Yo.. This is by far the best video on CGC shipping books. Now.. A vid on how to fill out the invoices etc and how to figure out which time frame for books etc.. It can be pretty confusing etc
Thanks Gary. This is very informitive. I agree with the other comment, about a vid on filling out the invoice. I haven't sent any books to CGC before, partly because Im a little intimidated by the process.
Thanks Gary! I'm trying to submit my first batch of comics to CGC and have been trying to do my homework on how to ship them out, and this was one of the most straightforward and easy to follow up guide I've seem thus far. Appreciate your content!
Yes you can ship via UPS and FedEx. You just have to get their actual address and not their PO box. CGC has it listed when you are going through the order instructions. Or you can call them and they will give you the address. I just went through it and shipped them via UPS
This was very useful to me. I am getting ready to send out my first batch and was looking for guidance! I appreciate having this video as a tutorial, it was a great resource! Thanks for making this video.
Started watching you months ago Gary. I think your videos are awesome , learn a lot even at 53 years old , been collecting since I was 10, own about 300 white large comic boxes of reading goodness. Just wanted to say Thank you so much for your videos.
Thanks for the tips,Gary. I Never thought of the pull tabs🤦♂️. Ever think about doing a video about filling out a invoice. I know I was a little confused filling out my first. Might help other. Good stuff Gary. 👍
Got my first batch of 10 books boxed up and mailed. Mostly enhanced covers from the 90s. Mostly wanted cool looking books to display. I ordered 2 smalll shipping kits because they give you the credit. Ordered some of those mailers you used and will probably use the flat rate shipping boxes for the outer box because they're free at USPS. Used your pull tabs so no knives necessary.
I just started watching your channel. I enjoy the comic shop hunts the most. I like the pull tab idea. I have been wondering about how you do your cleaning and pressing. Maybe you did a vid on it and if so I will eventually come across it. Thanks for the good shows.
"Don't be poppin those bubbles!" haha. In all seriousness, I agree with the multiple box - layers of protection (I do the same), your books are worth the little bit of extra time and cardboard! Excited to see what you get back!
Hi Gary, I am about to ship some comics, thanks for these tips on packing, they are great! I wish you a Merry Christmas, and lots of joy and profit in comics!
The pull tabs are genius. I agree. Never trust anyone not to use a knife or file to open a package.. Also CGC wants you to use painters masking tape for packing lol ridiculous...
A couple questions about modern (90s) comics that came polybagged with swag in them (e.g. X-Force #1 or Superman #75): I know CGC doesn't grade comics in polybags, so what do you do with the extra material? As a collector/reseller, does that extra material really impact long term value (assuming value will rise over time)? Thanks for insights. Glad I found the channel.
Was genuinely wondering how one would ship it after a press so that it wouldn't get that spind bend that happens when you stack alot of books together and apply pressure for a long time so this was extremely helpful, thanks man👍
Thanks for showing this. I’m starting to look at my collection again and I am considering sending a couple of books to CGC. I appreciate you showing a proper packing and will probably rewatch when it is time to send. Now to figure out whether it is worth of sending them in...
Nice video and it was indeed helpful. I will be submitting my first group of 5 books for CGC grading. I've got my invoice as well. CGC has their own vid on packing books on their site and I wanted to see it from someone else so, now I'm solid with the process. One of the books is Thor 163 with a double cover!!
Thanks! I sent a lot of my spec books and valuable stuff to CGC but I recently sent a Skyward #1 I have no intention to sell to EGS to get that cool custom label to try that out. great vid!
Informative video. This is very similar to how I mail comics I sell, with mailers and pull tabs. I don’t know how many comics I’ve received in a manila envelope with no bag or board, or cardboard.
Very helpful! I have a ton of great books but I am terrified to ship them. I will use your tips to further my collections value for sure! Many thanks Gary! Great content as usual
Excellent video. Thank you. I was stacking books all back to front. I always wanted to do front to front, back to back, because I thought it made more sense that way. But, the CGC instructional video that I watched did it back to front. I'm going to do your way from now on. Makes more sense. Btw, Fedex is ok for shipping to CGC.
I use the same method except I use the blue 2 inch painters tape instead of the clear scotch tape it is wider so it puts less stress on the 4 points of the books during shipping and less likely to get glue residue on anything during packing and unpacking
great video. i was going to do my first shipment this way but cgc’s packaging video is different. have you ever had any problems with them using your method?
Gary how do you estimate value for insurance purchase when shipping via USPS? Just GPA for each book at the grade you estimate it at? Or do you not insure? Good video on packing; pull tabs are a must!
CGC has an alternate address other than the PO Box listed on the sight for UPS and FedEx. Have you tried this yet? I'm worried as I have done both in the last two weeks. Love your content btw...
Very helpful. But do you have to have a box cgc sends you and if you are only willing too only ship 1 book to cgc can I use a much smaller box? I am playing to do my very first cgc submission soon. And very exsited but olso kinde nervous.
Just found this video of yours (i asked about making a video of you shipping off 25 pre-screen books the other day, lol) I believe you put 8 books in #1, can you fit 9 in one of the others to get to 25 books? Or is it safer to just do 6+6+6+7 in the gemini mailers instead of 8+8+9? Thanks for your help Gary
stupid question man, what if you do just one book? do you still just only use gemini mailers with pull tabs like that? I'd be afraid it's somehow get pulled in transit lol
Where did you get those particular Gemini shipping boxes? All I can find online are 2 completely different looking ones called Media Mailer boxes and Comic Flash Mailer. Neither one fold up like yours did.
@@VeryGaryComics Thanks. The ones I see on their web page looked a bit different with some small pouch in the center instead of the end folding inwards. But maybe I am just not seeing things correctly.
Why put the books smashing against each other face to face? If you want to alternate spines you can just spin 180 upside down (not flip over) then you still have board against comic and spines alternating. The rest is great. Nice pull tab idea.
Great video! Quick question, I own slabs but never submitted myself, so how does cgc determine the value of the book? Or is that something I do? I’m trying to figure out cost and what option to choose. Thanks for the awesome content!
Basically it's up to you. But you cant send in a super expensive book under the value tier. They'll upcharge you. Otherwise they usually don't care. One of the reasons for the tiers and price differences is so they know how much to insure your books for
Is there a comic bookstore or person who provides this service. I live in Europe so not easy to ship myself if i want to buy comics online in the US. Thanks
I have books bagged and boarded from the days I first bought them, in the 80s and 90s. They have been well protected all these years, would it be ok to send to CGC in my original bag and board, or is there any reason why I should have to rebag and reboard?
I do a few shows a year. I also do live sales on Instagram as well as post books on Instagram. I maybe doing an upcoming auction right here on youtube.
I mainly use usps for shipping. Is signature required recommended when sending to CGC? And what is estimated normal cost to send comics, assuming 10 books in Value range?
Those pull tabs are legendary!
Yo.. This is by far the best video on CGC shipping books.
Now.. A vid on how to fill out the invoices etc and how to figure out which time frame for books etc.. It can be pretty confusing etc
If I can figure out how to record my computer screen then I'll do it
@@VeryGaryComics Awesome!! Can't Wait!! You are doing a great job so far!
Very dilligent thanks!!
Thanks Gary. This is very informitive. I agree with the other comment, about a vid on filling out the invoice. I haven't sent any books to CGC before, partly because Im a little intimidated by the process.
Same here man. All CGC I own were bought as is.

This is great. From past issues I had with the post office, add more packing than you think is good is what I always go with.
Absolutely love the Tabs Idea, definitely gonna steal that one. Thanks for the great packing advice, cant wait to see the return unveiling!!!! 👍
This is such a comprehensive video, and the pull-tabs are perfect! I'm going to start using that on all kinds of things I package! Thanks!
This is a great help, I’m looking to ship my 1st comics this year so will definitely use this for reference

very helpful. I am going to use the tab thing. brilliant!!!

The gempire!
So glad I found this video. I am about to send off 3 signed comics for grading, and I had no idea what was the best way to package them!
If you send signed books to cgc you'll get green labels back
It was better than the instructions CGC gave! Thanks and will be sending out my first batch this week
Those subscribers starting to grow. Well deserved, loving the videos.
