As I watched you build this list, starting with 2 full, core platoons, I said, "NO! Go with 3 understrength platoons." You did just that. In place of panzerfausts, take panzerschrecks as they're an extra stand with pretty much equivalent stats, but longer range. I like the rest of the core formation, nice. As for support, you stuck with the D Day German book, using Heer. I'd go over to the D Day Waffen SS book for support. Though hit on 3+, you get more kit. For recce, you get the SS scout troop for 2 points ( 1 SdKfz250 (mg), and 2 SdKfz 250 ( 2cm). 3 SS Wespe's are only 7 points, so take those. Rather than 4 x 88 Assault flak (8 points0, take the 4 SS 88's for 10 points. Now we get armor support. The FJ StuGs make sense and look good in an FJ force, however, let's look at points again. You get 4 SS StuG's for 19 points or 4 SS PzIV's for 18 points. The 3rd FJ Div fought alongside the 17th SS in Normandy, defending the St. Lo area. I build "historic lists" and this is what I'm going with. Lastly, (LOL), the letter "W" in German is pronounced like a "V" in English. Wespe sounds like Vespa. I enjoyed the article immensely. I did 28 years in the US Army, 27 of those in Special Forces and worked a lot with German allies, (GSG-9 anti-terrorist unit (all were prior FJ) and Kampfschwimmer Kompanie (combat swimmer company - German Navy SEALs), earning Germany's parachute badge and expert marksman badge. That's why FJ are a favorite of mine.
Hahaha yeah, I like to film the entire process so it does change often. I've even changed lists when I'm starting the outro 🤣 excellent points with the SS, I might look at some of these lists again and see how I can better improve them.
@@paintingpanzers The weakness of SS armor (Panthers on down) is being "aggressive, hit on 3+". BUT, being fearless, they also rally and remount on 3+. I'll take my chances.
Wespes are a must as they can’t be pinned, the mortars use for smoke & Wespes for pins. As others have said you can drop platoons to 7 & add a shrek for extra bodies. If there is a card to change a platoon to pioneers? Is another option might add. Fear vet StuGs are great & I think you need the 4 of them. PaK 40s yes, though I tend to worry with static guns as it’s easier to negate with smoke. If you’re not taking tigers, you want 88’s. Good range & turntable.
Exactly! This is what I build, 3 understrength platoons (7 stands) + a schreck. Although the full strength, 10 stand platoons are strong, having 3 x 8 stand platoons (counting the schreck), makes the core formation harder to break, meaning better survivability.
@@paintingpanzers Agreed on mg's over rifle/mgs, BUT, as with all other German units, going with mg's over rifle/mgs adds another 2 points per platoon. Just compare grenadiers to panzergrenadiers or storm grenadiers to verify this fact. FJ are expensive enough as is, so I;ll gladly take them as they are.
Hm... I disagree with a lot you did. 😉 -) I think putting two pln to full strength is the right thing to do. That gives you 12 stands per pln. 27 shots (if all can shoot). That's a lot. -) It is an inf list still. HMG pln is a must have. -) A 4 gun mortar pln isn't that good. I would delete it. -) I would take all 4 PaK 40s. They have a lot of punch, a gun save of 3+(!) and a gun shield. They can send nearly all allied tanks to scrap metal hell. That makes the formation very expensive so your support chances are limited. That is simply true. As german late war ülayer you always have to look into the sky. 😉 So I think some light AA guns are more appropriate than the 88s. Stugs and Artilery? I agree. If you wanna save 1 point - that's not much - you can take the 105mm artillery on Lorraine Schlepper. Well I didn't count the points. Maybe my recommendation is a bit over 100 pts. But I think in general it is a good idea to bring your formation pln up to full strength.
Your comments are always great as you've got a ton of FOW knowledge. I agree with all your points except foe the full strength platoons. I've gone three over two in tournaments and I found that those additional platoon comes in super handy. However, I should try the full strength to see the difference 🤔 Thanks again for your comments mate, keep them coming 😍
When it comes to taking light AA over 88's, you have to consider things your opponent is LIKELY TO BRING. Because air support requires a 4+ to arrive, many consider them a waste of points. I know I do. We just don't see air all that much. Now consider how much enemy armor you're likely to face. I know plenty of people who like to go with an all armor force. FJ can take a lot of punishment and still be standing, but they need AT assets to whittle down enemy armor at distance before they try assaulting. Lastly, I'd consider 3 PaK43's (AT17) for 13 points instead of 4 x 88's (AT14) for 12 points if your opponent has a reputation for bringing real heavy armor.

I completely agree with your points mate, I think I should've tried to sneak in a couple of shreks but i lacked enough points at the end!
My platoon (7 stands + 1 shreck) destroyed 2 us rifle platoons and 4 shermans in last game, fallschrimjager's can be really nasty
Absolutely mate. I just wish they had MGs instead of Rifle/MG 😅
