Just want to thank Mr Furious Driving for all his time and effort making this fantastic video, my Uncle Malcolm would have loved watching this as much as i have!

BMW R90S was one of the landmark bikes of the 1970s. Expensive and special, built from 1973 to 76, often called 'the bike which saved BMW Motorrad', as the top brass in Munich were considering shutting down the motorcycle side of the business in the early '70s. Bob Lutz in the USA persuaded them to launch this model, styled by Hans Muth, and it worked. BMW motorcycles became glamourous. I have a 1974 model, originally owned by Patrick Lichfield, 5th Earl of Lichfield, society and royal photographer. That garage find needs saving!
What a terrific find, well done Paul for getting in touch with Matt and allowing us all to share in the joy of your late Uncle’s MG Maestro. Splendid video, really heart warming.
What an fantastic car and in such a lovely condition! A set of fresh keys 🔑 a wash 🧼 and service on the engine and it’s good for the road! Thanks Matt for taking us ! 👍🏻👍🏻 🆙 like allways!
I always enjoy "barn find" videos, particularly finding out the back stories behind why they were parked up for so long and getting some insight into the former owner's life. I must say both the Maestro and motorbike were obviously well looked after and it was good they were stored in a garage that was in good shape. If Paul doesn't hold onto them, I hope both the Maestro and the bike go to a good home and get back on the road again.
NCT2s are some of the best tyres that I bought 30 years ago. I put them on several cars until I discovered Yokohama tyres. Those MGs went like trains in a straight line (I tried a Montego), but the PAS was overdone with no feel. The chassis on the ordinary Maestro was actually a nice car to drive (without PAS). I had a MG Metro with all of that velour and steering wheel. Little known fact, the stalks on the MGs of that era were illuminated by fibre optics, so that you could see the controls at night. That disappeared just after the K-series Metro came out and I've never seen it on another car, which is a shame, esp if you are new to a car.
I loved my MG Maestro’s - I had a black 1600 (Weber down draft carbs) and a white 2.0 EFi. That car is such a wonderful survivor - I really hope the next owner preserves it. It’s fab.
Love it. Had an 88 MG Maestro 2.0i, was a brilliant car and way better than my mates Astra GTE. I would love another, but the logistics of getting this one to the States counts it out (plus no a/c). I hope you do the detailing video of it, I would love to see how it cleans up. Good luck with the sale.
Two amazing vehicles there, both with such a rich history. Stored for three decades they are both time capsules in beautiful condition. Great video Matt, I really enjoyed watching it❤.

Wow! Its a beauty. My dad first had a Gold B reg HLS. Then upgraded to a Targa Red D reg MG 2.0 EFi non alloys model with the plastic wheel covers. He was proud of his Maestros.
It's always worth checking the Air Cleaner Box...to ensure no Mice have built Nests in there....to avoid the nest bits getting sucked into the engine...they notoriously build nests in air cleaner boxes and air intake pipes.
OUTSTANDING.. incredibly fabulous how both metal and fabric have survived so well these past 30+ years.. Thanks for traveling to unveil this find with Paul..
Loved these cars, had the 1.6 carburetted version, my neighbour had the 2.0l EFI. Lovely to drive and fast enough to have fun. Even had the talking dashboard, which thankfully had a mute button.
People rubbished BL/Austin/Rover or what there name was at the time but they bought out some cutting edge technology like the dashing dash you mention, annoying but brilliant at the same time!
What a time capsule! Love these kind of videos with the history of the owner and the car. Beautiful car and bike. Hope the car get's a owner that appreciate and preserves it.

Hi,I had 3 mg maestro's back in the day,a white C plate,a red G plate with the painted Spoilers, and what was possibly the last registered it was a BRG( I think it was a 1990) but it stood for 3 years and was registered on a L plate-- L108 Euk ) they all are sadly no more.
The Isle of man Steam packet ferry used to pump out the tank of your bike in a horrible shed on Liverpool dockside, the same happened on the way back , we were often hunting for an open garage at 2 am in Liverpool running on fumes after being pumped out.
Loved this, thanks guys. Had an early C reg one in Moonraker Blue, brilliant underrated hot hatch and with power steering to reduce lock from 4 to 3 turns it was reputed by the motoring press to be just about the best hot hatch - hard to believe of a Maestro, but true. Took mine down to Italy on holiday, had it sat at 130 mph (on the overreading speedo) for hours on the autobahn - exactly matching a Mk1 & Mk2 Golf GTI, who probably wondered what the hell is was.
My late father had an MG Montego 2.0 EFI in the early to mid 90s. It was a G plate. Those alloys do look identical to those we had. It felt like a huge step up from the previous Vauxhall Chevette Estate 1.3L. Unfortunately coming home one evening he was dazzled by an oncoming car with full beams on and crashed into a parked car which saw it get an insurance write off.

Great video. I’ve always thought how cool it must be to find old cars like this in such great condition. Stories like this are always heartwarming. I suspect it will appear on an auction website against a white background with a huge price tag, sadly.

Classic car auctions in Warwick (CV35 0AA) have one for sale, a G reg, 9000MILES, up for 15k. Its the older version and just doesn't look right on a G number plate. Thanks for the tips. I do wonder about the fuel lines with modern fuel though?
I asked him, they asked where the MG was and asked if it would run (who knows when a car has stood for 30 years) then ignored my replies. Would have been a good video for him after the Astra GTE find. His loss. Mr Furious Driving turned out to be the correct man for the job.
The MG is nice, but that BMW is the real star of the show this time - a very significant motorcycle. I think that Paul is right to hang on to it rather than the MG. I must admit that I wouldn’t have tried to fire up the MG up without at least misting the cylinders and feeding it fresh fuel from an alternate source. (I don’t doubt that the fuel in the MG looks very much like the fuel in the BMW.)
I was bit shocked you didn't take all the plugs out and drop a bit oil in the bows before turning it over considering it hasn't been starter also using the petrol in the tank that would probably be not great 🤷♂️

Dragging a stiff bristle yard brush across a sandy bonnet, what were you thinking 😣 It's been tucked away safely for all those years too 😂 Saying that though, what a car ❤👍
Obviously it's not going to fetch ford money, still worth a 4 or 5 figure sum though. A 2 litre was rebuilt on the Bangers and Cash channel; cost a small fortune to rebuild and sold [Mathewsons] for around mid twenties I think?
Hi Craig, is your Turbo for sale? would go well with my MG 🤣 Joking aside, i can't believe how hard it is to find parts, i really can't. Its just a MG Maestro, loads about in my day. Hard to find stuff like a water pump so might try and rebuild it, can't find a exhaust back box for love nor money. I know stainless is a option but want to keep it standard. It came with Michelin tyres from new, struggling to find new Michelins to put on it that aren't Cross Climates as they don't look period for it. Hope the injectors work ok as they're a small fortune. I can't start looking for a fuel pump until i know what it is.
You could sell it to the Haynes Motor Museum in Somerset if such a thing can be done or to Mathewsons (B&C) or to a real enthusiast who would take care of it. My Mum and Dad had a silver e-reg Maestro and a white g-reg maestro.
Never a fan in the day of the Maestro however now what lovely example. I had GY Eagle NCT2's on a SAAB 9000CS and despite the brand name they were crappy compared to P6000's!
IOM ‘’tank pump out’’ sticker….The Steam Packet Company always sucked out all the fuel of all the bikes before they boarded the Ferry to minimise fuel leakage in the event of a rough crossing and it was tough luck, if you had just filled up on the mainland because you’re never compensated for it they then tied all the bikes down everyone of them. in case they fell over on the rough crossing on route to the TT races on the Isle of Man
Just want to thank Mr Furious Driving for all his time and effort making this fantastic video, my Uncle Malcolm would have loved watching this as much as i have!

Hi is the mg maestro for sale ? It would go well with my turbo
Brilliant vid love an Mg Maestro!!
Never a fan in the day of the Maestro however now what lovely example. I had GY Eagle NCT2's on a SAAB 9000CS and despite the brand name they were crappy compared to P6000's!
Had the same MG for 5 days and some scroat knicked it and wrecked it.
Should have purchased one of my Uncles kruck locks 😅 yeah theft was rife back in the early 90s
Need to do more barn finds 😊
Shame you couldn't take it on to revive it, without selling something on, but as you say, cannot keep them all.....Cheers Lads
I think it'll be worth quite a bit so Id have to sell a few to fund it
Looks like a perfect car for the furious fleet. Come on, Matt, make some room in your barn for it.
Think in the day when you got the ferry to the i.o.m. you had to have the tank pumped out, hence the sticker
IOM ‘’tank pump out’’ sticker….The Steam Packet Company always sucked out all the fuel of all the bikes before they boarded the Ferry to minimise fuel leakage in the event of a rough crossing and it was tough luck, if you had just filled up on the mainland because you’re never compensated for it they then tied all the bikes down everyone of them. in case they fell over on the rough crossing on route to the TT races on the Isle of Man
And they then sold the fuel back to you when you got on to the IOM with the petrol station they owned lol. Thanks for the Tank pump out info!
Excellent video Matt 👏👏👏
Thanks! 👍
I'm sure you can find space in the barn for the MG Maestro. Would make a great project.
Agree Matt should definitely buy it, would make a great series seeing it getting back on the road.
Agreed matt should get it
61p a litre for 4 star 😲 Those were the days.
Lovely car! I’d love it!
