Today (Wednesday, September 4, 2024) marks exactly 30 years since this race was held! Happy 30th Anniversary to this race!! I'm watching this right now while drinking actual Mountain Dew soda!! Also, the day this race was held at Darlington on my late father's 36th Birthday. I'm sorry to say that he passed away at age 61 in April 2020 free pancreatic cancer, which he battled for 6 years. He would’ve been 66 today. Happy Heavenly Birthday Dad!
man I am glad that Nascar still races at this racetrack but it would be cool if they reconfigured the track back to this configuration because this configuration was just better.
Any ideas on the name of the song used during the second half of the intro? No idea why but I love all of the bumper music ( going into commercial breaks) that ESPN used in the 1990s. No network will ever be able to compare to the broadcasts put together by ESPN in the 90’s. It Was Perfection.
I recall hearing this one on the radio. I never got to see it live. This was Bill Elliott's last win for Junior Johnson and really the last time they were any good and thereafter started a long dry spell for Bill as he wouldn't capture another win until 2001 at Homestead Miami/
Dam ticket price increases. Lower the prices again and the fans will come back. Then use the increased exposure to garner a huge TV deal to pay the purses

The ESPN speed world theme from this time period was the best. Just simple, clean, and set the stage nicely.

I don't know anything about NASCAR and am curious about this. Why did they change it? What are the differences?
Thanks!
Jeff Gordon getting B. Bodine is classic.

When they wouldnt put genuine draft on the 2 matchbox or whatever car
A back injury for Bob Jenkins was what launched the careers of Marty Reid and Bill Weber. Let that sink in for a moment...
brought out the b team for this race.
Thanks for putting this up
This was Junior Johnson last win as a Car Owner!
RIP JUNIOR
Junior Johnson's last win as a car owner.
2:08:41 - lol and it's a shame that NASCAR doesn't allow this anymore.
What? They still allow this lol. The smaller teams buy the scuffs and unused new tires from the big teams
Never been first. Cool. Awesome race too!!
