    I am an electrical engineer, ground IS connected to the earth, it is not the return line to the electric company. Neutral is the return line. If you connect to the ground you will be connected electrically to the earth, if your home’s wiring is properly installed. Ground will only carry current if something is wrong, like a fault somewhere.

    • @ZacksLab
      @ZacksLab ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @@daveWoodywhat exactly is meant by a “dirty circuit”? Can you give an example of a device that would have current leaking to ground under normal operation? Currents return on neutral and, if phases are balanced, there is actually no current on neutral (in reality there will usually be some due to L1 and L2 not being perfectly balanced).
      Furthermore, I’d like to know why this is even considered bad for the use case here, which is certainly still up for debate if grounding the body has any positive health effects.
      So much fxckery going on in this series of Paul’s videos with zero input from competent engineers.

    I've seen the video and I must clarify that Ryan Blaser's interpretation is incorrect. Hearing electromagnetic interference when using a grounding mat doesn't imply it's harmful. In reality, when the human body is grounded to a properly wired house grounding system, it actually offers protection. This is because grounding reduces the alternating current (AC) voltage induced by electromagnetic fields (EMF) on the body. It's important to note that all the academic research demonstrating clear clinical benefits of grounding is conducted using indoor grounding mats connected to wires. However, it's worth mentioning that grounding directly to the earth using an outdoor stake is likely the optimal method.

    I’m pretty sure it’s electrical code in both Europe and The US to ground (earth ground) all electrical boxes. In the US the neutral lug is connected to earth ground and the transformer to the power company. Also I’ve tested body voltage w/a meter and whether it’s earth ground (literally standing outside) or house ground/neutral - it’s identical voltage drop. Also same w/conductivity and ohms readings. Same diff.

  • @steve1711
    @steve1711 ปีที่แล้ว +63

    In the UK all the earth connections in the outlets are connected to a large metal pole buried in the ground outside the house. This usually is covered with a metal plate saying "Earth". This is completely separate from the two other connections (live and neutral) and is at zero volts. So it makes absolutely no difference plugging in a grounding map to the outlet or running a separate line to the ground outside.

      Yeah, I don't know what his handheld device was, but my understanding of electricity (more than most) makes me think this is nonsense. A properly grounded outlet is a direct connection to the earth. Yes there may be other appliances sharing that circuit and potentially dumping some extra electrons into the ground as well, but it's a one way street.
      Anecdotally I sleep better on a grounding mat plugged into a grounded outlet.

    • @steve1711
      @steve1711 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In Holland if you have type F plugs you will see two metal contacts above and below the main pins. These are the Earth connectors so that the two pin plug (having the live and neutral) will connect to the Earth. Unfortunately some old houses do not have an earth wire and use the old type C plugs. People have been electrocuted in the Netherlands when a fault develops and their is no Earth. The function of the Earth is so that if a fault develops a current will flow to Earth, tripping a circuit breaker or fuse and cutting off the power

You ground yourself nearly every time you touch something. If there is an imbalance, you receive a static shock. You can measure yourself with a multi meter to test voltage going through body, while grounding with a grounding mat inside. It is completely safe, provided everything is set up correctly in tthe house sockets and room...You can get a socket tester cheap for this. There is no AC voltage charge coming through the outlet. So this guy is wrong about that... Also, he is correct about ambient voltage charge in the house, and its best to turn off power, or at least turn off the wall outlet. grounding helps with this... EMF is a whole other thing.

    Using a multimeter, I measured my electrical exposure while sitting on my bed. The reading was initially around 650. After unplugging a window air conditioner next to my bed that was plugged into the outlet behind the head of my bed, but not turned on - The reading dropped to around 325, half of what it was.
    Then I unplugged a 6-foot household extension cord that was not in use ( same outlet) and the measurement dropped to around 125.
    At least that part of what he is saying is correct.
    How much electrical field is around us that we don't know about is unsettling to say the least. Think about strolling thru a shopping mall or a hospital, even a grocery store, or working 8 hours a day in one of those places.

Shared with so many people btw! I too had the grounding mats after listening to Clint Ober and watching his documentary about 4yrs ago- I stopped using them after I learned what Ryan has explained here in this video. I'll continue to shut my wi-fi off at night, stay barefooted outside until the snow falls, get plenty of sunshine, stand-up paddle the ocean everyday I can and all the things that moves me towards a more ancestral way of living. Yep, call me "hippie dippie" baby!! But you naive sheep would rather "enslave" yourself to being "barefoot" on the ground long enough every day (by the way, the surface of the earth must be MOIST in order to sufficiently ground), and you will impoverish yourself by grounding while you sleep...Really" smart"...

    Thank you!! This is a very important video for education purposes. It helps me understand why my mattress grounding pad feels like it doesn’t work. It did work at first for a short time. It “may” be working and, the counter effect of the dirty energy is likely offsetting or maybe even fully negating the pad effects.
    I particularly appreciate the distinction between earthing and grounding. This helps me understand why I feel WAY better earthing than using grounding products-at least the way I am currently using them. I realize being out in nature is good for many reasons. The concepts of grounding (or earthing) and their health benefits involve a mix of scientific research, anecdotal evidence, and ongoing debate within the scientific community. Here's a breakdown of the scientific perspective on these practices:
    Earthing or Grounding
    Scientific Basis: The idea behind earthing is that direct physical contact with the earth's surface can help neutralize positive charges (free radicals) in the body through the transfer of electrons from the ground into the body. The earth's surface has a negative charge and is constantly generating electrons that can neutralize free radicals, potentially reducing inflammation, stress, and improve sleep.
    Research: There are studies that support some health benefits of earthing, including improvements in inflammation, pain reduction, improved sleep, and better blood flow. These studies suggest that earthing may have a positive impact on the body's inflammatory response and overall well-being.
    Criticism and Limitations: Critics argue that many of the studies on earthing are small, lack rigorous experimental controls, or may have conflicts of interest due to funding sources. There is a call for more comprehensive, high-quality research to conclusively determine the benefits and mechanisms of action.
    Electrical Grounding Systems and Health
    Dirty Electricity: The concept of "dirty electricity" refers to fluctuations and surges of electrical power that can create electromagnetic fields (EMFs) potentially harmful to human health. While some research suggests that high levels of EMF exposure may be linked to health issues like cancer, neurological diseases, and sleep disturbances, the evidence is not conclusive, and more research is needed.
    Building Wiring and Health Risks: Concerns about the impact of home electrical systems on health primarily focus on exposure to EMFs. The scientific consensus on the health risks posed by household EMF exposure is mixed, with some studies indicating potential risks and others finding no significant health impacts.
    Conclusion
    The practice of earthing or grounding is based on principles that have some scientific backing, particularly regarding the potential for electron transfer to reduce inflammation and improve health. However, the scientific community has not reached a consensus, and more research is needed to fully understand the benefits and mechanisms.
    As for the concerns about "dirty electricity" and the health impacts of grounding through electrical systems, there is awareness of potential EMF exposure risks, but again, conclusive evidence is lacking, and research continues to evolve.
    In summary, while there is some scientific support for the benefits of earthing, and concerns about EMF exposure are taken seriously by some researchers, the full scientific validation of these practices requires further high-quality research.

    • @jimstevenson424
      @jimstevenson424 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I feel their is a benefit (personal anecdote), and I have seen studies and heard theories. Forgetting the health issue, I have never heard an RF expert on the following (I have been blasting this in TH-cam comments, because I can't get a complete answer). You would think a small industry that claims to sell healing products would get someone who really knows electrical/EMF theory to back them: There is often a debate when using ground rods and mats (not the dirty house ground issue), that your body acts like an 'RF ground', absorbing more RF than normal and shunting it to earth. I don't believe this, because at the frequencies of concern (wifi, cellular), anything conductive reacts like an antenna. Your body is already responding to the RF (oscillating the body's electrons), so why would connecting to a few feet of wire make things worse? Electrons seek ground, EM waves don't. If a practice can't hurt, people should experiment, but is the risk really neutral?

    Incorrect, the grounding of your home's electrical and GFIC outlets if they are indeed grounded to the ground wire along with the neutral (usually white) wire, is/are grounded by a ground rod at the "mains or circuit breaker box." Additionally, power poles which deliver to you home are grounded as well. One should confirm that "each" outlet is grounded properly with a wiring tester. Any discrepancies should be mitigated/rectified by a licensed electrician. Additionally, all electric light (on/off) switches should be grounded to the home's electrical system

    Grounding (or earthing) through an electrical outlet is not safe because it can expose you to the risks associated with AC current and electrical faults. The outlet's ground is connected to the home's electrical system and is not designed for personal grounding.
    On the other hand, grounding through a dedicated grounding rod, which is properly installed and connected to the earth, is generally safer. This method involves driving a metal rod into the ground and connecting it to a grounding system that does not involve the electrical wiring of your home. This avoids the risks of electrical shock associated with using an outlet and can provide the grounding benefits without the dangers of AC current.

    Here in Australia the part of the electrical system is called the earth. Also, this is very "tinfoil hat" as you put it. The earthing or grounding system of the electrical installation is at the exact same potential as the ground you stand on. It is not a current carrying part of the circuit, unless there's a fault in the system, at which point the current will flow through the ground you touch in that area anyway. There is no science to this, just a bunch of nonsense from someone who doesn't understand simple electrical principles trying to promote a product.

    Ryan exposes his lack of understanding of electricity in the first minute when he says current "dumps to the ground". Electrons actually move FROM the Earth, not to it. He needs to study basic physics before parading around like an expert. The buzz being picked up by his detector is electrical noise from appliances in the house that are sharing the house wires. Grounding to an outlet is just as effective at discharging your body of electricity, but if you don't want to be exposed to any household electrical noise, then, sure, run a separate wire from your mat directly to the Earth

AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHY the electrical voltage in your body will ALWAYS drop significantly after you ground yourself through the outlet. How else would the "dirty electricity" supposedly flowing into the body of a person who is grounded using a socket manifest itself, IF NOT IN THE WAY that it would increase the electrical voltage in his body? 🙂

    I ground to the metal radiator pipe in my bedroom . My body voltage drops significantly as a result . Surely that's ok ?

    In Turkey in the summer when it's hot....the Turkish people do not use air con they often just sleep outside.
    I believe air con is bad for you tbh😮

    Awesome video. Everyone should watch this. Thanks a lot. Is earthing with whole body (laying on grass no shirt and no pants) better than just feet? Does larger surface of the body allow more flow of electrons?
    Logically yes, but can someone break this down?
    Thanks😊

    This is so wrong..... The copper ground doesnt go back to the power plant.... The rod youre throwing out is alread out there... Its the copper ground...

    I tested my outlets said they were good after about a week was getting negative symptoms from grounding..then I went a
    To a rod outside 1 night developed negative reactions will give it one more chance with breakers off..I have listened to emf experts say not to ground inside but if u do absolutely breaker has to be off in the room

      Try the Pureground rod from Laura Koniver, it filters out AC.

    So to the author of this video, you are right on some things but drastically wrong in others. I am a Electrical Engineer and my primary field is in the Oil and Gas sector; so I deal with stray current constantly. If you would like to actually be educated and understand how stray current works, please feel free to reach out. I believe you are correct on some issues but you are changing your life habits for something that is drastically wrong.

    Grounding is a zero potential. Excess voltage will be equipotential. Circuit that is grounded will be zero volts.

      yep, clearly this guy doesn't know what he's talking about... a socket tester and multi meter can be used to test the socket is grounded correctly in the house

      @@multitablez7825 But Ryan talked about "electrical noise"... But if even by grounding through the socket, the electrical voltage of my body drops RAPIDLY (and thus my body gets rid of electrosmog during grounding), then I probably don't have to deal with what Ryan says...

    2:29 lol I think it's funny that this is just now occurring to people, the first time I ever heard about grounding I was like, well. I'm not going to plug it into the electric socket. That's ridiculous. I'm going to run a wire out the window and hit it into the ground

    • @MarekKE-ei6ec

      It's just that the grounding rod to which the grounding pin in the socket is connected is properly wide and at least two meters long.... Do you think you can achieve such a grounding effect with the help of a 4mm thick and 30cm long "peg"?

    If you are so kind to answer the question below:)
    If its not possibleto turn off the power.
    How can I shield my head/body from the wires in the wall?
    Cheers

    What kind of dirty electricity are we talking about when after standing on the grounding mat (after plugging it into the outlet) the electric voltage of my body decreases from, for example, 0.3V to 0.05V? ... By the way, Clint Ober himself claims that there is no such thing as "dirty electricity" flowing into the grounding pad (and thus into the body when we touch it) connected to the outlet.....

      the guy is actually wrong. provided your house is wired correctly, you can test it. There is no issue grounding through a grounding socket in the house. Use a socket test + multi meter to test it.
