Take that first round exit. Then your excuse can be "What's Love got to do with it" looking like Tina Turner after Ike.
This who game was packers and bears trying to one up the bad/questionable decisions. While LaFluer's winning percentage says good/great coach the end game management, big game meltdowns and/or team not being ready for big games, and lack of accountability for mistakes is wearing thin with the packers fan base. If the packers were going for it on 4th down then the timeout makes sense.......however if you are kicking the field goal you make bears call timeout in case of a miss you have 3 timeouts to use or you burn clock and leave bears 15 seconds. Just weird with clock management issues in league as most average fans seem to grasp that better than coaches seem to. Each timeout saves 40 seconds of play clock along with whatever play takes when ran.....routes and tendencies might be rocket science but how clocks work isn't one of them.
I can’t remember who, maybe someone at football outsiders, but ~15 years ago someone seriously suggested that every NFL team should have a coach whose sole job was clock management.
One minor issue. A Packers win would give them a CHANCE at the number 6 seed if they won. (But given what we now know eventually happened in the Dallas vs Washington game, it wouldn’t have mattered.)
It was like a minute between events. Packers knew they were the 7 seed and decided to end their season on a 3 game losing streak to the Vikings, Bears, and Eagles And this proved that, yes, the Bears are better than the Packers and the Packers are the worst team in the NFC North.
That isn't a minor issue. That is a bang your head up against the wall level of miss. It means that the entire basis for his stupid decisions video is pretty much pointless because the outcome of the game didn't make a hill of beans of difference. From a stupid decisions standpoint, I somewhat wonder about putting GB's starters in the game. It sounds like Washington was beating Dallas handily, which meant they were getting the 6 seed regardless of what happened with GB. Once that became apparent, there is an argument to not risk the starters. Still, there is an argument against that.
And, they didn’t. So, this dumb decision had absolutely zero impact on the postseason. I really don’t understand the dislike of lefleur. He has an outstanding record and has guided the pack to a lot in the post season.
Coincidentally, the Commanders scored the game winning touchdown right as the Bears kicked the game winning field goal, which is kind of a double whammy for the Packers
They aren't getting cur bstomped by Philly. Hurts hasn't played in a month and the Eagles aren't a juggernaut. This will be close one way or the other.
Very sad for you, then. I guess you can celebrate a meaningless game, then. It had no impact on the pack (they were the #7 seed regardless) and didn’t help the bears get anywhere. But, hey bragging rights as every other team in the north made the playoffs.
What a stupid comment. It’s about winning, and ML made a horrendous decision. I’ll say it again he is not a good in game coach, and lousy when it comes to managing the clock. Overall record is very good, but many of the big losses are the direct result of decisions he has made
Having a dumb decision about you made in 2 different seasons against the same team, but the games not even 1 year apart is a stunning display of derp. Truly impressive out of Mr Lafleur
i'ma paraphrase what our Announcer Mike Keith said to a lot of the decisions including Time Management this year, "I'm Beginning to wonder if ANY of the coaches in the league know how to do basic MATH when it comes to Time Management anymore"
Hi Matt, having time outs in your pocket late in the 4th Qtr does not mean you need to use them esp if it ends up improving your opponent's chance of winning. Pretty basic strategy esp for a 6-year nfl head coach. 🤦🏼
Bears fan here. I have watched the Bears make those decisions for the past few years. I feel your pain - but I am also more than happy to watch someone else feeling it for a change.
I was at that game. We left with about 4 minutes left because I was still freezing like hell doubled up in clothing. Thanks for ending the streak, LaFleur!!
So this makes how many times Matt LaFleur has made Dumb Decisions? Oh and I noticed yesterday was the 5th anniversary of the first Dumb Decisions video (Chargers kicking a field goal in the Freezer Bowl playoff game)
Not sure what Tom Grossi and Annie Agar's reactions were yesterday after Packers loss since was extremely upset with my Pats losing the #1 pick by winning. I don't see LaFleur on the hot seat unless they completely collapse in 2025
He isn't on the hot seat. Dude went 11-6 this year and is in the playoffs. He continued to make the playoffs after Rodgers was traded. IF the Packers fired him, there would be a dozen teams lining up to hire him. His seat is ice cold.
The Packers lost to the Bears, the Chicago ever loving Bears. The Packers are gonna lose in Philadelphia next Sunday. I'll still cheer for my Packers, but I've already moved on.
Remember, these guys are professionals. They've already let go of the poor decision and moved on to studying Philly. Hopefully Lefleur has learned. We'll see Sunday, anyway.
The Bears are honestly lucky they won, because they absolutely should have had a Dumb Decisions moment as well. They ran a 2pt conversion play which failed miserably when an extra point made more sense, but the Packers got called for a penalty so the Bears would get the opportunity to run the play from the 1. Except now they decide to go for the extra point instead. I was immediately thinking at the time that if they lost it would be due to that bizarre decision.
going for two wasn't a dumb decision level mistake. bears had made most 2pt attempts this season, and it would have made it a 9 point game if they succeeded, only a 7 point game if they didn't. If they scored on that 2pt attempt literally nobody would call it a bad idea since it would have clinched the game. so not really something that belongs here
Two nickels don't buy you much in 2025, but 45 years ago in 1980, you could buy 2 packs of hockey/baseball cards, lots of candy, etc.. I'm living in Canada 🇨🇦! Still am living there!
@joeallan3706 No. Packs were $.25 each, if not .$.50. Candy wasn't a nickel since the mid 70's. I learned about inflation as I watched my Snickers bar go from a dime to a quarter in 3 years.
Sorry but i cant watch this right now. Im still too drunk as a broncos fan celebrating with thsome chief fans d for the chiefz find new way to kick the bengals out of playoffs. Hilarious and beyond what i expected with new qb with horroble dead cap.
there are 2 erroneous, but very common in the NFL mindsets at play here 1- lets call a timeout and make sure we have the field goal in order, as it is such a big kick. coupled with the worse one- 2- theres not enough time for the other team to do anything any way. this second one is the most bizarre. its as if everyone still thinks its 1987 and last second comebacks with less than a minute on the clock are a rare thing and unlikely to happen.
I want you to do a video on the Steelers-Bengals game. I looked at the comments and the media, and after Russ’s stupid first down run, nobody noticed that number 88 on the Steelers was running to the sidelines, and I don’t think he got off the field before the snap. Fortunately, the Bengals got a sack on the play, but wouldn’t the refs have to run in and allow the Bengals a chance to substitute, which would make the Steelers waste even more time? I assume had the Steelers won the game and that play was a good Steelers play, I might have heard of commentators and media talking about it.
He went 8-9 in 2022. I know that's cherry picking but it's inaccurate to say he's never had a losing record. Also, the Commanders won so this game didn't cost the Packers the 6th seed lol.
@ He could hire a guy just for that. And he could give him a title. Maybe the special teams coach and he’ll know things like this just for this kind of situation. Or and this is crazy but hear me out. Asked the kicker. 💀
The timeout was called because MLF wanted to give the kicker extra time to line up and make a 55 yard kick. This is no small task in the cold…and he HAD to make it. The defense also had a chance to stop the Bears. The dumber decision was to have DJ Moore (easily their best WR) in single coverage on 3rd down and the entire middle of the field uncovered.
In the last snap before the game winning kick, Chicago lined up in a formation that I’m unfamiliar with. Three receivers on the right lined up in a vertical position instead of the general right Trips. Left the middle wide open for an easy slant. What’s confusing me is whether the formation was a great offensive call, or if the Packers defense flubbed their coverage. If anyone is familiar with the offensive formation, lemme know.
What was worst was the defensive position they went into with 15 secs left to let the Bears throw a 30 yard pass across the middle with nobody covering. This play put them in range to be able to kick the field goal. So it took two really bad decisions at the end to lose the game.
I think I see what LeFleur was saying though, in that he wanted to call timeout because he was actually considering going for it, and it didn't strike him that the FG was a 55 yard attempt. He wanted time to plan out an actual play. Dumb decision but unlike some other calls, I can accept this reasoning and I can understand how a coach can get caught up in one thought process and not consider the other possibility.
I'm still happy about my vindication of the Vikings being frauds. If we can beat the Jaguars by 20+ with a patch job defense and the Vikings struggled to get the win vs the same team by 5, you're frauds.
I mean, the simplest way to put this is: Chicago was going to take a timeout. So even though you mistakenly wanted to stop the clock there, the other team was more than willing to do it for you. So all the "whays the beat/optimal strat and scenario" talk is irrelevant. The clock was going to be stopped. Although...... maybe this is the result of Chicago playing the long game by not taking a timeout on thanksgiving. It was a work all along to deceive Green Bay into a panic and stopping the clock for fear Chicago wouldnt.
12:55 I won’t say the Bears didn’t mismanage the clock at the end of the first Packers game, because they did, but saying, or at least implying, Santos missed that kick because he was out of range, when we have no idea if it would have had the distance as that kick was blocked, is just wrong.
That “out of range” Cairo Santos kick was 46 yards in 60 degree weather. The game winning kick Cairo Santos had here was 51 yards in 20 degree weather. i think he’s speaking out of his ass
One more thing-I think the Packers shouldn't have tackled DJ Moore so quickly on the last play before the FG. If they waited a little longer before tackling him, there would have been no time to spike the ball.
Wasnt this game moot because Washington had the tiebreakers and did indeed win, so they were locked into 7th regardless. The team didnt know that in real time so they played it out.
The only saving grace is commanders won in the last second, making this game irrelevant. It was still a bonehead decision, but the impact didn’t have the same feel to it 😮💨
The Bears were lucky to get the game-winning field goal because during the last drive, Caleb Williams ran for three yards and then the Bears had to use their last timeout. Caleb should have been coached up to throw the ball out of bounds and save the timeout. It seems both of these teams need new coaches!
The entire game was either a lack of talent or a lack of effort. Green Bay made Caleb Williams look like Patrick Mahomes. After watching that, maybe next year will be better.
As a packer fan. U got Lefleur spot on. Great coach from X and O standpoint and a guy the players like and buy into. But his clock management is one of the worst in the league.
I think there is one scenario you failed to acknowledge here. Which is odd because I believe it's what the coach said was his reason for taking the timeout in the post-game. He said they were originally going to go for the 1st down to get closer before trying the kick. If that was the plan taking the timeout initially made sense. Only after taking the timeout the kicking team said they could make it so they decided to do that. Obviously still a screw up and lack of planning. Why did you only realize you were in kicking range after you took the timeout? I'd imagine that's a conversation you'd have well before then.
Packers fan here 1. Congrats to Bears, Green Bay played sloppy and they capitalized like any NFL team should. 2. A play that may not get as much attention is the 3rd and 11 before this (13 seconds left). Green Bay called timeout with a typical defensive setup and then came out in a Hail Mary setup with 4-5 corners 20-25 yards down the field???? DJ Moore had an easy one on one and the Bears learned from Detroit and spiked it in time.
I don't know how he thought taking that timeout so soon would help him. I was wondering how the Bears pulled this upset and I see how. LaFleur needs to manage his timeouts better than that.
The worst decision of the GB game was the way Jeff Hafley called the defense on the Bear's final offensive play. They literally left the entire middle of the field open for a 20 yard slant. The moment they came back out in that, I said out loud before the play that there is going to be a wide open huge slant, why are we not just staying in cover 3 or something? You didn't even need to make Caleb Williams think, which is his worst trait right now. Any idiot could see the middle is open for a slant. The TO is not the biggest issue of the Packers.
The Packers were the 7th seed even with a win against the Bears. I had both games playing at the same time. The Commanders scored a TD for the lead the same time the packers lost their game. Even with a Packer win they were playing Philadelphia. The Commanders won the 6th seed if they won. The Packer game could not change it. Still a bad loss with injuries.
You would think anyone hired for a HEAD COACHING JOB IN THE NFL would be a mastermind of all aspects of the game. It's unbelievable how many times we see incredibly stupid decisions in key moments. Even a casual fan could do better.
You're wrong, 55 seconds is a lifetime and they start @ the 30 yard line. Also, All they need is a field goal. More than enough time and Caleb did it anyway. What are you taking about
Watched these final minutes/about 30minutes for 3min of game clock. My first reaction was why the time out by GB asap after failed 3rd down? Make or miss CHI would get the ball back either way with may be 18seconds left and GB were still locked in playoffs.
Another thing, y'all got lucky with the blocked field goal otherwise you guys would be 0-2 against a rookie quarter back the Packers always have been nothing but hype.
Did you get an answer of why the Bears changed their mind on the last TD PAT? They initially went for a two-point conversion, missed, but with a Packer penalty, it was moved closer. They then decided to kick the PAT.
Was watching live as a bears fan. They spent the timeout debating whether to go for it. I think he intended to go for it and chickened out / was talked into kicking. Even then why call a timeout that early when the bears might be forced to?
This guy doesn't even know what the hell he's talking about.. The Bears didn't call their final timeout until they got the ball back and ran a few offensive plays. You CLEARLY see they still have one timeout after stopping the Packers on 3rd and 2. It's not even a mistake you just blatantly lied to make your silly complaints seem valid when it's not. This video was a dumb decision, coming from a Bears fan. You're welcome! Smh get off the Internet and get back to reality.
I can’t call this a dumb decision, how was anyone supposed to know the Bears had final figured out clock management in their final game? As it is I think the NFL should investigate if there were some imposters playing that final drive.
One video I would've expected more is how horrible LaFleur managed Christian Watson, starting with the Saints game. His decision to keep him out there in a blowout and late into the 4th quarter caused him to be injured. Yes it could be hindsight but this is a guy who has had legs injuries since entering the league. Scratch that, LaFleur is just as bad as Tomlin is at challenges (even though he did win one last night and probably should've won one other).
the only reason could be, "somebody", wanted the bears to have a chance to win it! Maybe the NFL calls who wins and said, ahead of time, it was time the bears win. or was paid off and went with it seeing how we didn't need the win.
At least they didn't do what the Rams did, making the incredibly foolish decision of starting Jimmy G in a game that matters. Now instead of the Commies, they have to play the Vikings.
Incorrect information. Packers had no shot at the 6 seed since Washington won. Also, Lafleur HAS had a losing record, in 2022. Big fan of the channel, but let's get our info right.
As soon as I saw the Packers call timeout, I said "Welcome to Dumb Decisions." I woke up to the fulfillment of my prediction.
Same here! And the call was heard from other end of the bar!! Welcome to common conversational reference! You have arrived.
That last timeout was idiotic, a late Christmas gift from Green Bay, it gave Chicago just the breather they needed to win. I’m glad for Chicago…….
I thought it was Chicago doing the time out. Big ooops on that one
I believe the announcers also thought the Bears called the time out too.

They got Cocky because they didn't expect the Bears would be able get into Field goal range in 54 seconds.
I’m so pissed off at this coach.
And it will NEVER change.
Sure he has a lot of victories (thanks to Rodgers) but he NEVER learns any lessons.
Yep and this coach will cost the Pack in the playoffs AGAIN.
Well I guess Matt LaFleur doesn’t care about his perfect record against the Bears anymore.
4:08 He did have a losing record once. He went 8-9 in 2022.
4:07 WRONG!!! In 2022 the Packers went 8-9, so yes, LaFleur DID in fact have a losing record.
The entire game was either a lack of talent or a lack of effort. Green Bay made Caleb Williams look like Patrick Mahomes. After watching that, maybe next year will be better.
Two timeouts straight out of the Bears playbook. Thankyou though, we need all the help we can get 👍
As a packer fan.
I knew it was a dumb decisions video immediately n requested this video
I was enraged about the clock management here
With the history between these two not surprising
Packers fan here
I can only assume they thought if they gave up enough yards, the bears wouldn't have time to run up and spike the ball. Which is still dumb.
Last play sealed it . Two terrible decisions lead to the loss.
2:41 for the catchphrase. Still, Matt Lafleur making a DD never ceases to amaze me.
Going to the playoffs with a loss to a last place team is not the way to do it.
You make valid points, but still, FTP!
You would think anyone hired for a HEAD COACHING JOB IN THE NFL would be a mastermind of all aspects of the game. It's unbelievable how many times we see incredibly stupid decisions in key moments. Even a casual fan could do better.
This one was a no brainer.
You're wrong, 55 seconds is a lifetime
and they start @ the 30 yard line. Also, All they need is a field goal.
More than enough time and Caleb did
it anyway.
LaFluer is not overrated. He went 3-0 with Malik Willis this year and has continued to make the playoffs after Rodgers was traded. Stop it.
Doesn't matter. The buccaneers are just as dangerous as the Eagles. In different ways but just as dangerous. We will see what happens next week.
The Bears deserved this. We’ve beaten them so many times in similar situations.
The packers and steelers are easily the worst team going into the playoffs this year.
I’m sorry, I like LaFluer, but I think we’ve seen all the success we’re going to get from him.
You don’t need to call timeout that early even if you go for it. You know you’re going for a game-winning field goal eventually. Complete lunacy.
The Packers should have been SWEPT BY THE BEARS this season. It' was a blocked field goal that got the Packers that win at Soldier Field.
It was a non-contact injury. Watson is made of glass.
the only reason could be, "somebody", wanted the bears to have a chance to win it! Maybe the NFL calls who wins and said, ahead of time, it was time the bears win. or was paid off and went with it seeing how we didn't need the win.
Of course Packers called a timeout to give the Bears a chance to win. It's for the betting sites.
Rodgers = 1 Super Bowl win.
Farve = 1 Super Bowl win.
Jim McMahon = 1 Super Bowl win
Thank you
Packers-Eagles in the playoffs ... let's just put LaFleur and Sirianni into a paper bag and see which one can coach his way out of it.
How did they choke in a game 75% was played by their 3rd stringers and didn't matter they were the 7 seed win or lose?
All this being said,if the Packers want to fire LaFleur. I, as a Bears fan, would endorce his hire.
At least they didn't do what the Rams did, making the incredibly foolish decision of starting Jimmy G in a game that matters. Now instead of the Commies, they have to play the Vikings.
Good on LeFleur for owning it.
That was too much time even if Cairo Santos is your kicker...
Incorrect information. Packers had no shot at the 6 seed since Washington won. Also, Lafleur HAS had a losing record, in 2022. Big fan of the channel, but let's get our info right.
The Packers left should've known after making their field goal Chicago could answer their score and for Caleb Williams this was his chance to win
