    I want to learn,, should i start in the complete kit that i can buy online or should i buy and make my own canvas?

    • @Jouerart
      @Jouerart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Hello Dear, a starter kit with all the tools can be very usuful specially if you don’t have any of them, and save you from any frustration about what you should buy or not .

    • @Jouerart
      @Jouerart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      If you want to buy by yourself it ça be cheaper and this is what you need: a hoop embroidery :if you really want to get in embroidery choose wood if just for one project or to test go with bomboo it’s way cheaper but not to last .
      2- needle embroidery
      3- scissors any that cut thread
      4- floss embroidery : take 3colors to not get bord with one
      5-fabric, any fabric you can take any thing around you and you don’t need , or buy cotton , popline...
      6- a pen any pen or pencil
      7- un picture from Pinterest you can find a lot.
      8 - and most important your hands 😁

    With the whole staying indoors thing, I decided to take up embroidery on a whim. Now I'm hooked and I want to become really good at it. I wanted to make a Filipino flag with and embroidered duck on it since my Lolo is Filipino and loves rubber duckies. Buying face masks all the time is a hassle so I wanted to make a cloth one. This tutorial helped so much and my first try turned out great! He loves his personalized face mask (with filtration ). Thank you so much!

    I am BRAND NEW to this type of hand embroidery. I love your channel. I am a believer in having the “right tools” for everything. Which hoops do you use to keep the fabric so tight, and do you use a floor stand to hold your hoops so that both hands are free? Also, how do I know how many strands of thread to use for each stitch? Thank you so much, I love your beautiful work!

    • @Jouerart
      @Jouerart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +57

      Hi Debra and welcome to the embroidery world , the hoop I am using is from Nurge, and yes I use a stand but just for filming ,in my regular days I like to hold my hoop , the answer for the stands depend on you and what you want for exemple if you want to try a stitch or a small design in order to learn use all your stands if you want a délicat result use 3 stands , less than that will be very délicat work , it is like marker (6stands ) and pen (3stands) no one is better it’s just all about result you want to have hope that my answer will help if it’s not please ask Iwill be happy to help you ;)

      Baroudi Broderie hello Baroudi, thank you very much for your reply. I’m starting with hoops and fabric I have on hand just to practice. I will look into a hoop from the company you mentioned. Mine don’t seem to hold fabric tight enough. Thanks again!

      I have seen suggestions and videos where the broderer wraps the hoop in a strip or band of fabric, which makes it non-slippery so it grips even a light fabric well.

    What a fantastic video! Everything was very clear once you started stitching - except the Cretan stitch, because the thread was too dark to be able to easily follow what you were doing, but further down it got more clear, and the open version was even more helpful. I haven't done any crewel work in, oh, close to half a century, but now my fingers are itching to try it again.

      Hi Brianna , as a beginner you will need a small hoop from 10cm to 15cm , a pair of small scissors, a piece of cloth any one can do the job better if yous start with cotton fabric , a floss embroidery n 25 or any thread like wool or standard sewing threads can be used to try stitches , and needles embroidery needles number 5 , 6 or 7 if you use embroidery floss if you are using wool it will be tapissery needle with any number, if you use standad sewing thread any needle that you have at home can also do great job to start you first stitches. hope that answer some of you questions :) Just start with what you have at home

    My mom just inherited a haberdashery. I help her at the store, but we don't know anything about threads. Almost all of our clients are American women and we are sad that we do not know much about the art of embroidery. Could you tell me which threads you use in the video, please. In Spanish the threads that people use to embroider are the hilasa (it is opaque) and another one called crystal (kind of glossy), I do not know if they are called the same in English. Thank you

      Hi Agnes, I don't know how to name them in spanish maybe some one can help you to translate you what I am using as threads:
      in this video I used DMC brand with 6 stands Numero 25 this is the most common kind of thread used in embroidery
      I also used at the number 9 leaf silk .
      in my other videos I use branch brand named au vers a soie perlé
      I like perlé DMC N 5.
      Please feel free to ask me any questions if you feel that you need more explanation. I will try to do my best to help you with great pleaser.

    Well done! Thank you! One comment: you would do your advertisers and viewers a service if you edited the video to accommodate the ads. For example, you could vary the speed and timing of your fast forwards to more exactly fill the time between the ads, making them less disruptive. If you did, it might give you a competitive advantage in attracting advertisers, since most people just slap them in. It bothers me more with your videos, however, because they are so very good! I wait impatiently to hit skip and get back to watching you. I don't even know what is being advertised, nor by whom.

      For all the stitches I used a 6 stands embroidery thread, except in the 9th one I used silk thread but you can take any standard embroidery thread same as the other stitches ;)

    Thank you for the awesome video. Can you please tell me what type of thread you are using? It looks so flat. I tried a few of these stitches and mine don't lay down as flat as yours do. Thank you!

    • @Jouerart
      @Jouerart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi thank you medebymila , threads I used are mostly DMC but in the short long stitch it was silk, for the flat effect reduce the number of threads try 3 and 6 stands even with one stand if you can but it it take so long to do , I recommend starting with 6 stands like you did in order to see the mechanic of the stitching and after that reduce them to 3 is the best. hope that my answer will help , thank you again :)
