What doesn’t he show how he finishes off the running stitch? Or even show the backside? The back side of the project should be as neat and tidy as the front side of the project. I could follow only because I did learn from a person with many years of experience.
Jay Cadiramen Agreed, as a teenage boy I always feel kinda left out from the sewing world, especially quilting. So many white blonde wine moms. So many.
@@SequoiaSleeps Would love to see more guys doing crafts of any kind. Someone needs to be the next Tim Holtz! Or a helpful TH-camr with great instructional videos like this.
@@SequoiaSleeps I met a nice Lancashire man as a child, and his crotchet,,knitting, embroidery etc. was something to behold. When he was hospitalised after being wounded in ww2 he filled his time doing these “ domestic” skills which won the admiration of many, including the ladies. That’s not all. He was a fab cook too. Times have changed.👍
I have watched so many embroidery for beginners tutorials, this is by far the best I have seen. Easy to follow and no speed ups 🙌 I have subscribed and saved this video for reference. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Thank you for your excellent tutorial Adam. I have been embroidering for a number of years and your clear, concise instruction is, I feel, exactly what a beginner need to set them on the right embroidery path. You are a natural teacher! Best wishes Marion in the UK
Adam, thank you so much for your wonderful, non-patronizing video for Embroidery beginners. Your calm voice and easy manner draws the listener in and allows you to concentrate, without interruption, therefore taking every bit of information both audio and visual, in. Cannot wait to watch others. Thank you and best of luck with it all.
I’m a card maker, paper crafter, and many of my favorite papercrafting goddesses do embroidery on their cards. There are stitching cutting dies, and since I have them, it’s time for me not to fear stitching and just dive in. I found your video, and only a few minutes in, and oh my, thank you! Looking forward to growing my craft repertoire and stitch with the big girls!
its so wonderful to see a man leading this tutorial. sometimes i feel like the only guy in the world who likes to sew. ALL arts and activities should be for EVERYONE!
You just have to own that it's a feminine interest 🤷♀️ it's like girls into PC gaming. No men are stopping them from playing, and no women are stopping you from embroidering! Enjoy the crafting :)
Thank you. I am a complete beginner and needed clear instructions to get started. This was very clear and logical and moved along at a sensible pace. The guy has a gentle, soothing voice which seems really suitable for instructing on such a peaceful craft.
I've been looking at other videos, no disrespect but they don't mention how many threads they use....I just kept looking for a video that tells how many threads, & you explain each stitch...I love that....
Adam does a great job explaining the stitch with nice visuals in a calming voice. Some videos are way too fast for learning a new stitch and some are way too wordy. He's is just right.
Thank you for the explanations of the stitches! I purchased a kit that teaches you how to do many types of stitches, but the included video has no explanations, so my stitches weren't being done properly. Hearing someone say how the stitch is done while showing it is so helpful!
i’ve started embroidering for a few days now, and i always have trouble with the french knot stitch. where it would knot at the surface of the fabric :| but i’m still getting started! i have hope
This video is very helpful. I'm a total beginner, trying out different stitches. I was trying the chain stitch, and a lot of other videos tell you to bring the needle up through a loop of thread. I found that method very difficult. This method of going under the previous stitch was MUCH easier, and looks lovely. I look forward to trying the other stitches in this video.
Thank you so much for the video. You're voice is so calming and relaxing that it made me jump up and find my embroidery project, which I then did whilst listening to the video. I haven't touched it in ages so, again, thank you for the inspiration.
Wonderful tutorial. French knots seem to be my nemesis. (Half are perfect half are wonky.) Biggest issue found was that most tutorials go too quickly with a right handed teacher (complicated it for my left handed self), forget to mention to move to a nearby position (not the starting hole), and attempt to use a length of thread that is inappropriate for beginners (too long or way too short). But yours allows for easier viewing and a good place with a great explanation (so either hand can figure it out). Thanks so much for this.
Your tutorial is explained wonderfully, I am a beginner & have not seen the chain or daisy stitch done that way, it’s cool done that way. When you were explaining the daisy stitch, I could not find how you got there. Will go & look for it again an other video. Enjoyed your relaxed teaching & explanations. Thank you for sharing 👏🏻👏🏻
I appreciated how many threads you were using per stitch type and how clear your instructions are. I just watched 2 other videos and they don't mention how many threads each time like you do. That extra detail to know is very helpful. Thank you. I may follow my late mothers footsteps. She made clothes and knew even how to repair a sewing machine. She also made stuffed dolls and I remember when I was 2yrs old, watching her make my dress with a matching purse doll. I still have it to this day. She was taught by her step mother, Thelma, who made dresses for her granddaughters, so the dresses my mom made me, look just like how, Thelma, made dresses for her granddaughters.
Thanks for the quick information! I have never done embroidery, but, at the request of a niece to make her a doll for her birthday, I found myself needing to stitch a simple face. I didn't have a hoop (at all) and definitely not one small enough, but I managed. It turned out great, and the stitching is pretty neat, thanks to your great tutorial! I ended up using the back stitch and satin stitch. Thanks!!
Thank you for this. Can't wait to start. I'd love to see examples of when these stitches are useful and what result they lead to in different designs. Is this possible to share with us? :)
Of all the stitches, my running stitch was the ugliest. Hahaha! But all my bad, though, because Adam is a superb teacher; his voice is soothing, his instructions, clear. I wish he lived next door to me.
Thank you so much! I've been trying to learn how to embroider for a little over a year now, you showed a slightly different but easier way to make some of those stitches and I appreciate it a lot!
Thanks Adam, a very helpful tutorial. I haven't embroidered for years and had forgotten lots of the stitches. Now I'm ready to start on my embroidery project.
Only been to England twice so I might be way off, but that has to be Lake District (Preston area) accent. My favorite place to be in England. That accent sir is pure zen you have my full attention
I Just started embroidery a couple months ago and let me tell you I have been missing out! Its so calming and beautiful and precise. Thank you for this tutorial, it's easy to follow. I was wondering why my chain stitches were awkward and uneven. I was coming up from the same hole as the previous stitch not going under it. I cant wait to practice again!
Thank you for bringing us this very useful tutorial. I've just picked up a couple of projects I had drawn up from a few years ago. And this video was so helpful. Always good when you have a folder I put your tutorials that I want to look back on at some point. Again thanks for spending your time doing these for us.
That was helpful; I'm trying to self-teach so I can do some fancy embroidery on jackets. I'm still trying to find out what happens on the back, with regard to finishing a colour, changing to another colour etc... but thankyou for this very clear demonstration of the stitches.
This was so helpful! I was struggling with my lazy daisies cause I was doing them like fly stitches with the anchor last-so seeing it in motion made it so much easier to understand. Great instructions and visuals!
Thank you for explaining this, it really helps beginners. I've tried watching other vidoes, they show you but don't explain and I find that frustrating. So thank you.
Thank you so much!! I could NOT figure out how to do French knots for the life of me! I followed your tutorial and struggled a bit at first but then I finally got it and it actually looks perfect! I was shocked haha thanks again so much for this! 🙏🏻❤️
