      Problem is that he still need money for terraforming his moon, but more problem is that Quark history and nature likely disallow him to live a peaceful life, he end up anger a lot of powerful being in Universe.

    The O'Briens relocating to Cardasia to help rebuild it is an interesting (if unlikely) twist considering all the trouble and BS Miles was put through by them over the years. I could see him feeling a bit more like how Kirk felt about the Klingons.

      The funny thing is the most annoying part for Miles was how Cardasian tech didn't mesh well with Federation tech and cause him to do constant modifications and repairs to DS9 so him going to Cardasia could help him understand it more and as an engineer he would love it

    I love the dude who runs the klingon restaurant. The scenes in DS9 where Dr Bashir and Ensign Melora go out and eat there have been replayed a multitude of times in my house. Gets me every time how he bites the strip of gold pressed latinum he has been handed by Bashir, before spitting it in his stash. Great performance

      I loved the whole normalization of Klingon food aspect of DS9. In TNG, it was seen as Riker having this huge accomplishment, being able to eat it, and by DS9, it's as common as Chinese food is, now.

    You know, Jake SIsko living out a similar life to the one he had in The Visitor is makes it even more bittersweet. On one hand, it means he WAS able to "reclaim" what his life was supposed to be, even after losing his father, but on the other, it means he gave that life up after seeing him again.

    I always loved Garak's last appearance on the show. It was pretty ominous and came off to me as kind of sinister.
    I always got the impression he wasn't making a peaceful Cardassia... I got the impression he was making a new and stronger Obsidian Order/Romulan Star Empire... Him just becoming generic good guy Cardassian really did not seem to fit where he left off. Nor even fit his character at all.
    I figured he would found a new Obsidian Order and rule Cardassia from the shadows. He would encourage Cardassia to present a "good" face, but behind the scenes, it was a different story. He would try to create a more benevolent Cardassia, but it would still very much be Cardassia, just a different, nicer shade of morally gray. One more designed to get along in this new status quo created by the Dominion war.
    Just recall Garak's debates with Bashir over Federation and Cardassian morals and literature. He wouldn't be making a Federation 2.0...

    • @eol6632
      @eol6632 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I get the feeling that Garak's is all about his homes best interest. Good or bad isn't so much if a concern, he knows his people have to change or fail. Pragmatism.
      No matter what he will shoot someone in there back and smirk if he needs to for the greater good. Or if he doesn't like someone's suit..

    • @kaitlyn__L
      @kaitlyn__L 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Andrew Robinson’s book presented a believable way for Garak to be a little more Good (of course, he’s the narrator, so he’s not necessarily reliable) - without spoiling it for you if you haven’t read it, there’s a ragtag attempt to get Democracy started again on Cardassia after centuries, and he basically says to Bashir all the things he’s said before about thinking it’s weak and contemplative… but then says their prior system got them obliterated by the Dominion, so maybe it can’t hurt to try. Of course that could easily be folded-in to your interpretation as part of the “public face” of the state.

      I disagree a bit, in ds9 theres a conversation between quark and garak about the federation's insidiousness, at first it seems repulsive(coorperating, working together, bleh!, there has to be something nefarious underneath it all!), but over time you drink more and more and come to like it more. I feel both garak and quark recognized what was happening, but ultimately both relenting to the federations ideology.

    Also they’ve made the first steps now for Ferrenginar’s potentially joining the Federation. Not sure how that would work in economics - it’s vague how much we’re told about utopian post-capitalism is Earth/humanity specific or the entire Federation. I think the idea of unaliving Alexander is due in large parts to the show runners having no idea what to do with the character.
    Oh what if Worf secretly had a son he did not know about and Suprise. Then his mother is assassinated. So Worf is stuck with the son. Intrigue and emotional episode.
    Then comedy sidekick thereafter?
    True DS9 was the real first Cannon continuity.
    The idea of threat of the week that walks all over the Federation flagship and is bested by the skin of the Federation teeth only to never be heard from again leaves many loose ends.
    On the other hand it leaves plenty for novels to cover.
    What ever happend to X?

    Papa say those who endure war and turn not away from it but embrace its losses and pains more than victories are often the very people who can do for others because they know the true cost of war better than the victors or losers. But idk me like dem ending but da dying one dat no goodie

    9:25 -- RE: Jake Sisko -- Consider this a nudge nudge wink wink; Jake's character is possible the one with the largest unexplored Mystery aspect of all the canon characters. Why? you ask... because it seems to me he's the only one who *does not* have a Mirror Universe counterpart. *Deep philosophical territory character,* confirmed.

    so garak and bashier not ending up together kinda makes sense if they tried to assassinate garak more than once, being close to him might be a bit dangerous.

    5:45 One does not sell ships in the Trek universe the way we sell weapons in the real world. Go back and review Trek history since TOS and you will find this prohibition in place. It may not make sense, but it is the case.

    Also in STO if you pay attention you come across a Cardassian woman who tells you that Cardassia has petitioned to join the Federation. I dig that and fully support it

    I don't believe in anything you said about Garak. He is a humble tailor, an ordinary man trying to live his life. This conspiracy against Garak must stop!
