Try taste tests of other items like regular Oreos vs great value, or cereal vs the off brand, or just all the different kinds of bottled waters out there

I literally just bought around $40 in bottled water a couple weeks ago to do just this. Personally, I found that they are all good, just some have a more metallic taste, which I don't mind.
I didn't do Dasani, or Aquafina, I did like alkaline 88, waiakeia, armor something, I don't even remember all of them... It's not something you could reliably take the opinion of someone else about, it's personal preference. There not much objectivity to it, foods are a pretty subjective experience. 🤔😊

The bottled water test would be a good one to do and the cereal or milk a long as it's the same percentage of fat like whole milk vs whole milk and so on but name brand vs store brand

I agree 100% but they used to have a whipped peter pan which was absolutely perfect
It pretty much is honestly, tried every common brand, a good portion of regional ones, and a dozen or-so nicer brands and Peter Pan honey roasted is insanely good for the price. I've tried 40-50 peanut butters and it's just flawless, a bit oily but the flavor is 10/10.
None of those “empty” jars are EMPTY!!!

The test is not entirely free of bias. If Jif is the only pb that you eat then your palate will find it to be the standard of pb flavor.
@speedierllama That crossed my mind. However, I don't remember him saying that he had only consumed Coke all his life. Maybe his tongue has a broader idea of what a cola should taste like. That being said, I don't see how *anyone* could mistake Pepsi for Coke. Pepsi is nasty and has a flavor more like a cheap Coke knockoff.

You should try flavoured peanut butters. In the uk they have Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut, Marmite, Cashew nut, Almond etc.

I think the Jif you're accustomed to and that puts it at a more "at home" for you therefore you like it more. Not to say that the others are better because I'm a Jif fan as well. So maybe get someone else's blind taste test to a more "fair" result.

I have always prefered Jif too. Unfortunately I moved countries as an adult and while you can get it here in some places that carry imports, it's pretty expensive. Maybe I'll splurge on a jar one of these days.
Fun fact: I know a guy who got named Skip because his mom ate a lot of Skippy peanut butter when she was pregnant with him. I think he's mid-50's, so I don't know what the peanut butter was like back then. I imagine that it's been reformulated at least once since then.
