    No Android Auto considering that this is a Chinese vehicle so we have to rely instead on QD Link. 3rd row could be too tight for tall people but for smaller ones it could be alright. Cargo space with all seats up is not as spacious as an Everest and it reminds me of our '10 Avanza. Fortunately 3rd row is foldable.
    Amazing as always, sir Eric. Hope other carmakers will follow suit, but with better options for PHEV PPVs. For people who aren't still ready yet for full electric power, PHEVs are starting points when you want the best of both worlds (convenient fuel economy and value for charging in electric mode).

    By the way, that basic model is no longer imported, that one is an early test vehicle. The new ones are called the "e+" and have better software with Android Auto etc, and have cooled seats and all the features of the 2.OL gas variant. They cost about 2.6 million PHP, I saw one today and it's very nice. I actually drove that test vehicle that's featured in the review. It was surprisingly good to drive. I'm a bit confused by your impressions that it feels too nimble to drive, like a five seat crossover. In my opinion, that's a great thing for a big car to feel like that, rather than a lumbering bus of thing. You want your big cars to feel nimble and sure footed on the road, and this certainly does that. I got out of the 1.6 Tiggo 8 and straight into that PHEV and was extremely impressed at how smooth it was, how quiet and how well it handled. I don't get your comments about the engine noise either. We had to basically force the engine to come on since the battery was still at 90%, and you could barely hear the gas motor, it was so quiet. I recently drove a 3.4 million peso Subaru Evoltis and the Chery PHEV handled and drove better and was quieter. Even the CVT was pretty good, and I don't like CVTs at all. This was on par with the Honda and Subaru offerings. I wish it had actual leather seats, rather than the faux leather, but aside from that and a few fit an finish issues on the interior (it's clear this has been abused by the press and people test driving it over the past two years), it's a surprisingly good car, all things considered. I used to work for Ford in R&D many years ago, and I'm actually shocked at how good this car is. I think they are approaching Korean and Japanese levels of quality now. Not convinced they will hold up after a lot of years of heavy use, but with a seven year warranty, I think they should be given a chance. I'd consider owning one for four or five years.

      Only you, an expert in the auto industry, can clearly know that Chery Automobile Company is very good. In the Chinese market, many users who buy Chery vehicles are engineers in the mechanical and electrical industries. If you have a chance, I hope you can drive Chery's high-end brand car: exeed.

      1.6 pro shakes at idle. Otherwise its good

      @@reymoneytalks974 I have the 1.6t pro and no it doesn't shakes at idle. Maybe the unit you test drove were badly abuse, I've seen many on youtube full rev new engines that are in their breaking-in period. The 1.6t pro engine breaking-in period is a bit longer than the usual break-in 1000km of other cars at 3000km written in the manual.

    At 2.7m this isn't that far off from outlander's 3m.

    I am planning to buy one. However, is confused about longevity compared to japanese brands. Can anyone provide any idea?

      Chery Tiggo 8 pro has a 7 years warranty bumper to bumper cover, 3 years free PMS and 3 years free road side assistance. Which is class leading after sales service. Clearly Chery is confident in their cars to give 7 years warranty which is more than any japanese brands on the market.

    2 electric motors 1 in the front and 1 in the rear. When this Chery goes into EV mode, am I right to say that the motors will drive all 4 wheels making it a 4 wheel drive ride? 🤔

      @rolandfunk7032 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      even in hybrid mode it is AWD, gas engine + e-motor front, e-motor rear.

      Is it true?

    • @rolandfunk7042
      @rolandfunk7042 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rizalix9 - of course. Hybrid PHEV available here in Phils (Chery Tiggo8, Mitsubishi Outlander, BYD Tang-DM) are always working like this: electric motor is running as standard, and gasoline motor adds power at high demand (driving uphill, fast acceleration, low battery). For the Tiggo8-PHEV all 3 motors when running together (= parallel hybrid mode) churn out 320+ hp good for fast acceleration and overtaking.

    • @rizalix9
      @rizalix9 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rolandfunk7042 ohh i see. But is it really fuel efficient? I see brazilian video show this car only get 14,7km/l (6,7L/100km) and it's his best result.
      And some phils video said it can get 23km/l or 4,35L/100km. But it claim that 1,7L/100km. So where's the truth?
      Even in EV mode it can't get 90km range from 100% battery

    • @rolandfunk7042
      @rolandfunk7042 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rizalix9 - consumption depends where and how you drive. When the battery is fully charged after plug-in into household outlet and you drive only a short distance for testing, the gasoline consumption is low because most energy is taken from the battery which is not counted for the gasoline liters. So, the most unrealistic official NEDC or WLTP tests (test logic was heavily influenced from the car producer auto lobby) using the battery to the max, often sending a specially prepared car to the test-lab, where for PHEV for example the battery is utilized from 100% to zero (special lab-setting), which is not happening in regular sold cars. So the lab-test ends up with a nice looking but unrealistic never achievable 1.7l/km. When some Pinoy TH-camr starts with a fully charged battery and is cruising along with moderate speed, he might achieve a 23l/km consumption, whereas some Brazilian tester might use a highspeed freeway for his driving and comes up with a higher consumption number.
