    Good, another customer happy :-D
    Most switchmode supplys are pretty good at shutting down if shorted out.
    Laptop bricks are so common for cable and plug shorts.
    They also have bad output smoothing capacitors.
    I've watched Jessa jones/Louis rossmann and other repairers for a long time, the smd capacitors are a bloody pain for shorting out.

    • @GregM
      @GregM 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya those three caps are known to short and can take out the backlight driver and the diode in some cases

      myMobileCellution, as he shown in the video, a shorted cap is heating up. The petrol is evaporating when this happens. You will need a microscope or a magnifying lens

      GrM Mihai I think he meant not just that situation, but what is the rule, when you know a cap is heating and you know which one, but question is can it be remove, or it is important one, and need to be replaced.

    • @The_Real_Chris_Topher
      @The_Real_Chris_Topher 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    He goodmorning Sir,
    Wow i realy admire how you go by steps to find the problem.
    I have also a problem with my laptop and i started watching with the meaning that i can maybe fix mine.
    You had a video about a Dell XPS wich goes on and off.
    Well the graphics is not the problem for me. i posted my problem on some forum's but not much. Im out of ideas.
    So i thought maybe your reconize my problem and i know its hard to diagnose from a text. But maybe some tips where to look for??
    I have a Acer Aspire 7540G and the problem is that when a put the power brick in no charger ligts comming on
    Same without the battery.
    When i push the power button on the laptop its goes on and off after 2 seconds (same as the Dell XPS) But when i hold the power button down
    it stay on untill i release the button and goes off..
    Also RAM is not the issue i tryed without battery i tryed all the same.
    But i found it strange that the power brick lights on the motherboard dont come on they dont get any voltage.
    But when i push the power button it has power..
    The charger gives a 19V output.
    Maybe you reconize it or have some tips for looking.
    Anyway Thanks for reading have a good day and keep it up your realy good at it.:)

    Hi sir, I am an electronics student and in my university they do not teach us pratical things like repairing ... so when I watch your videos I understand what you say and do but when I try it by myself I cannot because I do not know where to start in the motherboard I've never tried to fix one, so I ask you please if you could do a video to show step by step where to start and why ? how do you jump from a place to another and if you can use the datasheet one time for a beginner because on the board it is hard to trace the circuit diagram. And I have a question : I do not understand when and why use a powersupply ? how do you know that there is a short by reading the amps ?
    If there is any Link, Books anything that could help I will be very gratefull.
    Thank you for your help sir!

    Hello, how come you get amps reading one the power supply when it is shorted? When I check if shorted, my PSU would make a clic sound and goes off and I just can't make anything hot. Any idea? Thanks, great video!

    • @raulmiguelramos
      @raulmiguelramos 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Buy a dumb PSU (maybe a linear PSU will do). Switching power supplies have protections can't allow you to have the output short more than a micro seconds. Is not easy to know if a power supply is linear or switching some have that in specs but...most not and maybe, some linear have short protection, the modern ones have, so you have to ask to the manufacture or someone that have a particular PSU.

    • @thierrybeginl
      @thierrybeginl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a linear TekPower TP3005DM. But the ground and the negative pole has a metal part linking them together. Should I take this off? I see it's a good protection protocol but not for this situation. Good input, I was wondering why it would never take amp and click to short lol thanks Raul

    • @raulmiguelramos
      @raulmiguelramos 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "But the ground and the negative pole has a metal part linking them together. Should I take this off?" Is not a easy answer from my part at least: is more secure for the man and the machine to have the negative grounded to make some fuses or brackets to blow or disable instead injury the man or the circuits in question; other think is noise; should be other answers (for example prevent some changing in polarity in some circumstances, i think ) , on the other side i don't know if you can mod the relay with a button or forever with a wire with the plate in place (modding equipment and/or putting amps in a short circuit is always dangerous, take care and if you do it, it is your own risk).

    • @thierrybeginl
      @thierrybeginl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raul Ramos i won't modify that anyway xD i'm not there yet :P I will go for another cheap psu that doesn't have a short protection if I understand

    We must replace long screw correct place ,
    If forget it
    The result is ...
    Looooooong screw damage .....
    Very difficult to repair long screw damage ...
