    Time to get started on building the units for the camper interior. Having been a joiner for 15 years this is an area I know really well! I am breaking this down into several episode and will try to explain the complete process I am using to build my interior. Granted not everyone has access to the machinery I do but I thought it may interest some of you.

    Nice to see another Ex Shopfitter building a camper.I had 33 years in the game before moving over to building campers.

    Dan, let alone the work on the van and the car and let’s not forget the garage too!!! You are amazing! Thanks so much for posting and I love the detail! We are planning to import a T5 to Canada. My goal is to find one with a Pop Top already and build into a van we can travel in! I feel a lot more comfortable about a T5 than the older T4’s, that may not be fair to the T4 I just don’t have any experience with a T4. If we can get one already built, I will go that route as I know it will be a project forever if I don’t get. a head start!

    • @DanChambersDAC
      @DanChambersDAC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much Grant, I really appreciate it! I find it crazy that they were never sold in Canada & USA. They are a little more refined than the T4 for sure. I would say find a van, buy the parts for it in the country you find it and have the parts shipped with the van. You can build it yourself and know the van inside and out.

    Well said Dan what a great idea to incorporate a sponsor like that into a channel like this. What a great journey and look forward to seeing the mega interior. Having used CAD in my own job as a interior designer this is a great project. Have you thought about custom VW van installs for your own clients?- very talented!

    • @DanChambersDAC

      Thank you bud, Felt like a very fitting integration for the channel. Can't beat a bit of CAD! I struggle to make things without it as it gives you all of the answers in front of you! I have considered it but don't think it would be financially viable.

    Awesome work Dan and great to see the units coming together. I’m lucky enough to work a Cnc every day 😃. Woodmachinist to trade and 17yrs in shopfitting. Now working for my local council and still on a Cnc machining stuff daily and building a Crafter. Love my job. Really want a garage like yours in my back garden 😂

    That method of getting the design drawn up in CAD, with the increments and lines, is exactly the way I approach that type of job. I still operate in 2d but have dabbled in 3d but it needs a change in workflow that needs time investing into it, as I just seem to be always too busy! Great to see the kitchen coming to fruition after being teased in previous videos. 👍👍

      I do really enjoy a CNC machine. I like the precision of them. Building by hand is definitely a craft though that cannot be knocked. The way to go forward is 3d scanning and CNC machining. Curious as to why you cut up into separate boards instead of just laminating the 8x4 sheets up and running them on cnc? Would of had the same if not less wasteage doing it in a full sheet? And less runtime doing it in the full sheet possibly? Excited to see the outcome from fitting the premade ones in vans and being a joiner myself always nice to see a bit of woodwork

    • @DanChambersDAC
      @DanChambersDAC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I cut them up as it uses a lot less materials than if I was to just bond full sheets and use a small part of it with the rest being wasted. The boards were all bonded in different configurations and thickness. This is the most effective way of using the least materials. Cheers, They are in and looking mega!

    Dan, a quick question for you. We want to use our T5 for travelling a week or two at a time and when not with my wife to go riding dirt bikes. Would the T5 be pretty comfortable with pulling a utility trailer and a KTM 300? I am thinking it would be fine thought I would reach out.

    • @DanChambersDAC
      @DanChambersDAC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Grant, Yes it would be more than capable. I have towed a twin axle trailer with cars on in this and it was absolutely fine. The bonus is the vans are big enough inside as a camper but not too big to park.
