    Your glasses are fine, it's not always an age thing, some children have them.
    My close up vision is getting blurred, i don't think that's too bad for 51 year old eyes :-)

    They will not boot if the battery icon is still Red. Once Blue it will boot but they are notoriously slow if they have been dead flat. It was nothing to do with the metal shield. Quite frankly I don't mess about changing chips I just buy cracked screen units off Ebay (as long as they show some life) and change the mainboards. My fingers have no feeling and changing soldered chips is now beyond my physical capabilities. To be fair they are a very resilient unit and probably one of the best performing tablets, still!

    Regarding your eyes and glasses I am the same. But a great Optometrist told me to exercise my eyes more as I work with computers 8-10 hours a day i.e. Fully focus on something in the distance and then something close 10 times every few hours. My eyes are about 30-40% better and sometimes forget to wear my reading glasses.

    Anyway to bypass the chip till run it from the 5-volt DC mains input? I note most of the board seems to be well under 3 volts I see jumpers for phones on youtube but just wondering if it could be done for these tablets?

    This got me into a question: Inductors from power supplies have the output or the input voltage on their coil endings?

    • @electronicsrepairschool

      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inductor Depends of the schematic usually on DC is the same output

    My original chip is a Texas instruments BQ 24296 / TI 461 / C7VX
    I've purchased a replacement, but only noticed its actually a BQ 24296M / 7C8 / AFDE chip.
    I've looked at the manufacturer data sheet. Both have the same chip fitment, however there's a slight difference with the original showing two connections for USB PHY and the new M chip only shows one connection for PHY.
    Is this new chip any good still? Or does it have to be exactly like for like??

    Congratulation on your another successful job and also video.
    How did you know that a particular IC is IC charger?( There can be so many different IC that works as a battery charger that are used by different manufacturers).
    Do you have any trick?
    Thanks

    I have the same problem with the charging of my Hudl 2 and after replacing the charging port board and it making no difference I wired a cable directly to the battery and connected a 5v 2A charger to it and it charges fine in a few hours.However I don't like my solution because lithium batteries should be treated with care and a cable hanging out of the side of the tablet isn't a great idea. I want to try your solution of replacing the charging chip - do you perhaps have it's identification part number please? Great video!

      Electronics repair school Thanks for the video ,but have a hudle2 that takes a charge (1.85amps) but Will not power up nor show a charging light.Swapped a known good battery and replaced the charge chip featured in your tutorial.The fact that it takes a charge surely eliminates the charge port pcb as faulty?
      Any ideas would be welcome.

      I suspect i've got the same failure too - The part number on the chip in my Hudl 2 is Texas Instruments BQ24296. These seem to be readily available on ebay. I've just ordered one to see if this solves the problem.

    Sir, I brought a linear power supply MAISHENG MS-305D, but i see/notice you increase the current while charging a battary, but for my DC power Supply, i cannot increase current when charging the battery (is there some i can do to increase current?). THANK YOU

    • @electronicsrepairschool
      @electronicsrepairschool  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes you can, you have 4 knob's there

    • @maltahamed
      @maltahamed 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, i have four Knobs two for voltage (fine and coarse) and the other two for current (fine and coarse). but when i connect a laptop battery or phone battery, i can increase the voltage but the current will not increase, if i rotate the knob. If i connect transistor or other components i can increase the current upto 5A. is there i solution to that with battery?

      I've seen advice given to poke something in the reset hole of the Hudl, unfortunately only the Hudl 1 has a reset hole, some people have poked the mic hole instead on the Hudl2 by mistake.

      It was the charging control chip on the mainboard. Once that fails it will not charge nor will it boot up since it also controls the power output to the mainboard. After the charging board it is the most common failure on these tablets.
