he made a video where he compared the fancy touchscreen toaster against a normal one. the touchscreen toaster burned literally everything when it's set to anything but normal toast bread. Even if you toast an english muffin on "English muffin" mode.
One other difference: The eighty year old toaster will still be working perfectly in 2221. You already can't even use the bagel or pastry settings on the brand new one today.
You might have to replace some material that degrades from heat overtime. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone had replaced the power cord at one point. But I am not sure.
It makes no sense at all... The presets for anything other than norlam toast does not even work. The only "feature" it has over any cheap generic toaster is that it pulls the bread down automatically. Who would be so stupid to pay $300 bucks for that?
As a proud owner of a fire hurler I can tell you with 100% certainty that it's more fun, quicker, and is a great way to start any morning. Brings campfire cooking to a whole nother level.

You were using the 40s toaster wrong. Whenever you open the doors, they're designed to open all the way so the toast slides down on it. So that way you can just close it again and it'll toast the other side that hadn't been toasted. Figured I'd help avoid you getting burnt! Love your content man!
The 40s toaster is designed to flip the bread over when you open the flap. The bottom of the bread is supposed to slide out thus turning the bread over without touching it. As it did with the pop tart. That's why the sides are angled the way they are.
I think the 40s toaster also acts like an oven because its all closed up. It probably toasted and cooked your toasterstrudel making it taste different and/or better.
PopTarts: In the 1960s, Post adapted its process for enclosing food in foil to keep it fresh without spoiling-first used for dog food-to its new toaster-prepared breakfast food. Intended to complement its cold cereals, Post announced its new product to the press in 1963 before they went to market. Post called them "Country Squares".[4] Because Post had revealed Country Squares before they were ready to be put in the marketplace, Post's biggest competitor, Kellogg, was able to develop its own version in six months. The product, advertised by an animated, anthropomorphic toaster named Milton, became so popular that Kellogg could not keep up with demand.[5] Originally not frosted when first introduced in 1964,[6] it was later determined that frosting could withstand the toaster, and the first frosted Pop-Tarts were officially released in 1967. The first Pop-Tarts came in four flavors: strawberry, blueberry, brown sugar cinnamon, and apple currant.[5] As of 2021, there is a wider variety of Pop-Tart flavors, including hot fudge sundae, s'mores, raspberry, and cinnamon pretzel.
I like this channel because it really shows that you don’t news a lot to create an entertaining channel, like he just sits in his garage and try’s a bunch of stuff and it is extremely entertaining, and it makes me feel like I can also very easily make entertaining videos
The flavor is given by the aromatic compounds being emitted from the fruit mix,so if the temperature is higher it may have separated more of them. It clearly depends on the what thing it is.
I remember using the sandwich smear method for toaster strudels way back. Because the old toaster was holding more heat inside, it may have cooked the interior of the strudel better, thus the greater flavor. If you had started with a cold toaster, it probably would have been the same.
I appreciate your Pop-Tart safety! The worst burn I've ever gotten was from a Pop-Tart. I took it out of the toaster and my fingers pushed through the pastry and into the filling. It stuck to me like napalm! It was horrible. I had huge, terrible blisters on three of my fingers. I couldn't even hold a pen for several days. 'Twas awful!
That’s funny you legitimately thought there would be a difference in toasting quality between them, considering they were made to do the exact same thing. The only real differences between them is that the one from the 40’s was made roughly 80 years ago and built out of high quality, durable materials.
Dude.. mind blown from the flavor when making a sandwich out of the toaster strudels. I always ate them as one but never thought to do what you did.. The flavor of doing that just tops it. Especially with the strawberry cheesecake.
@@adammetzger4182 This $300 touch screen toaster concept is a complete mystery to me. Toasting stuff has got to be the simplest of all the cooking processes our species has discovered. Bagels are only meant to be toasted on the cut side. Also the reason it’s hotter coming out is because the moisture is being trapped on the back side of the bread against the metal wall. Could also explain why the toaster strudels filling tasted better. Not dried out. The 1940s toaster toasting just one side of the bread for a sandwich or bagel would probably be much better with chewier bread.
oooo, I would actually love that old fashioned toaster, I always pop and flip my toast around, I never leave it in the full without doing a flip and then a turn 😂
Try the original pop tarts (no icing), heat them then add butter! Better than iced. BTW they make bamboo tongs for the toaster. Better than burned fingers, look em up on Amazon.
I think you should do the same test but reverse the order of toaster usage, because when it comes to the taste test portion you are typically getting a “fresher” result from whichever toaster was used last.
1940's toaster vs 2021 toaster.. I bet in... 5.. maybe 10 max years, that 2021 toaster will be a part of someone's microwave, or a ladder, or be in a landfill somewhere. That 40's toaster will still work. That's why landfills and pollution are such big deals. Manufacturers (and via marketing... you) want cool, slick, shiny, feature rich, products. Not something that does one thing and will continue to do that one thing after you are dust. Also, with a simple electrical outlet timer and some practice, you have the same thing.

The Strawberry Strudel in the older toaster was actually cooked, thereby enhancing the flavor. The new toaster merely heated it up.
That's what I was thinking too. The slower heating or something got the flavor to permeate? Interesting.
