    Shweet! BO is getting the hang of disposable fairings....
    Meanwhile at SpaceX and Rocketlab they are moving on to modern rockets that retain their fairings...
    Those will be New Glenn's competition, if it ever sees light of day.... :)

    10 years, we got a small 2min space peeker for 7 passengers(one captain that has gone where noone has gone before, and didn't record his thoughts) , and a fairing that fits a rocket with no engine.
    Let's go! However they just hired a new director at #BlueOrigin, she's gonna make you fly higher and faster for sure!

    Imagine if they actually shipped a production, working BE4 engine...

    • @Nowhereman10
      @Nowhereman10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The first production engines are essentially done according to sources and both a set of late iteration engines will be shipped to ULA, the dev engines will be used for the static firing and then the production engines will be installed for the first flight. Also, word just came through the pipeline that Sierra Space is falling behind with Dream Chaser (Tenacity will not go to Armstrong in Ohio for full up testing NET July) again, so that flight, regardless is now most certainly delayed to 2023.

    • @EvilMerlin
      @EvilMerlin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Nowhereman10 essentially done and shipping are NOT the same thing. Not even close. ULA has already said its doubtful Vulcan will see a launch in 2022, and there is no fucking way New Glenn will launch before 2023. The BE4's were supposed to ship in 2017, then 2018, then 2019, then 2021 and now with the "small production delays" it just slips further and further back. Between the money the US government and US citizen tax dollars have dumped in to Blue Origin and SLS, it mays it quite clear this is more about pork and boondoggles than it is funding space exploration.

    • @Nowhereman10
      @Nowhereman10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@EvilMerlin Please cite the source that says that. Not only has that not been verified, but no one in even NASAspaceflight has said any such thing. Yes, I do pay attention to the L2 section and I know what's said and not by industry sources there.
      But we do know that Dream Chaser has slipped in going to NASA's Glenn center up in Ohio, so it's unlikely that it will launch this year.
      Furthermore, the amount of taxpayer dollars spent on Blue Origin is rather minuscule compared to SLS and the vast majority of the funding still comes from Bezos.

    • @janpohorelicky6990
      @janpohorelicky6990 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, but flex in X-axes is ok, the Max Q stress is in Y axes and the "shape" can withstand way more pressure in Y axes. Something like Redbull can. In Y axes you can step on in and it will hold your weight but in X-axes, you will smash it.
      SpaceX has similar flex - it's rocket engineering, you make as tight margins as possible so barely holds together but does not breake :D

    • @Nowhereman10
      @Nowhereman10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It does exist, actually. The parts are being built and assembled in Florida. Last year they showed the forward interstage module which was later spotted going to another building for structural and systems tests. Propellant tanks are also being built and tested as well, and the engine and landing gear aft module according to sources has been built. The only thing they're really waiting on is having enough BE-4s for New Glenn and Vulcan.

      @@eduardt7253 It's a problem when you keep blowing up stuff because you're not doing your homework. One of the early prototypes was destroyed because they emptied the bottom tank while the top tank was still full. Come-on that's been known for like 60 years to be a bad idea. Or how about when they destroyed a prototype because concrete was shattered by the engines and then hit the fuel lines? Look at videos from Peenemunde in the forties. They used flame diverters to avoid that.
