Having had a few mercs of this vintage I would suggest its either Sun Roof Drains or bulk head cowl drains that are blocked and letting water inside the car as apposed to drining it away from the car :(

@@furiousdriving I was into CB Radio back in the day and had an old antenna whip which i poked down the drains as you need something long thin that will flex to clear them out ;) Thats if your lucky I was biggest issue with these cars is the metal sunroof cassette often rots ot on the pipes in the corners so it could be leaking out before it has a chance to exit the drain pipes :(
Or the drain pipes might of become detatched or be holed?
not sure on 123 models i had 201 and 124's but should be similar? If you take off the A pillar trim and the plastic overhead windscreen trim that holds the sunvisors and interior light you should be able to get to the back of the sunroof drains. The bulhead drains if they are backed up standing water will overflow into you heaving vents and tubes and find its way in there :( Good Luck hope you find where its coming in?
Tip for you whenile you know its leaking get the carpets out, these old merks have huge foam pads built into the footwell carpets and it will soak up the water like a sponge and then happily eat the floors :(
Get them out and let the car dry out ;)

Yes drop the headlining etc anyway to dry it out properly.

Front and rear screen rubbers will be needing removal and re sealing, the door cards are off and I see no door membranes, membranes are the thin plastic sheets, with no door membranes you might as well leave the windows open, i know this from working on and restoring 123's and other old Merc's,
As you say a deployment of a heater will dry it out but without the membranes and screens re sealed you will be fighting a losing battle, car cover is probably your best bet for the time being,
You need the correct sealer for the screens, I use 3M 08509 mastic as it never fully dry's out unlike other Mastics, also the boot rubber is a prime leak point,
    Good luck

A good test to do if you’ve not already tried this is to disconnect all the feed pipes from the injectors and place them all into a jar or something to catch the fuel, then bridge the fuel pump out so it is constantly running, then press down the fuel distributer air flow plate thing down and observe for fuel coming out the lines, should be a decent flow out of all of them with the plate fully down.
If this is fine remove the injectors and attach them to the pipes, place them again into a jar and repeat the test, observing for a healthy amount of fuel being squirted from the injectors. If there is now no fuel the “threshold” pressure on the injectors is not being reached for them to open and squirt fuel.
It sounds like this “threshold” pressure isn’t being reached to me, I’d do these tests and then also measure the fuel pressure at the fuel distributer, making sure that the correct pressure is reached and also that it stays there with the pump switched off.
There will be a fuel pressure regulator near to the fuel distributer on the fuel return line, will have 2 fuel pipes on it and also a vacuum pipe. I think this is your problem, it must just be allowing fuel past without any restriction.
I have a 1994 Audi Coupe 16v with Bosch KE-Jet, it sat for 13 years before I got it and had plenty of teething issues with the fuel system, once sorted it’s a really good reliable system.

I wonder how old the fuel is in the Mercedes? I wpuld suggest that first, thrn poss low fuel pressure especially if the pump is really buzzy. Try an assistant to slightly push the flow plate down as you crank. If it is set up wrong fuel will not be reaching the injectors. Hope things look up for you my friend, you looked really dejected at the end.

There is an adjustment for the internal plunger in the fuel distributor in the middle of the fuel distributor. ....adjust it in(clockwise) 1 turn to richen the mixture. also you have to confirm if anything is squirting out of the injectors. If the plunger is activated in the distributor(via the air flap) fuel should make it through if the overall pressure is sufficient.

I noted a couple of drips from the oil filter flange but it looked like coolant. There are a couple of pipes there which could be for a water cooler? Anyway that might be the source of your territory marking and why your coolant level drops. www.amazon.co.uk/Torch-Detection-Cooling-Antifreeze-System/dp/B00TU8VCB4
MB will run for a second or two on easy start even if the injectors aren't working. Injectors into jars and see if they are working. Or, loosen the injector feeds enough for them to leak, might also need bleeding.

I have not seen all of the videos so some things you may have already done. Not in any real order.
Thoroughly check the ignition electrics. Including any relays.
    Check the timing.
Use a spanner to tighten the battery connections. This ensures you have full power for the car.
Ensure that the ignition system is not damp.
Check if fuel is actually getting to the injectors and that the injectors are working correctly. This means knowing how to check the relay(s).
Maybe reach out to Mercedessource in the USA. th-cam.com/users/Mercedessource.
You are not the only one to have spilt oil when changing it, this week.
Lastly return that new camera as it is giving an image as if there is still a plastic lens protector on it.

Honestly, with the car leaking like that, I think you'd be best off removing the interior...Seats, carpet, headlining. Can't you build some sort of makeshift lean-to off the side of the garage to protect the Benz, and cars that you're not driving daily. Something inbetween the garage and fence (by the Rover in the video) Dunno if there's the room or if the wife would approve. Suspect getting the wife to approve would be easier said than done. Ideally you need to find where the water's coming in from. Do you know who makes the Alfa filters? You could then probably get a OEM one from the actual brand. That's what I've done with the VW, admittedly its not as delicate. Could Stevensons Mercedes in New Hythe (that's what Google calls it) around Leybourne shed any light on the W123? There's a few pictures of them working on older Mercedes' and they've got good reviews. Not dealt with them first hand, however.

But....but...to my eyes, at least (and in the first half of the video), the focal plane of your new NICK-on (really? Ah, yet another difference: we say NYE-kon. And the Japanese apparently say NEE-kon. So there we are.) is on the items back against the wall behind you and on the wall itself. Instead of on you. Oh, wait! At 16:15 it's not focused anywhere! Muuuuch better! :-)

Found the problem - you have to set eye detection in video AND stills mode, a good feature as you can have it set up as 2 different cameras, as long as you know its there!
And yes, when I watch American videos with Nye-Cons (Jared Poplin Im talking to you!) I want to shout at the screen too!

@@furiousdriving In our defense, when Nikon ran TV commercials here in the U.S. they said they were "NY-kon". Much the same way that Toyota themselves (here, that is) called their car -- in their own commercials -- the "SELL-ih-kuh" and not "Suh-LEE-kuh."

As the owner of a w124 convertible i cant leave it for 5 mins without its getting damp, but yours is fucked, every part of it looks like scrap, id leave the heater in until the thing catches fire, you are doing the car a favour, good luck

Why don't you take the Merc to a German car specialist who knows these Bosch mechanical fuel injection systems? it's obvious you're out of your depth with the Merc's non starting. A specialist would get it running in no time.

Throw the Alfa away and build up the Merc. He's worth it. The Alfa not.
