The thing is that Ea's true power is to literally delete reality, we see it when Gil erases Iskandar's reality marble. It's a construct that is called "divine" because there's nothing better to call it, but it literally goes to before the very existence of gods.
Therefore, Shirou's mind cannot understand it, because it's a concept so alien that it would be like trying to see a new color. Every other weapon is connected to humanity in one way or another, even through myth, and Excalibur is connected to Shirou through Avalon and Saber, but Ea is just alien in every sense of the word.
Maybe if Gil was his Servant...

@@beo3828 Not really, he has confirmed in the past he lacks several weapons of Divine Origin, mostly those granted by the gods and then given back. For example he lacks Excalibur as that is a weapon granted by the planet and overseen by fairies. And he especifically mentions lacking Vasavi Shakti since he planned on taking it from Karna as a spoil of war in CCC. Another example of a famous object he lacks is the Ten Rings of Solomon containing all knowledge of Heaven and Earth.
Basically, there are a lot of very loose rules of what he does has. And Nasu never specifies hard rules.
bottom line. he CAN project divine constructs. he just needs massive amounts of prep time but just because he can doesn't mean it isn't going to fk him up in the process

Ea is a weapon that predates so many things. The Age of Gods I imagine or a point prior was when this weapon was made, because I imagine that this sword has such a high level of mystery, divinity, and is simply Ea. We just know it was made, but not from what or where or even WHY. Like with Excalibur, did Ea have an original wielder? So many questions...
Ea predates the Age of Gods, and even life on Earth itself. We know for a fact that it was used during the genesis of the world while Earth was still molten by an unnamed god to order the Earth.
Ea is the terraforming device used to create the earth as we know it, so yeah, it predates the Age of the Gods by an insane margin.

And even then Gilgamesh isn't entirely out of line, Ea is to quote Mihawk "Hunting a rabbit with a cannon." when applied to almost anyone else save Gil himself or Enkidu, it's "the" nuke, in a sea of servant weapons that are basically nukes. He still held out on using it for too long against Shirou, but that's partly because Shirou stumbled into Gil's major weakness, which was not going all out against an opponent he saw as vasty inferior...which to be fair Shirou was...till he wasn't.

My thought process about his limit creating Divine constructs always came down to the material used and what he knew/could comprehent, so something like Ea that was made by matirials man can't understand and it's forging process being similar just made it impossible, where as some other DC he could either understand the making process, the materials, or a bit of both and he just continued from that filling in the blanks the best he could.
You would think that, until you realize a bunch of those Constructs are made from alien beings too. What do you think the Greek Gods were? And they made all the constructs the Greek heroes used.
I've always thought that Emiya couldn't comprehend EA just because it's a foreign weapon not made within the planet and that's how I've viewed Shirou copying divine constructs as possible but foreign constructs impossible.
I mean, he can make a weapon similar to Excalibur, which is made using the Sword of Ares as a blueprint (and that is a weapon from another universe altogether). He really can if he forces himself enough, but it is not worth it.
@@lenleon3699 yes but it's made within the planet. Whether or not it had a blueprint from mars, it was still within made within the planet which means it can be comprehended as it is not of foreign material.
@@voyager5082 I do not think Nasu has ever said Emiya has a hard limit due to where it is created. If he can understand the weapon he can make it, THAT is the hard limit established by Nasu in a material book. He is able to create degraded imitations of Divine Constructs by just imitating the power created by said weapon, but not a true replica.
Meaning, if he were to actually be able to gauge even a portion of the power of Ea (like he did Excalibur’s) he could maybe make some dollar-store cheap Ea imitation. And get killed by the backlash to his mind since the information would be too much (same issue Tohno Shiki suffers when seeing death).
Shirou had Avalon in him AND a connection to Saber, thus he can grasp the Concept of Excalibur. Ea on the other hand is something even Gilgamesh rarely pulls out, not giving Shirou enough to even start comprehending it as it isnt like anything hes seen before...
Also ea isn’t made from stuff on earth and he doesn’t even have a ruff blue print live Avalon to use to made excailber
I think it's interesting that kid Gil and Caster Gil don't have EA, not even in the 7th singularity. I believe either caster Gil hid it away somewhere ,where no one would be able to get it.Or maybe Archer Gil having a version of every weapon gives him some sort of right to wield EA.
I imagine that Gilgamesh probably got Ea around the time that he was ready to take the throne, meaning that he was already a grown man at that point which is why Kid Gil doesn't have it. The reason why Caster Gil doesn't have it is because Archer Gil had to "re-specc" in order to become or at the very least imitate a mage(and mock the Grand Caster in the process). Since Ea is a sword that predates swords it had to be sealed away with all his other non mage stuff.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it was stated in the Babylonia singularity (not the anime) that Gil (kind of caster but not actually a caster) explicitly said that he sealed away EA. I forgot the exact reason but I believe it was something along the lines of ending the Age of Gods (or the influence of the gods) to make way for the Age of Humanity in a diplomatic sense (even if some remnants of the gods technically remained).
@@mrfafaa96His other weapons weren't sealed away. It's stated that he gave away all his non-mage weapons to the soldiers of his city or put them as ammunition in his cannons. I can't believe that would include Ea, but he doesn't pull it out during the Singularity.

He did seal EA in babylonia singularity, simply because is too destructive to be used. This is also the reason why He summon his Archer self using himself as catalyts. Casgil knows he already sealed EA, so he summon a version of himself that haven't sealed EA to use against Tiamat.
Well, since you’re doing comment questions, here’s a fun one: who’d think would have been a better servant for Rin in the “original timeline” if she wasn’t suppose to get Archer? To be fair let Shiro have Saber since that’s a constant but let Rin have any other servant (from stay night or any other timeline/universe) except from the saber class since we don’t really know how the war went down in the original timeline. (I know it’s meant to be a paradox, but it’s just a interesting/fun idea)

He made a video about which archer class servant Rin summoned in the original timeline. Not a video about which servant class she would summon if she wasn’t able to het a saber or archer class servant.

What if EA is the Key to the "Universe Before Conception"?
While Ea's materials are specifically stated to be alien to the World and not Universe as predates its formation and considering the difference between the world ( planet ) and the "World" ( reality ) and Ea's purpose being splitting/destroying the World ( reality ) it makes Ea's materials down right eldritch at this point. Consider that would mean it's materials are probably from a different plane of existence.
Honestly Shirou would have been even more broken if he installed any of the other Class cards from or following the war. Gil Archer aside if he installed Sakura's Berserker Lancelot his Noble Phantasm would easily enhance Shirou's abilities. Saber's card would give even closer affinity with Saber and Excalibur, etc.
This got me thinking about Gilgamesh in the 8th singularity Movie, i thought to myself can't gilgamesh just use EA and kill Gētia? Would Gētia have a way to counter such a powerful weapon? Gētia the one who terrorized multiple Realities and Human's existence, Turned out to be not really powerful, we see Mordred and Nero a B rank servants, had him going serious, they didn't really injured him but still, this got me wondering what would've happened if someone like Berserker Hercules had fought him? How can Gētia be this average in power? isn't Solomon/Roman a Grand Caster? If so, why couldn't he defeat Gētia?
It should be noted that when muramasa uses UBW to create divine constructs they are his unique interpretation of them and usually nothing like the original outside of the concept
Even if shirou understood how EA functioned he wouldn't be able to trace it properly because the thing barely counts as a sword and its origins predate every form of craftsmanship,the closest he could get to it is probably an Excalibur like sword that can generate the same reality destroying winds by using something related to EA (like larval tiamat's,enkidu's or gil's spirit origin) as a base

If I remember correctly, Fate magic system has this... Attribute. Rin has all five elemental attributes, so she can use jewel magecraft to manifest plenty of techniques. Tokiyomi, Rin's father could literally summon fire. Sakura had hollow element, which allowed her create that unique magecraft in havens feel. Shiro, has attribute "Sword". He, needs to perceive, or somehow accept something as a sword in some way. Sword or maybe a weapon. In that sense, he technically could trace and make a gun. Archer EMIYA could use Caldebolg's fake as an arrow. Shiro could also copy excalibur. He could even mimic the nine strikes technique of heracles from his memories through his weapon as well.
But, Ea is... I think Ea is just Ea. Not a sword, wand, gun, technique or magecraft. There is no definition, classification or rather... anything really, to truly define Ea. It is something like a divine construct, but it is beyond a divine construct.
It is in its whole, unique, one-of-a-kind entity which has its own rules and structures. So, it doesn't fit into any element or idea of sword itself, and Shiro being a less then averagely competant mage, he could not overcome or make-shift something which could resemble Ea due to its structure far beyond Shiro's understanding, and his attribute.
His Alter version made guns that shoot bullets that create swords from inside those they hit. A very roundabout way of piercing someone with swords.

Idea of sword versus the incomprehensible wind-making cylinder like thing he literally could not "read". He couldn't even try to make something that "looks like" Ea when he saw it the first time.
Personally, I would have preferred that Shirou/EMIYA would not be able to copy divine constructs at all. Similar to how Servant Gilgamesh's version of Gate of Babylon changed into containing all recorded used man made prototypes through out history(and the divine constructs he collected while alive), Shirou should be able to replicate anything man-made that he has a understanding of while divine constructs are just that: divine, out of this world etc. But I'm glad that at the very least Ea so far has not been lessen in a way that allowed Shirou to copy it. I know that a big part of Fate is that mystery, magic and the unexplainable is in a decline, but it would be nice to keep some mystery around anyway. Like you said in your video, Shirou's whole thing is swords while Ea was created before the very idea of swords was a thing. It doesn't even look like a sword and is so far outside of Shirou's mental perception of a sword that it doesn't make any sense for him and it shouldn't either in my opinion.

I agree. Though to be honest, I'm not really afraid about that. According to the lore, Ea was originally used to build entire planets by gods, implying it's even older than Earth itself. Whatever that thing is, it is connected to primordial energies in a way no other NP or weapon in the Nasuverse is. Heck, it doesn't even have a true name, Ea is just the name Gilgamesh himself gave to the weapon. This is a level of Mystery that surpasses everything.

Question: According to the wiki, and I'm paraphrising here, 'If Shirou sees a weapon, the blueprint is not recorded in UBW permanently yet, he first needs to project it outside, and then finally after that the blueprint is placed inside ubw as a physical weapon to call out anytime for cheaper or something.' If that's the case, would that cancel out certain requirements like with Avalon? Can a Shirou project Avalon without Saber being there after a having done it once already? Also Excalibur. After either Shirou or Emiya have done it once, is there a permanent copy of it or Avalon inside UBW from then on? After all, the thing is super expensive to project even once, but having done it somehow, would a permanent copy be forever more inside UBW then? Imagine Emiya uses UBW, pulls strong, beefy enemy inside, and Emiya now doesn't need to project Excalibur because he already has one inside and can instead just use his reserves to charge up a blast while tidal waves of NPs distract said enemy and keep them from moving towards him.
That's not exactly accurate. Basically any weapon that can be recorded by UBW will automatically be done so no tracing required. However as has been demonstrated a couple of times Shirou/Emiya can trace items that aren't stored in UBW such as divine constructs so long as they've recently seen them and have the blue prints. This also extends to things such as fishing rods with basic computers built in, lamps, ice-cream makers and any basically any other item he's recently analyzed.

Excalibur was special circumstances deluxe. All times he comprehended it there were ‘special circumstances’ that let him create it. One of them being having Avalon for so many years.
EA isnt an alien weapon all together? Considering the Summerians relationship with the Annunaki, the gods that made Gil were made from Tiamat if i remember right, so it even predates the primordial chaos, I dont think it can be replicated by anyone, even Gil shouldnt have the blueprint.
Yep, if I remember correctly, not even Gil knows Ea’s true name or origin. He just decided to call it that. Weird that not even him with SNI could dissect the actual name and origin of it.
Possibly. The lore states Ea was originally used to build and shape planets by gods. It's possible the god Ea himself existed since it's weird Gilgamesh specifically used that name to call the weapon (which would fit considering Ea/Enki is a God of Creation, among tons of other domains, in Mesopotamian mythology). In a sense, that would make it an alien weapon.
Ea is most likely the weapon form of the unknown Goddess of Catalhoyuk.
Both was stated to have the power of the stars, has partial control over the Root, and apparently predates everything on the planet.
So here's a question: Could Shirou or EMIYA use their experience with tracing weapons to forge new mystic codes and proto phantasms if given the appropriate material and resources? They'd lack the mythological and conceptual weight of an actual phantasm, but could carry the same qualities as proper noble phantasms?
I think that's what the bow he uses is, the only original creation of EMIYA
@@britishjack9931 iirc, EMIYA's bow was made from a material that has not yet been discovered during the events of fate/stay night, it is not per se a real noble phantasm nor does it possess any sort of mystic codes or mystery to it, but more of just a bow he specifically made to be durable enough to handle Broken Phantasms.
Iirc recall he can make custom weapons or he can customize his weapons

Hey, just wanted to thank you for responding to my comment, it was a great video, I knew most of this information but i had a little difficulty wrapping my head around it so this was very helpful. You did mention in the video that it could be possible to trace ea if he had more of a connection to it but said that it would be unlikely. Now I’m thinking what if Shirou had installed the Gilgamesh card in the Miyuverse or became a Demi-servant to Gilgamesh in some other way, if I’m understanding this correctly now, he should be able to trace ea now as that would probably give him the proper connection to it and could probably even wield it as he would technically be Gilgamesh, that all of course being if he had enough mana to pull it off and it would still be impractical to use it over the real thing. I know this is well within the realm of head cannon and Shirou is plenty awesome as is but I just can’t resist theorizing what he’s capable of!

For some reason, I believed “Ea” was referring to the latin word for “she”; so I was a little bit disappointed when I found out that it’s most likely referring to the Japanese word エア (Ea) which means air.
It is a reference to the sumerian God enki, later known as Ea.
It's explained that Gilgamesh himself chose this name as a reference to the God when he decided to name Ea.

In UBW route, Shirou cuts Gil's hand before he can activate EA, takes the severed hand still holding onto the NP and somehow prevent the weapon from disappearing even after gil is terminated by EMIYA

It’s just part of their legend, while dead apostles are the “real” vampires (of that world) that originated from the moon/type-moon.
Dead apostles are undead because of magecraft or a true ancestor's magic. Dead apostles are only vampires in that it's the closest matching term (undead usually blood-drinking magus) and Servant Vampires embody the IDEA of Vampirism itself and as such are not the same thing. Heroic Spirit vampires are not Dead apostles, because it's their myths, legends and sometimes noble phantasm turns them into Vampires.

The term dead apostles still exist in the Fateverse (Kiritsugu’s dad, the airplane and the bees guy, the strange/fake master of assassin) but they’re not the same across all of Type-Moon. Kind of like how reanimating a corpse through forbidden magic vs a mind controlling virus both produce “zombies” but aren’t necessarily the same. Suffice to say True Ancestors don’t originate from the Fate timelines, if I understand the lore correctly. Tsiah made a video about dead apostles and their differences.

Well if we can drop thoughts here, why did Tokiomi even have Sakura when he had Rin if I remember correctly he said it was a blessing that zouken offered to adopt Sakura but why even put himself in that situation and have Two children when he said himself that any mage family with two children one will not be able to inherit the family crest, and also I’m pretty sure the aozaki is a special exception but I’m confident that tokiomi knew about them and why not take the risk and raise them both since he should know who touko is and how strong she became without her family crest, and tokiomi said himself that both Sakura and Rin had uncommon promise as mages so why not train both. (Sorry if I missed something and that’s why I’m not seeing why he did that)

He wouldn’t have been able to have the crest cuz the crest needs to be given to someone with blood relation to the family of the crest itself

For example Rin is in constant pain because Tokiyomi transferred it in a rush and even then it took days
Kiritsugu probably could have transferred his crest to Shirou if he took enough time but even then it probably have crippled Shirou until he summons saber

What I'm trying to say is...
Why not just have a story where EMIYA/EMIYA Alter himself, is sent back to the point just before Ea was forged so that he can witness the it's forging process, learn from it's creator and have it's Blueprints provided to him?
The creation of Ea is like a pseudo-pillar of pan human history right? If someone copied GOETIA and created a Singularity where We was never forged then the Epic of Gilgamesh would never be the same. There would never be an object that was called the "Origin of All Swords" so to speak. It would be like Morgan's Lostbelt where weapons like bows for Archers never existed and neither did certain heroes, perhaps due to lack of those weapons or some other reason.
I guess my real questions are: What would happen if Heroic Spirit EMIYA was there to witness the creation of Ea as well as acquire/be provided with it's blueprints materials to recreate it? Would something like that be enough for him to be able to make his own versions? Or would it require a living Shirou EMIYA to be there instead so that such the recreation of Ea by Shirou is recorded on Heroic Spirit EMIYA's record on the Throne of Heroes?
In my opinion, having Shirou present when Ea is first created for whatever universe ending reason that requires him to be there, would fix the "lack of information, familiarity and material."

That is to say, it would have to be a Lostbelt where Ea was never forged because of a similar reason to LB6 where the Faeries refused to forge Excalibur and allowed the White Titan to destroy all landmass in Lostbelt 6.
So, I guess it would also mean Gilgamesh isn't the same as we know him (or her) or never existed. Or this could also mean Gilgamesh hasn't been born yet or is in the time before he is given Ea.
So if it were a Singularity/Lostbelt (or both like in LB6), someone copying GOETIA would have to go back in time and prevent Gil ever from getting Ea by any means necessary, or make sure Ea was never forged in the first place. This would leave us with a main story or an event story where CHALDEA has to intervene to restore that Pillar of Humanity for Pan Human History to not collapse.
Naturally, the World itself always summons the right Servants for the job. And if Ea hasn't been forged yet or was destroyed... then a Blacksmith Servant or more, would either already be there by the time CHALDEA arrives, or CHALDEA would have to summon one to help fix the situation back to its proper timeline counterpart.
That said, the cause for Ea not existing could simply be the Gods seeing that Gilgamesh will end the age of Gods in their future. So instead of letting Gilgamesh be designed and allowed to be born, the would just make sure he's never born. And to make sure no one takes up his mantle with Ea, they would just make sure the God who forged Ea never forges EA in the first place too. Kinda like the whole Zeus and his pantheon thing where they refuse to let the Age of Gods come to an end.
So we would have to make sure Ea is forged (like Excalibur in LB6) or reforged (if it was destroyed). And we would need the blueprints and materials from the time Ea was forged in order to fix that Lostbelt/Singularity as well as make sure Gilgamesh exists.

I've heard other people saying that projecting excalibur would kill Emiya. But to me, that conversation in UBW sounded more like he was threatening saber with mutual destruction if she interfered with his fight with Shiro. Not that he would be killed by projecting excalibur, but rather that he and she would both die in the resulting clash of excaliburs. But I didn't read the VN and I don't play FGO, so...

Hey guys , I've started my fate journey not too long ago and I've been loving it so far and i want to know more about it, and that the problem since i get lost trying to connect the dots sometime in this "nasu verse " (Idk what the hell this lol) , so far I've watched fate zero , stay night ( all 3 routes) , lord elmeloy's case files , apocrypha, the newly released Strange fake special episode, and currently I'm in fate Grand order where I'm lost lol since I've lost track of the events knowing that there is 5 or 6 chapters that aren't adapted yet and i didn't like the mobile game so i can't know what happened ( I've tried looking up on yt but didn't understand shit) also I'm aware that there is another story from the fate author called garden of sinners ( didn't watched it yet)wich is connected to the fate verse, so I would appreciate any recommendations, explaining or any source material ( mainly manga )to understand this masterpiece and continue my journey with fate (also sorry for my English still learning)

Could EA possibly be made by some alien gods that we weren't introduced yet? If this weapon existed before the world then that won't include any god on earth or earth itself, this also doesn't include all the ultimate ones since it's also unlikely to happen at that time. One of the most likely is an alien gods like Zeus, umbral star/Velber, or maybe like the alien god U-Olga Marie.

Funnily enough, the only way I can see Shirou being able to come close to copying Ea is if SOMEHOW, he gets Gilgamesh (Any variant might do) and gets the Blueprint from their memories, assuming any of them have used their absolute broken Clairvoyance Noble Phantasm on it to understand everything about it, so Gilgamesh might be the only one in all Fateverse who can say with certainty how and with what Ea is made.
Of course for Gilgamesh to be Shirou's servant is also about as likely to happen as Saber and Gil shacking up.

Lion King Artoria aka Goddess Rhongomyniad would annihilate Gil. Her Light of judgement is far stronger than even the strongest noble phantasms used by servants. She can summon her knights of the round and provide blessings to them. She can summon her city of Camelot which it's wall can block all malice.

I think the reason why he can’t replicate EA is because the blueprints have been erased from history completely, most likely erased by EA’s full power.

Unlimited blade works is a Broken ability but the limitations are kinda hard to know as more noble phantasms get released the more the ubw arsenal increase 😂

Ea concept are predate the existing of the world and made by the gods, those concept itself are the reason that made it impossible for Shirou or Archer to copy, the same reason why they can't copy Excalibur either, only the Caliburn

Basically the issue is the fact that ea is ea
It is a simple concept, delete
We know its mythological origin but not its physical origin
Ea is basically an abstract concept that only gilgamesh wields
This is all anyone knows, meaning it is essentially mystery beyond mystery(such concepts cannot be classified correctly and will be placed withing the most fitting class) , there's no origin to trace and no identical concept given physical form like ea to be based on(no forging method thus no info) . This all leads back to where I started, even with all this info, all we know is that ea is ea and that's why he can't trace it, there is no origin and due to its age there never will, its like trying to trace a shadow in a room without the concept of shadows(nothing to trace onto the paper), the existence is abstract and thus impossible. And this all just the information ubw has to process, there's no point in finding the *astronomical* energy cost when simply comprehending it hurts the trace user and thus failure follows leading to the events we all know and love (fate s/n)
