Would love to see the team do a timed disassembly and reassembly of their rifles for some friendly competition. Parts flying every which way! Hah, that reminds me of one day on guard duty outside of Ashraf, Iraq. Normally it was super quiet at that checkpoint, but this particular day al-Qaeda decided to light up the Iraqi Police checkpoint a mile up the road. At that time, Marines on garrison duty weren't issued grenades. Instead, we had an armory locker with spare ammo and some goodies in case of an enemy assault. So, we being rather green we all grabbed more stuff than our chest rigs could carry. I wound up with a frag grenade in my cargo pocket. We spent the better part of our duty shift on edge, listening to AKs, Dishkas, and RPGs non-stop for hours, but the fight never came our way. The IPs even brought some hand-me-down Russian tanks from the '70s up the road to deal with the problem. You ever put a pair of shades on your forehead and forget it's there? Yeah, that happened with the grenade in my pocket. Forgot I still had it until I was already in my hooch back at the FOB, getting ready to rack out for the night.

in my Guard unit back in the 90's I was one of the Soldiers assigned to the even firing lanes during reshoots to "assist" the people in the odd lanes so they could qualify and we could go the fuck home. Several of the odd-laners were Officers, like that last character

Marine Corps' new course of fire begins with 5 rounds at the 500-yard line in a time limit of 40 seconds in a supported prone position. Each cycle only one round must contact in the kill box on the target. Figured after scoring expert a dozen times in the old course of fire, how bad can this be? I am not proud of sharpshooter this year. I was not at all prepared for that.
If 11C had a warrant officer position I might still be in with 35 years of service . On the flip side it's kinda good that it wasn't available because I wouldn't be able to take care of my cancer ridden mother like I am right now. Anyway the point is that I think a battalion mortar platoon leader should be a Warrant that was enlisted in that MOS. Be advised; I did do 10 active and about 5 with PAANG.
