Got to drive one that used to be owned by Terrell Davis of the Denver Broncos. Great experience. Total baller car. And of course it was in Broncos colors.
I would love one of these. Can you at some point do a clutch replacement in the garage to show people who turn their own wrenches the particulars about this clutch and engine rear main seal replacement?
It's actually not that bad compared to other cars as the trans is all the way in the back. Grab a buddy to help out. You can do it in about 1 day everything goes to plan
I assume the newer the Gallardo the better from a maintenance and running cost point of view? I am torn between an early manual, an early or later Superleggera or performante. I'd likely buy from a Lamborghini dealer to make sure it is PPId by professionals and take advantage of a 1 year warranty which I will try to extend. Still, a scary prospect as I do intend to drive it properly.
Whilst there was small revisions year on year the main question is whether to buy a Pre LP or LP car. Naturally the later LP cars tend to be more reliable and a bit better to drive so if the budget allows this is where I'd be looking. The Audi shared 5.2L engine doesn't have the earlier cars cat problems and has noticeably more power, the gearbox has better ratios, the clutch life improved and various other enhancements were added. Another consideration is the LP car's were when Audi's input can really start to be seen and as a result a lot of the parts aren't as exclusive and therefore cheaper (an LP engine block is substantially cheaper than the old 5.0L as an example). With all of this being said, if you find a pre LP car that's been well looked after particularly from Lamborghini these can also be very reliable and in it's favour many claim the older 5.0L sounds better due to it's firing order. Good luck with your search and let us know if you have any other questions!
Thank you so much, although the channel is a few years old we've only recently given it the overhaul you see today. I really appreciate the kind words!
@@ScottishCarClan yes, normally along to TT meets, I know John Shiveral quite well, last year had the 991RS along and the SL, looking forward to the meetings starting again,
That hard of a decision, you can afford either 😅 I’d love to have the chance, because I’d snap an arm off for that Gallardo, having been driven in one before.
Hey so I have a 2007 spider e gear , When I put it in first gear and start to go straight everything seems OK, But when I put it in first gear and if I turn the wheel to the right or the left and start to go it sounds like something is starting to bind up and start to click kind a like something is about to break , It seems to only do this at low speeds when I’m first starting to go. If I’m going fast it turns fine at first I thought it was an axle or driveshaft or something but it makes no sense why it would only do it at lower speed
Hi J. I am 95% sure on what this is … I’d be 100% sure if I could hear the clicking myself. This is almost certainly a built up of corrosion and dirt between the face of the brake disc and the contact face of the wheel. It’s easily fixed by cleaning up with a wire brush, a small amount of copper grease all over the contact patch and the clicking will be solved. I’ve done this on gallardos, R8’s, gtrs etc.
When you say "clunking coming from either the front or rear"....I just test drove a 2008, and it seemed to make some creaks and clunks after shifting and first accelerating and turning. Salesman said "all Gallardo's differentials make that noise". I thought of this video. I now wonder...should I walk away from it?
Hey Chuck. It just depends on the severity of the creaks you mention. On the rear you’ve got a diff sharing it’s oil with the gearbox, a compromised set up that was adopted by Lamborghini / Ferrari in this era so some noise is to be expected when compared to a modern car. As for the “clunks” that is more concerning and would suggest the diff is tired or is using an oil that favours the gearbox / synchros. Either way I would likely move on from this car and find another I’m afraid!
Until this video I never really focused on a steering wheels look. This sharp looking car has the ugliest steering wheel I've ever seen. The center looks like it should be for a bus.

still the best looking lambo ever, incredible timeless design
i still think this is the best lambo they ever made it’s definitely the nicest looking that new shit is stupid
My favourite lambo personally
New Lambos look like something out of a computer game . Over designed and lost its ragging bull charm !
Yes beautiful simple like the Honda civic of exotics in the best way possible:)

Finally a man that can tell me something about buying this car not just bragging about what shifty bang in it and how much he paid
It weren’t his

Hi Ben, once it is due on either the R8 or the Gallardo we'll publish the video in a "how to" format.

My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it!
My dream car too 💯
Ok I’m Australia I just got a nice clean 08-09 pre Lp Spyder, love it I had this car on my bedroom wall now I own it
Great upload. Thanks for putting together a fantastic guide. Now I know what to look for when i go gaillardo shopping. Keep up the good work fellas.
Thanks glad to have helped! And thanks for watching. 😁
Absolutely amazing content. Straight to the point & in-depth. Looking at one right now in Chicago so we’ll see how it turns out.
Do my lotus elise s2 next. 😉 Good quality content as usual Grant!
Much better video than the EV ones
Planning this in 5 years. By then, EV would’ve taken over but this is the dream!!
Could have been a 3 mins video. 80% was standard used car checks.

Fantastic! Sadly in Scotland we don't get too many days without rain so syder's are quite rare! In a warmer climate though I'd have one.
why so smoky on start up under revving ?
Another great video! Can’t wait to see what car is next. :)

I'm undecided between a Gallardo or f430,such a hard decision

Very good report
awesome - many thanks.
Love the Gallardo it's just a pity about the clutch issue.
It is Lee, thankfully some of the Kevlar options do last a bit longer nowadays!
Great video. Like the uk version of exotic car play place vids from the usa.
I haven't ever checked those guys out, thanks for mentioning. I'll take a look.
Really useful! How much is a "decent" amount of clutch?
Also, how do you know if the cats are fine?
yeah, seems to miss the important bits that an interested buyer might want to know
What if we getting it shipped and never get to look at it
My dream car: Lamborghini Gallardo 2003, yellow, 6 speed, no wing
There would be one in my dream garage too! I'll take or leave the wing!
I got rid of mine as it was quite sore on petrol.

Absolutely! Video incoming soon. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thinking about buying one since it’s the only lambo I can afford 😂 found one for $80,000 with only 30,000 miles
Just remember that buying is only half the battle. Upkeep and maintenance is not cheap!
I'm 6ft tall and looking to possibly get one of these and doing some track days. Will there be anough head room for me plus a helmet?
It will be tight but manageable I'd say. An R8 offers a bit more headroom if you find it a struggle.
