It is unfair to expect SONKO to play more executive roles or serve as a defacto president, some greedy politicians would have abandon him in jail to enable them have "political freedom", but FAYE didn't just released him but also gave him the highest available political office.

Perhaps the best decision to the mundane is interminable service to the colonial masters with wishful thoughts of their goodwill.
