one, it’s alright to be honest. I’m glad I bought it anyway, I can get some nice sounds from it and not too much noise. Seems s a lot better than the guitar one from what I’ve seen on TH-cam.
The cheap Temu efx stomps and a Flamma multi-efx (similar in purpose with a Boss or Line 6 floor efx) have been stunningly good so far. I could use "shocked" as one impression these gear bits gave me; really impressive quality/cost ratio. This "M Vave" dev had better watch themselves, because their competition is formidable. Sorry you happened upon a lemon.
The bass version is great for practicing. I got two for $25 each! Headphone cable and 1/4'' cable and that's it!!! I just wish it had an AUX input instead of using bluetooth.
Great review, Ben! Well done. Decent product for the price, not top notch but still usable imo. Might get it cuz no budget at all for anything fancy these days. Beggars can't be choosers guess.. instant like and sub, man! Awesome video! 👍🏻👍🏻
@@CompanyGripGuitar first unit like this i know of with rechargeable built in battery avoiding power adapter and battery use. Cool. 👍🏻 The company Lekato has the exact same unit just with their logo on it so guess companies trading off on some products. It's around same price tag.
Hey there thanks for the awesome video🙏. I wanted to find out if this pedal sends midi information when connected to a computer. I wanted to get it and double it up to control effects on my computer
How about the "band controller" eq pedal they sell? Also curious about the rackmount equalizer as well. It's two channel. I would presume it would work about as well as the behringer 15 band one. I would wager most of the temu audio gear would work at least reasonably well. Especially for people on a budget or for beginners. The reality is it's build quality is probably not great and it's lifespan is probably pretty dang short. Also....I'd call the "cure sound" chorus no?
I haven’t used any of their other things, but eventually I’ll probably get into those products. Thanks for checking out the video. *yes - for the Cure, definitely chorus, minor chords, and equaled pacing. 😀 Cheers!
@@CompanyGripGuitar How did you purchase? As I understand it's fairly common for people to get ripped off using Temu no? Is it possible to use like VISA gift cards? I really want to try the 37 dollar 2 channel EQ haha. No idea what it is but I saw something called the "US DREAM" pedal too. I'd buy it sight unseen just for the shits and or giggles.
Hi There, great video. I subscribed to your channel and will follow other videos! I do own this device but haven't been using it cause I didn't feel I understood how. I have two truly basic questions, I apologize that they are so basic, but I'll MUCH (MUCH!) appreciate it if you can take the time to explain them: (1) If I use the output and connect it to an amp then am I supposed to connect to the front of the amp or to a 'power amp in' and bypass the front of the amp? I mean, if I connect to front of amp then the signal from this device will then be shaped by the amp's own character and override this device. No? So, I suppose I'm supposed to bypass the amp's pre-amp. Is that correct?
Thank you for the questions. To be honest, there is no right or wrong way to use it if it works for you. You might get better results one way or the other, but ultimately, I think you should do what works for you. That might mean using this device to shape the sound and then using your amp to further shape the sound. Or, maybe keeping the amp clean and using just the pedal to modify your sound. In regards to your other question - same thing! You can use the IR when you are recording if you like the sound or maybe you want to turn it off if you like that better. You definitely won’t hurt any of the pedal or the computers equipment. Thanks for subscribing! Cheers!
few days ago i got my bass cube baby for 5$ from Temu. really great piece of equipment. too bad they didn't had guitar one in the same price back then :D
So glad I looked for videos on this thing. The first video I checked out, there was so much noise on any of the effects I was interested in, (to be fair the compressor was okay) that it didn't even seem worth the $6.35 it's going for right now
Yes, exactly. You got me - I couldn’t find one bit of difference between each mode. Hahah. I’m guessing that because this housing is commonly used on a few Chinese multi-pedals, maybe they just made it a redundant feature on this model, and on other models that have a different purpose the third butting does something different?
They had no problem using brand names for the IR section but for the Amp Types we get things like "Power Zone" and my fave "Shittcow". Do any of those names mean anything to anyone? Is Mr. Smith some hot amp I haven't heard of? Is there an amp company called Shittcow? If so I think they are my favorite brand.
To continue on my previous comment, I have a second question about the IR function: Is it supposed to be 'on' only if I plug this to a computer and a DAW? or do I need to use it when connecting via an amp? My amps obviously each have their own speakers so I'm not sure what it would mean to use the IR in front of an amp, cause again the amp's own speaker will "override" (that is come after in the signal chain) the IR. I suppose it only makes sense to use it when connecting to a computer? I'll much (truly, MUCH!) appreciate you reply to my two questions. I realize how basic they must be and I apologize for not getting something so basic that everyone seems to get :)
Use the IR only if you are not running through an amp with a cabinet. This means if you play the CubeBaby directly to a DAW or front of house PA-system. If you are not going to use the IRs, this device might not be the best choice for you, because the IR-loader feature is the absolutely best part of this, imho. With other preamps you get more versatility because they usually feature a 3-band EQ (sepreate knobs for treble, mids and bass). This is where the CubeBaby is lacking the most, imho...
@@SturmsaengerThank you SO MUCH for this. This is much appreciated. I feel I finally understand what an IR is and that we're supposed to use it as long as there's no actual amp/cab in place. Thanks again.
@@shalomshalom735 An IR or Impulse Response is in short the recording of a miked cabinet. They are so different, because you get a lot of different sounds by changing the type or number of speakers in a cabinet, the model of the mike used, even the position of the mike in regard to the center of the speaker and so on. IRs are therefore the easiest and least expensive way to change your guitar sound. There are a lot of great IRs to be found on the net for free. Another benefit: no screwing or soldering needed ;-)
@@SturmsaengerThanks so much! It looks like you really understand this, so hoping you can help me understand this last question: I am playing through a physical amp (that has a speaker), then should I use IR or not? Is it correct to say that I should use it if I'm going through Power IN and bypassing its preamp, but should not use it if going to front of the amp and use the preamp ?
I prefer to use this with headphones. The output is stereo and it sounds gorgeous. Mine cost less than $35. It does not replace any of my Blackstar amps but it is fantastic for practicing.
I noticed at the end you had a SPARK mini. Why would you buy this Temu pedal when the SPARK app has all that built in? I have the SPARK 40, SPARK Cab and SPARK app Do you have any SPARK how to videos please?
Thanks for watching. I have a spark video somewhere in the video selection. I think the point of having the pedal with the amp would be so you could use your foot to switch on/off effects, where as you can’t really do that while playing with the spark app.
The box was useful. I kept the box. Seriously, it’s good for the price but I don’t really use now. I figured it out, played it a bit and put it in the junk drawer.
I have two of these multi-effects, the first (older) has a noise-gate and the second new one does not. . . isn't there some hidden function that turns the noise-gate on and off?

Thanks for checking out the video! Cheers!
Super helpful video thank you very much you did a great job!!
Thank you for checking it out!
some great sounds/effects on it. It seems worth the money for sure..!!
Great video. I'll save a lot of time setting it up
Thanks for checking it out!
Amazing what we can get for the money these days. I might grad one even though I have lots of other gear. Interested in the acoustic version also.
Thank you, very thorough review and demonstration
Thank you for checking it out!
just so you know everything purchased from temu so far has function very well for me!!!
Nice! Thanks for checking the video out!
Cheers.
Thank you very much. Very informative.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I bought one, and here are my two cents, aside your good and detailed review:
- In edit mode, when a button is blinking, it means the value actually played is not the same that the button position indicates
For example, your reverb button is on a 25% position, but the preset you are editing has a 50% reverb value and plays this value.
Awesome presentation Thank You!🙏🏽
Thanks for the kind words!
I got mine from Ali Express. Same thing. I use it to add Reverb/Chorus to my VOX Pathfinder 10. Good as a boost too.
Excellent run down of functions and how-to btw.
Thanks for checking it out! Cheers!
Mine is labeled "Getaria" and I got it for $10 as an add-on from Amazon a few months ago. Pretty cool piece of kit.
That’s a great deal! Thanks for checking out the video.
Quelle surprise!! Gone up in price (probably due to popularity, and this video!)
Just happened on your channel. Always wondered in general about temu. And on cheap effects devices (never owned any effects pedals or multi effects devices). You've answered both my questions
excellent .thank you
THANK YOU BRO!!
Thanks for checking it out!
Great review.
This seems like something to keep in my gigbag as a backup, at the very least.
Check out the video I posted for the new Blackbox. I think it’s quite a bit better for just a bit more money! Cheers!
Great review. Well done.
Thank you for checking out the video!
Worth it!
This thing is amazing for $40, use it in my synth rig - great over view.
I've had one for years. I love it. So much so that I had to buy another one so I don't have to plug it in and out all the time. Most of the sounds are pretty believable.
I had one given to me, I can't believe it I love this little thing it's so and it sounds great you're right beautiful Little travel outfit
Got one from Amazon different name same pedal great for playing with headphones. The website for the ir does work for the one I have
You get a light show along with all of the effects. Bonus!
I got this. For basic sounds plugged into a PA it works well. Don't expect the greatest gain distorted sounds.
Great insight. Thanks!
Two questions: Does the delay trail off after being bypassed?
Also:
Can I run the reverb without the cab sim? I'm just looking for a delay/reverb pedal.
Cheers!
Hi. Wish I could help but a friend of mine has been borrowing this thing for a long time now out of state. Perhaps someone else here can answer?
Cheers,
I just got it off Amazon along with a behringer ts and put that in the front through a power amp to a cab. 80s metal for days.
Hah! That sounds awesome!
Yeah, i actually got it for a "shed rig" to pair with the tiny tonex but hooked it up expecting shit but it's actually very good for 80s. Through a small cheap bass power amp to a harley benton 2x12 with v30s @CompanyGrip
🤘🏽
I got one about a year ago,, I have enjoined using it. I think I paid $45 for it on Amazon, well worth the money!
It’s kinda useful for the price for sure.
Thanks for the heads up! I’ll check it out. Thanks for checking out the video!
Cheers.
New to your channel, you seem cool and down to earth ,good video, subbed, thumbs😊
Thank you for the very kind words! Welcome to the channel!
Yeah! It’s pretty versatile to say the least! Thanks for checking it out!
I just got one of these arrived today... build quality is really good. Instructions not so clever but TH-cam is your friend lol
Agreed on all fronts! Thanks for checking it out!
@@CompanyGripGuitar Thank you for the helpful video 😀🙏
Was it worth it bro? Or does it seem not that goodn
Agreed - the Spark stuff is pretty awesome! Bummer about your Cube Baby though! Thanks for checking out the video.
The Blackstar Fly 3 is great too!
@@CompanyGripGuitar 👍🏼
You should do a artist series or band series on how to
Make presets for certain bands
Thanks for the comment. I don’t know if I feel confident enough to do that. I literally watched a video yesterday where someone “corrected” Eric Clapton and what he says to do in an old video on how to do the “Woman Tone”… 🤦♂️
@@CompanyGripGuitar yeah, others might disagree, but just an idea because it is technically mixing and I’ve seen presets for vocals.
They got me too. That is where I get all my cables.
😂 They getcha! Nonstop TEMU ads! How are the cables?
@@CompanyGripGuitar Not bad, just stay away from the really cheap ones, and order from different manufacturers to find out who makes the best product.
11:41 probably a 1960a cab loaded with t75 speakers recorded through universal audio la610 preamp
Thank you for checking it out! Glad you liked it.
@@CompanyGripGuitar first unit like this i know of with rechargeable built in battery avoiding power adapter and battery use. Cool. 👍🏻
The company Lekato has the exact same unit just with their logo on it so guess companies trading off on some products. It's around same price tag.
@@kevinmyles6369that sounds about right. Seems like these kinds of products have a few different names based on the distributor. 🤘🏽
@@CompanyGripGuitar Ace! Have you tried the Spark Go? Pretty good gear..
I think you messed up the review by demoing the amp models with the cab sim (IR) off. Everything is going to sound like trash without a cab sim.
Totally
I haven't tried these but I know for a fact that the sonicake stuff is really good actually. Their volwah is the best wah I've ever owned too.
Hey there thanks for the awesome video🙏.
I wanted to find out if this pedal sends midi information when connected to a computer.
I wanted to get it and double it up to control effects on my computer
Hello. Thanks for checking it out! I don’t believe it does, but I am not certain. Wish I could help more. Cheers!
@@CompanyGripGuitar it's a pleasure! Thank you
Looks pretty cool. Would this work as a USB or Bluetooth interface to my Mac with Amplitube or NAM?
Maybe someone else here can answer that. My Cube Baby is on loan to a friend of mine now. Cheers!
Oh forgot to say I am now a subscriber
Cheers!
Cheers!
@@CompanyGripGuitarThank you so much. Truly I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my questions.
No problem. Glad to help. Happy holidays.
few days ago i got my bass cube baby for 5$ from Temu. really great piece of equipment. too bad they didn't had guitar one in the same price back then :D
Cheers!
I'm impressed it worked at all lol
So glad I looked for videos on this thing. The first video I checked out, there was so much noise on any of the effects I was interested in, (to be fair the compressor was okay) that it didn't even seem worth the $6.35 it's going for right now
That is a lot for cheap. Sounds pretty good too. About 10,000 times better than I thought as well
can this be setup on a pedalboard?
I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem with some Velcro.
grazie
👍🏽
Thanks. What’s the functional difference between LIVE and EDIT mode? Seems like the do the same thing.
Great for a keyboard
They had no problem using brand names for the IR section but for the Amp Types we get things like "Power Zone" and my fave "Shittcow".
Do any of those names mean anything to anyone?
Is Mr. Smith some hot amp I haven't heard of?
Is there an amp company called Shittcow?
If so I think they are my favorite brand.
Definitely gotta get a Shittcow amp. Haha.
@@CompanyGripGuitar Shittcow.
The extra T stands for extra Tone!
I have one I bought off Amazon but it's a Lekato brand. Same thing though.
How did you get it to turn on because no matter what I do it won’t turn on even when fully charged
Maybe you’re is busted? 🤷♂️
Nice! Makes sense. Thanks for checking out the video!
Hi. You know, I’m not too sure. I let a good friend of mine borrow my cubebaby for his son to mess around with, so I don’t have access to it at the moment. Thanks for checking out the video!
35$ i got 9ne. The drives are noisy? I wonder if its got imternal pots for the phaser gain and the drive levels
Not necessarily will it work but if it does for how long?
Does the modulations have volume drop? I'm planning to build a hybrid pedalboard and I'm going to use cube baby for modulations only, thanks,
I remember there being some gain staging. Unfortunately my cubebaby lives in San Francisco at a friends house now. I doubt I’ll ever see it again. Cheers!
