    Thanks Alex. This machine is my son’s HP laptop. We recognized it by the dent in the top of the case. So glad you were able to repair it for him. He needs it to complete his last semester in college. Really happy it’s not a paperweight and the data lost. Great work.

    Hi
    As usual clear, concise & truly educational.
    It is a pleasure to watch a professional applying his craft & willing to share his expertise for free!
    Incidentally in a recent video, you were going to repair an ECM but ran out of time.
    Hopefully, we will see that repair.
    Kind regards

    Excellent videos, had a customer come in requesting a USB-C replacement and I had the same thought, they both look fine and I am pretty sure did not die at the same time. So your video helped me diagnose the problem and I referred the customer to your business when I found that the inner most USB-C Chip was shorted at both the caps to the right of it and the diode to the left of chip was shorted too. So they will either be sending to you for repair as I do not have microscope/nano solder equipment to feel comfortable with that repair, I only have a Atten hot air station so I can change the ports and such but in my area I seem to be the only person doing that part. Thanks for your great videos!

    I've just had this problem with my HP Spectre x360 15".
    I was at the point of buying a replacement battery (just out of warrantee).
    BUT saw a "reinstall BIOS" comment on an HP forum.
    It worked! Now charging properly again - and for nothing...

    Ha, just got one of these (older i5 version) from a friend in town with no charge as well. Runs fine off the brick, so I'll be digging into it this week. Not expecting much difficulty and it was free for me, so it'll just be a spare or quick flip.
    Convenient timing, though.

    Hey @Northridgefix, I am attempting a fix my own spectre x360 15" and I was wondering if you knew the part number for the main power IC from 1:46 . I've found the two smaller ICs already, but I thought I should grab one of these as well since the short on mine is close to it. Any of your knowledge is appreciated. These videos have been very educational and given me more confidence in doing my own repairs, and if I fail, I know exactly who to call.

  • @TheEuropeanFox
    @TheEuropeanFox 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    A common issue with these is the usb-c port stops working. It's sufficient to switch it off and hold the power button pressed for about 15 seconds.
    This will reset the usbC chip. Issue generally occurs after a Bios update.
