We have a qx55. My wife drives it daily doing normal driving. We don’t use it as a sports car so the cvt is not a problem. Also she always uses apple CarPlay so the old tech is no big deal. Bottom line is the car is comfortable, rides and drives good and looks fantastic
Facts same
Just bought one qx55 and the look of the vehicle is incredible. It's beau.
How do you like it so far?
I love mine I have no complaints
I saw one on the road the other day and it caught my attention. It looks very good.
Damn I miss 2007-2013 Infiniti, my favorite generation of a car maker. G37 sedan, coupe, M, EX, and FX. All look great with good engines and dynamics.
I’ve kept my g35. Best car ever. Still looks stylish and new
I picked up the 2023 QX55 Sensory - I love the car. I am in sport mode often and love the acceleration. Very comfortable and I am happy most wth the handling. Im honestly very comfortable with what they consider "dated" technology - it works well for me.
Great review! 🎉
People forget that Infiniti started the whole coupe SUV thing with the FX.
You're not wrong but I still wish it weren't a thing...
Original FX is still beautiful today, especially in orange. Loved that car.
They need to put the turbo engine of the q60 400 on it and make a sport version
I have had a QX50 (v6 3.7) and a QX70 (V6 3.7) with a real 7-speed auto. If Infiniti had just dropped the 7-speed auto in this vehicle, I could be interested. I have driven the new QX50 VC and it rides a LOT better than either of my previous Infiniti(s), a little soft but I am ok with that. The QX55 looks a lot better than the QX50. The new QX50/55 is larger than the previous cars I owned.
It’s a great looking vehicle but a terrible powertrain and now the Hyundai Genesis brand has become what they should’ve been today.
Do you call Infiniti the "Nissan Infiniti brand"?
Do you call Acura the "Honda Acura brand"?
Do you call Lexus the "Toyota Lexus brand"?
So don't call Genesis the "Hyundai Genesis brand". Genesis has come a long way and their current vehicles are the best among Japanese luxury and German luxury.

Well you technically can because each of those brands are the parent company with a lot of parts sharing in between them.
@@cedrick305 Genesis does share chassis with Hyundai unlike these brands

So are we disregarding the Kia Stinger and the Genesis G70 both using the rear rear wheel drive platform and powertrain.
I owned a G37, great car, very good dealer experience. Reliable, fun to drive but car felt dated (infotainment, etc) so I sold it. I would love to see an Infiniti that I could buy again. Now to this car, I like the looks, infotainment not great but better than many. Engine is very competitive. The biggest issue I have with this car is the CVT. I would not buy a car with a CVT, sorry, just that simple. Let’s get the new transmission in more of their line up.
Why do people want the constant lurching of a traditional transmission? I owned the QX70S and it had a terrible lag when you hit the gas, which this doesn’t have. The engine noise was also loud. This car is much more responsive than my QX70S and has much better fuel efficiency. The paddle shifters worked fine in both. Other reviewers mention how good the CVT in this is. I’m also not sure why people want a gawdy, techy interior that distracts from the task at hand, which is driving. The German makes are the worst offenders. Their interiors look like a video game arcade. And this should last many years, not like the German makes, who are designed to have major problems after the lease is up.
Right
Thanks for reviewing this car. I like the color and shape. Good to know about the CVT. Grill is too big for my tastes. I still think hvac should be analog with knobs in all cars.
If the Infiniti QX55 had the interior and transmission of the Genesis GV70, it would be amazing. I owned the 2021 Genesis GV70, but over time, the aesthetics started to wear on me. It looked more and more like a station wagon the more I looked at it.
Hope this is a way to keep GT-R alive longer into electro era
The 2022 Rogue will have the VC technology, I'm very interested because currently, I drive a CR-V with a CVT so I'm used to that tranny, but the Rogue has a lot more power and torque but still have reasonable fuel efficiency.
IMO, I'd take the new 9 speed automatic transmission over any CVT even without driving one. Especially at the price of this QX55.
I know it isn't appropriate to interject aftermarket options, however, it may be permissible on a minor scale to improve what is already good to make it better. Instead of the QX55 buy a Mazda CX5 with the 2.5 turbo, install some Cork Sport springs on it for less than $300.00, lower the ride height, improve the ride quality and have something that is quick, a lot cheaper, looks good and spares the buyer the CVT experience. This as opposed to LS swapping the Infinity. ;-)
They need to put the 9speed Auto in more Vehicles! Especially The Current Maxima SR!
Looks really good
Infinity is a super rare brand in the UK.
Looks good, a little understand like a Saab too
It's a bloated sedan/fastback. Why call it an SUV with a coupe shape. It's really like a fastback if you made it much taller but the same length. I never, ever find a vehicle like this attractive. Bloated isn't attractive IMO.
I used to lease and love Infiniti until they lost their sporty edge. They really killed this brand. I had 2 fxs and 3 G35 s. They where a Lexus with more performance. No more.
when will the endless parade of lookalike, boring CUVs end?! i guess it's what manufacturers say we want. It's a shame Americans
don't understand how much better 'real' wagons are in every respect.
New Mazda CX--50 with AWD and 2.5T just PUNKED the QX55 ;-)
Who in the heck would pay mid 50s to low 60s for this with only 2.0T and a CVT (UUGH)???
This QX55 looks fantastic but the PRICE and DRIVETRAIN are out in left field when you go see a new CX55 Turbo Premium Plus for $43k LOADED!
7:56 What's with the Tesla-like misalignment?
This engine tech is completely wasted in an SUV, especially mated to that horrific CVT. How about a base trim Z with this engine and a manual transmission? Now you’ve got a platform and brand recognition where you can market the new tech.
That’s a good idea and I wonder if this engine will wind up in an eventual Q50 successor. Although the Z and the Q50 will share the same 3.0 turbo engine.
Another $30-35K vehicle selling for$60+
There aren't enough people who can afford one to keep it viable.
There are plenty of people who can pay $60k+. Don’t project.
Have to admit, it was the thumbnail side view that caught my attention. Very handsome.
Infiniti has a couple huge problems. Abysmal resale values and highly questionable reliability, mainly due to the CVT. It's image is luxurious Nissan, not luxury brand competitor. 😒
That’s the exact same thing I’m thinking.
You rev that engine all valves bend🤣🤣👌👌
Volvo is a Chinese car; no thanks. Infiniti is far better.
LETTT'''SSS GGOOOOOOOO
It is not all new especially inside. It’s an aging interior and infotainment center that’s in need of a major refresh. The backup camera resolution is horrible. Don’t know why Infiniti didn’t upgrade it when they made the QX50 into a coupe.
The VC-T engine (for Variable Compression, Turbocharged) is so loud and they installed the problematic Jatco CVT transmission instead of the 9 speed automatic transmission. It’s no wonder sales are dropping year and year. For the same amount of money I’d rather purchase a Genesis GV70.
Does it have the sh*tty steering by wire too? I hate the fact Infiniti gave up on the wonderful 6 cylinder (I know, fuel efficiency). I used to lease Infiniti’s exclusively for years. Why? They made nice cars, the dealers were a pleasure to deal with (better than any other I have every visited) and I could get lease deals at significantly lower cost than competitors. I was shocked at how bad the car has become.
If only they sell that crate motor.
That would be interesting!
No offense. $50k for CVT. Good bye....
7:06 lmao ya ikr
as longtime wagon enthusiasts i kno u both and many other viewers kno the pain of watching ppl abandon the wagon even tho it’s literally what everyone wants (comfortable cabin space for 5 + tons of interior storage)
and so we keep re-engineering our way toward wagons from all these different (less driver-friendly) directions (lifted wagons/hatches, etc)
meanwhile no one offers proper wagons anymore
i honestly think we might be at the point where ppl might buy them if they were in the showrooms again but idk
i think young millennials and old zoomers have much fewer anti wagon feelings than older millennials, genx, +
but idk how much this is just my bubble 🤷♀️
insanely cool motor
scary complexity,,
very interesting tho
thx for giving enough time and graphics to explain :3
11:02 "as they should" +1
7:53 but look at that panel gap
Real suvs.. expeditions...tahoes.. suburbans. Sequoias.. land cruisers.. older explorers. You can put stuff in them..
I looked seriously at this vehicle. I could not buy it due to (1) CVT and (2) outdated tech. Too bad because I like the looks and overall execution.
The Dashboard looks like a 94 Mitsubishi Diamante & I can’t unsee It!😳
I just don't get it. Doesn't look half bad though.
That's a lot of money for a "commute device".
Exterior is nice, interior is dated, like from 10yrs ago
This is a terrible vehicle based on poor reliability. You think the syling is attractive ?? Buy a gremlin or pacer since you have poor taste. The trans sucks. The mercury and ford and lincoln panther platform. Was ten times better than this piece of crap.
The shape is awful.. a 1970 suburban is the right shape if you want to haul stuff. Paul this is stupid. The small opening prevents getting a large box or tv or snowblower or rented piece of machinery.. the old suv held a ton of bikes or even a small motorcycle. This stupid shape is wasteful and dumb. If you have no need to move anything get a Z4 or a cayman.. much better looking.
Infiniti missed the opportunity to make this a true successor to the FX/EX they made in the 2000's. Rear wheel drive, powerful engine, regular automatic transmission and fun to drive. I don't see a reason to take this over its German rivals or Genesis other than price.
You're not making sense. Rear wheel drive SUVs won't sell. Newer SUVs are meant to be all wheel drive and more fuel efficient esp with gas prices these days and considering that ppl are looking to go all electric to save gas. Makes no sense to have rear wheel drive that will be terrible in snow or rain.
They are fallen behind the Korean, american, and German. It is frustrating to watch.
This is freaking olddd. What is up with Lexus and Infiniti and their terrible tech/dated interiors.. The G70 blows this thing out of the water. Sitting in G70 and then the QX felt like a 10k difference minimum, not even comparing the drive.
There's nothing outdated about it. There's nothing tech wise a Genesis offers INFINITI doesn't. Hyundai/Genesis after 50,000 Miles will be at the dealership weekly for maintenance. Hyundai has never made an award winning or highly praised engine. Nissan/ INFINITI has several.
Paul you must be that things mom...
Beautiful?
Sorry, SUV's make me grumpy. Thank you guys.
Its Ugly. The Mercedes and BMW coupes are ugly too.
extremely boring
