      Plus, with the height of this building, it's a prime target for another 9/11 jet sticking right up like a "HIT ME FIRST!" sign

      KulinBan777 it's about prestige. You have to imagine that the people who live here are probably close to being billionaires. They probably have another ocean home and, to boot, a home overseas. This home is like the one (sigh) Trump has, and he, as bigoted he is, is extremely successful. He has said that his view in NYC is one of majesty- like "ok I'm above and feel in charge of the (what some people think is) center of the world"...it must be special

      Yep, where I live, u would get the same thing for about 2 million tops. Without that view tho so its like 2m for appartement and 18 for view. But all that is super impractical.... 4 bedrooms, all couches white so when u spill redwine, u fucked..... its just meant to look nice I guess...

      TheQuetzalcoatl76 well for one, any usable space anywhere in New York is easily 5x more expensive than anywhere else. The price also increases when you have a view like that which is basically one of a kind. Then the fact that it covers basically the entire floor. The price is pretty reasonable

      ***** Believe me people make that kind of money on average per month. It often in form of return on investment or bonuses ( the latter doesn't last very long).
      If you have $2 billion investible assets $20 million return is only 1%, which is very low even for an average person. Some saving accounts would give you more than that.

    Even if I was the richest person on earth, I'd still probably not buy that apartment. With 20 million you could build a complex with all the amenities you ever dreamed of , completely custom to your own tastes and still have enough left over to pay all the staff to maintain it for a couple of decades. Sure if you work in NYC it makes sense to buy an apartment there, but you can probably get a very nice one for a tenth of that price, and use the remaining 18 million to build the mansion of your dreams outside the city.

      Someone who buys a 20 million nyc apartment has a lot more then 20 million dollars to waste. Just because you are too poor to understand how amazing this apartment is, doesn't mean you can come onto youtube comments and make moot points like, oh you can buy x with 20 million dollars, when whoever buys this apartment, can and does already have a huge mansion in the mountains next to a lake.
      Keep thinking small, thats why you stay pleb

    • @BC33714
      @BC33714 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guitarman Sam Just because someone gets a 20 mil house, doesn't mean they necessarily have more than that waste. It doesn't work like that. Often the people don't buy the house in one payment, or else they drain a lot if their funds. I would explain more about the home buying process, but you don't seem to be able to comprehend all that stuff works.

      That's true! Anyone living that high up better be prepared to have an escape plan ready in case of fire or like what happened on 9/11. Have a flash light, mask for oxygen , a fire extinguisher, and a long rope that climbers use to get yourself down the building, if you're stuck and can't go down the stairs, and need to break a window.

      Wrong. (I live and have owned property in NYC) When you buy a place in NYC, you will continue to pay taxes even after it's paid off. Taxes on a place worth millions is usually higher than what most people pay in rent. Not to mention in a building like that, you also have to pay for maintenance and tip the building staff at least $1000 every Christmas/holiday season. Only exception is brand new construction which are exempt for a year depending on neighborhoods.

    • @Brownie8986

      Croo ookie exactly. Owning a home in certain states that have a H.O.A. have fees so absolutely you have to be able to afford the condo maintenance fees plus taxes. the ticket price is the price but alongside that ownership is the price of upkeep and amenities you chose to invest in by buying into that building.

    • @jim7771
      @jim7771 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The elevators they use will do 40 floors in a matter of seconds, and of course you can get property cheaper elsewhere, a £50,000 apartment in Warsaw is £500,000 in Inner London, the reason for the high prices in NY is demand, I could buy a house for £5000 in Romania, because there's less demand and lower wages.
