Not gonna lie, glofish are really cool looking (and expensive) and I believe that they should be in the hobby because they are really unique and have almost no negative attributes affecting their health (if any) despite being unnatural. However, them being unnatural could be something that causes people to be a little hesitant about glofish and whether or not they are a good idea
theyre less harmful than hybrids so i dont see a problem when hybrid fish like flowerhorns are glorified. not going to lie. i kind of want one too. they're very unique fish that has a whole disco on its head.
I love GloFish! I worked at both VA's in Palo Alto (Stanford) as well as SF (UCSF). This was intended for human application all along. Today, we call it MVP, Million Veteran Program. That catalogs DNA and maps each specimen while monitoring the health of the patient. Ultimately this is for Genomic Therapy. Not only curing disease at a genomic level, but also having he power to regrow limbs and organs.
A very generous gift Chris. I'd need to do more research since they're pretty rare here in the UK but general thoughts are if they live a breed as their non glo counterparts there probably isn't much harm and as you say if they get interest in the hobby then great!
I don’t know if they have the glow fish bettas where you live but if you do could you maybe save them , anytime I have ever seen them they are always sick and dying in the store and they give them no attention !! Please 🙏🏻
I'm not a fan of GloFish. It's irrational because I know they aren't hurt, and GMO doesn't really bother me. I can't explain my dislike. That being said, this turned out pretty neat.
Awesome tank. I have a glofish tank too and I was worried I overstocked the tank with decor but after this video, I'm a bit more calm about ky decor. And I'm surprised you were able to add this many fish at a time. I added five and this caused an ammonia spike which eventually killed everything. But glad it worked for you
@@wonder777warrior6 Got this from Google "Getting GloFish into an exhibit here in California is nontrivial because they are illegal. That's right: they are legal in the other 49 states but illegal here."
I think it's fine. I am actually thinking about setting one up for myself. However all want is the fish. I want to do a heavily planted tank. Nice aquascape. I simply want very colorful fish. Started watching you because I watch MD & I saw the tank he did for you. Awesome job on your glofish tank. Gina Hetlage
Ya they are cool but don't live very long had mines for less then a year we had weeky water channges ect and still did not live sucks because he was very beautiful had red along his body and green eyes he looked like a zombie rip Toxin.Have vids of him on my youtube if anyone is curious he was so beautiful.(Opps thought you were talking about glow betta) xD
I just absolutely hate glofish. Something being genetically modified from it perfectly adapted form is just kind sickening for me. Also I hate the way that you can never make a tank with glofish in it look good.
@@Sam-fh1hl There's a difference between hating transgenic organisms and species selectively bred and domesticated over time for different aspects. Don't know if you know but glofish have a jelly fish gene transplanted into their genome which is why they look artificial in color.
@@Cole-ty9dz but that gene doesn't do the fish any harm but also you didn't specify that and what's the difference between changing genes and adding genes
@@Sam-fh1hl It doesn't but we fish keepers do get fish for different reasons, predominantly aesthetics and habitat compatibility to name a couple. Adding genes is when you add an entirely new gene not found naturally within a species' genome like the glofish. The gene that placed in them is not naturally found in their genome. "Changing genes" is selectively breeding individuals to better express desirable traits like long finned varieties of betta fish and different colored guppies. These genes are found in some part or way of the fish but are selectively bred over time to better express desirable traits that the breeders or customers look for.
I love it I have a Glofish shark 2 of them and they are in a live plant tank with black gravel with color with a boat they are doing good I looked them up so I no what they need Glofish sharks are rainbow sharks so going by there care love them so far think I have them maybe 2 weeks now

I wouldn't mind having some but banned here in California.
i dont think so. ive seen glo's everywhere in my town commercial pet stores and LFS.

Artificial fish in a natural looking tank make my stomach gurgle.
So you hate dogs, cats, gold fish, some pet lizards some pet snakes

I think they should be able to sell glofish it’s just they should Not advertise for small tanks
First🎉
At this point we need to keep any animal's alive we can its getting bad bro but they need to stop and start to chang there store
Hi, I love the Contin keep it up
Most fish are already far to pretty to need to glow.
i dont understand the betta glows. theres so many kinds why would they need to. honestly the original bettas are way prettier imo.
It's called black light, not blue light. Or UV light. The set and the fish looks cool.
I like the gol fish tank
they should sell them honestly
Glow fish never be allowed
Genetically altered. There is no discomfort
All those big pet stores, pet smart , petco, put mom and pop pet shops out of business and they shouldn't be selling animals.
What mom and pop shop you been to that sells pets? Lmao
Dang this aquarium rusts
