Dan, excellent work with the wiring. One thing you could look to do would be swap the two separate switches for a DPDT (double pole, double throw) this will work exactly the same as your current setup but with only one switch to operate
Dan the van looks amazing. You should counter sink a big magnet to the wood slat instead of making a clip to hold it up. Also seen a kit that might help you for load leveling when camping. It was for a range rover but I am sure the company will make a kit to suit your van if asked. It means you can park on the side of everest and still have a level bed.
Pretty sure you can carry people in the back as long as they sit sideways for some weird reason. Obviously it’s not safe in a crash like but sure it’s legal
Hope you have a good holiday Dan as you certainly deserve one, the camper looks mint buddy a very professional build and everything you need is there plus the design is perfect, you wouldn't be able to buy an "off the shelf" camper this good👏🙏👍
Great use of the dimmer switch for the lights, think i'll use that idea for the next upgrade package! (They're never finished right?) I also thought about the 2 position switch for the head unit, but noticed that my solar set-up also charged the engine battery through the split charge relay (can hear it clicking over when parked and engine off) so didn't bother in the end.
Nice 1 Dan, learned a lot there good stuff enjoy Devon 🥵 hope you got some fans for the back to sleep! Home Bargains doing them clip on rechargeable well pleased with our 2.
This is an art attack…. Wow dude that’s some sweet work you have done to the van and really have thought all the small details. Was down Woolacombe the week as was staying over at Croyde bay so make sure you treat yourself to a big chief waffle.
Hope the low rider weekend was a good one for you mate, a good friend of mine was there with his (Jamie Foley) with his kids. Anyway enjoyed this one I want the big boy done now 😂
Great work dan, you have really inspired me to get my own transporter, do you have a more detailed electrical drawing please as it not my strong point, keep up the good 🤙🏼
Hi mate, great idea on the dimmer switch. My van has too many light and is really harsh when you first turn them on. This is a simple solution. Do you have a link to the dimmer you used as I've had a look and can't find a similar one on amazon.
The gas bottle should be accessible without entering the vehicle, hence why a lot of conversion companies located them at the back, just inside the rear doors.
@@HiruS22 no need to be offensive, check out BS EN 1949, penetration of type approved bodywork is not required to provide external access on a T5 by locating inside the rear door.
Van looks awesome. I'm just starting my own conversion company and I'm looking at selling the brand more. Do you mind telling me what fulfillment service you're using?
Gas cylinders must be stored in a sealed compartment from the living space. Maximum of 2 cylinders with a capacity of 16kgs each. The compartment must have a 50mm upstand at low level, so the door must not go to the floor
I took my gas cert for vans caravans boats and statics the regs are stupid utter mine field. Runs out next year won’t get renewed. Amazing build well done
Safety is always best obviously, but there’s currently no legal requirement for a gas certificate on a self build van in the UK unless you’re renting it out.
Wind deflectors are awesome, you need to try a different make, really useful to be able to crack the windows for ventilation when you’re parked up and it’s raining. Yes they may make you look like a 90s taxi but function over form every time.
Go and check out the new collection and grab some holiday clothes!

Lovely looking awesome and know we need more content on the project car please lots of love from south Africa Johannesburg 🇿🇦
May I suggest doing an acrylic plaque for the light switch/dimmer, you can even laser engrave it!
Looks fantastic the final works! Enjoy it mate!
Can’t beat a camping weekend in Wooly, enjoy! 🤘🏼
That Darren is from my village. He always has some sick modified VW at his garage 👌🏻
Like the hand brake solution, I always have this problem and didn't realise there was something for it👍

Also, have you thought of using the mechanics from a futton or a sofabed?

The majority of vans I have ever seen have them exactly where mine 🤷🏼♂️
Yes there’s no legal requirement to be accessible from outside the vehicle in a van conversion, that’s just nonsense.

Cool episode. Will there be videos from the vacation and the use of the van? As usual, greetings from Ukraine 🟡🔵
Dont know why you got 2 switches todo radio … i do loads with a single switch & a single feed to leisure battery
🤷🏼♂️ works doesn’t it?

Thanks for the info, I know what it needs to be. This 100% meets all regs. It's not just a metal box I found.
