So when doing a water change. The night before add color booster and water conditioning and It will be ok to add that 30 to 50% of water, without having to wait an entire week ? And also if I have to change the old filter with a new one would you suggest wetting the new filter with the dirty water or just popping the filter right in ? Thank you so much in advance !
Great video! Thanks so much! If I get a 5 gallon tank, how much glowfish can I have? Can I mix the 3 varieties of glowfish? Do I have to buy a more powerful filter than the one it comes with? How often you buy new filter pads? How do I measure water parameters and is there like a kit for it? Sorry, I'm just so curious.
Umm I’d probably not put any glofish in a 5 gallon. Because they’re a schooling fish. The smallest I would go is probably a 10gallon to be honest with you. Also there are now long finned and short finned tetra, tiger barb, the danios, and the catfish that they’re calling sharks. I probably wouldn’t mix any of those together. The filter that comes with the glofish kit is the whisper. It is a good filter but doesn’t really get the water moving. I opted to keep the whisper filter and just add less water so when the water is filtering it has a longer drop into the fish tank. Seems to work fine. Only thing that could be annoying is if you don’t like to hear the water. I don’t purchase filters from the store I do diy filters to be more cost efficient. But most will change their filters every 1-2 months. You can check your water parameters purchasing the kit from the store which would be about $15-30 depending on the brand you get. Check your local fish stores sometimes they will check it for free. And also check your local big box pet store like PetSmart or petco sometimes they will check for you as well for free just take in a water sample. I think I answered everything for you. Enjoy your week and get that tank going!

+Yatos. anxiety to be honest I wouldn’t recommend adding a betta into a community tank unless you’re trying to do a sorority tank which is all female battas. I was kind of forced to add my betta into this tank because my lights blew out on my betta tank. If you were wanting to do a community tank though I’d first recommend having a 15-20 gallon minimum size just so everyone has space. In order to introduce them I actually still had the cup that the betta comes in and first I acclimated the water by dripping water from my glo tank into the betta water. I did a few drips every 10mins or so. And then I have a hang on separation cup and hung it in the tank so the betta could get to the same temp. After about 20mins of that I netted the betta into the glo tank. Only net fish into your tanks. Never pour water from another tank or location into your existing setup. It will throw off the balance.

+Kaitlyn Connolly hey Kaitlyn. no question is a dumb question. People tend to feed their fish differently. My personal preference is once per day. Only because I have so many tanks & busy schedule. But sometimes I will feed twice a day. Tetras are actually opportunistic fish. So feeding 2-3 times a day kind of mimics how they are in the wild. Just remember not to feed them more than what they can eat in a minute or two that will cut down from overfeeding your fish. I would definitely feed more fish more than once per week. Hope this helps you.
My glo fish tank is really cloudy after I added the beneficial bacteria and also has a foul odor. My fish seem to be hitting each other and I'm not sure if that is how goldfish are because I'm new to GloFish and fish tanks. However I do have the blue light bar for them. How can I help my tetras my GloFish tetras
We just started about a week ago upgraded to a 10 gallon tank last Wednesday notice the occasionally attack each other one is actually losing his tail because of it and that they live in their glow what should I do
Depends on the personality of the fish. I initially only put the betta in my glo tank because my betta light stopped working and so did the filter. You can try it out and see if their behavior is compatible. Just keep a close eye on the fish and see what happens
I currently have a 20 gal tank and 7 glofish in it. I’ve managed to maintain them to be healthy for 3 months but I’m concerned on how their ph should be. How do you get rid of cloudy water? I have done a 30 percent water change and have used water clarifier in my Glofish 5.5 gallon tank and the problem still persists over a month now?
ummm smaller tanks seem to have a harder time acclimating. Did you rinse the gravel in the tank before putting it in the tank? sometimes there is dust on your new gravel
I bought a christmas collection, 3 glosharks, 3 snails nd only did my tank days before hand. No clue to what I was doing. 4 died like wihtin hours plus a snail. Yup i suck
@@gatsbietheweirdo9403 3 is the bare minimum. However, you are right. You take the chance of 1 out of the 3 being a bully/agressor and fighting the other 2.
Are you stating you wanted to add fish to your existing stock? I would probably have a two tank setup. I would have another tank for when I purchase new fish so I can isolate the new fish for at least a week before adding to your current tank.
I'm not sure why you'd need or want a complete water change. Are you sure you need to do a complete water change? If you do just know that you will get rid of all of the beneficial bacteria that's built up in the tank. I suppose if you were going to I would put the tank water in a 5-10 gallon bucket along with a filter. Then empty your tank and let it cycle again before adding your fish back into the tank
+Yeet Oof technically most people will tell you no it can’t be done. Or shouldn’t be done. Betta don’t get lonely and don’t run in schools and they’re known to be fairly aggressive and fighting fish. In this case the glofish I have are peaceful and i have a small school so the glofish look out for one another and all of the fish keep to themselves. When I added my Betta into this community tank I kept constant watch over them to keep an eye on their behaviors as far as if any of them would be nippy or aggressive to the other and somehow it ended up working for me. I honestly think it’s be chance. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
I have 4 glowfish in my 10gallon tank right now I am planning on getting 2 more to make 6. If I were to get a beta to add to the tank would that be fine and should I get a male or female?
Female are more generally friendly just the males are the territorial ones. I think a female Betta should be fine but for a 10 gallon I would it get maximum of 5 fish. Glo fish tanks already come small of you want 6 to 12 fish I would recommend getting a 20 gallon tank at that point.
Flabbergastered Dude thanks for your response! And good for you for rescuing animals. My family has gotten two dogs from a shelter, and my husband and I adopted a puppy from a shelter about 18 months ago.

+Jasmine.V my first thought would be that they are stressed out. Which is fairly normal for fish going into a new environment. My secondary thoughts are going to be did you let the tank cycle before adding them? And also check your water temperature. If it is stress and they aren’t eating I would blackout the tank. Keep the light off for a day then try to feed again. Also what type of food are you feeding? Quality matters. Try the blackout method leave the lights off in the tank for 24hrs then try if it doesn’t work message me and I will attempt to help you further hope this helps.

Zeek's House thanks!! I’m getting it in 2 weeks. This helped so much :) and sorry to keep asking questions, but what is their lifespan?
Kaitlyn Connolly u prob have the fish but they’re estimated to live about 2 years depending on how well taken care of they are
My glo fish tank is really cloudy after I added the beneficial bacteria and also has a foul odor. My fish seem to be hitting each other and I'm not sure if that is how goldfish are because I'm new to GloFish and fish tanks. However I do have the blue light bar for them. How can I help my tetras my GloFish tetras
did it clear up?
We just started about a week ago upgraded to a 10 gallon tank last Wednesday notice the occasionally attack each other one is actually losing his tail because of it and that they live in their glow what should I do
I know I'm late but can I add a male betta fish to my tank of 5 glofish
Edit: also hes about 2 to 3 years old
Depends on the personality of the fish. I initially only put the betta in my glo tank because my betta light stopped working and so did the filter. You can try it out and see if their behavior is compatible. Just keep a close eye on the fish and see what happens
@@zeekshouse231 ok thanks!!
Does the water level go below the lip of the filter or above ok
I currently have a 20 gal tank and 7 glofish in it. I’ve managed to maintain them to be healthy for 3 months but I’m concerned on how their ph should be. I had bought a water tester kit and they’re all bright colors near the end of the Colt samples that are unsafe. How can I lower the chemicals to be safe
Can I use seachem conditioner for Glo fish.
is it hard to take care of glow fish
by far the easiest you can own
Thanks for sharing information. I'm thinking about getting glow fish
Can we add glo fish and gold fish together
No they require different temp water.
How often do we have to change the glo fish water . I read on Google 2 times a month, is that correct, thanx
please can you let me know how to slow down the current flow on the glofish 5 gallon aquarium ? i purchased aqaurium yesterday with two mollys and set it up but i noticed molly's dont swim around and are hiding all the way in the bottom since and water filter flow is two fast and loud and whenever i put a pinch of food it just goes to bottom of tank because water current is too fast and the mollys are not eating it ? so i know they are hungry ?? :( hope you can help ?
Hello! Great video! So how well does it work with the glo fish and the betta?
if your asking for a bloodbath then yes
@@aquaticturtle4688 I have had them together for a year now and they get along great. No bloodbath.
Same helped me out. Thanks
I have 1 pleco 1 beta and 4 glow tetras and I feed the same food as you for the glow fish and tropical fish
I can't get my glofish to swim to the top for food. and most of their food floats one of the packets of food some of it sinks but they don't like that food as much as the stuff that floats. I currently have five glofish in a 20 gallon tank and they wont go to the top, any advice would be great!
Hi,
What light did you use? Is that a UV , and may I know the watt it uses?
How do you get rid of cloudy water? I have done a 30 percent water change and have used water clarifier in my Glofish 5.5 gallon tank and the problem still persists over a month now?
ummm smaller tanks seem to have a harder time acclimating. Did you rinse the gravel in the tank before putting it in the tank? sometimes there is dust on your new gravel
I'm starting a glofish tank I waited two weeks to let the water run but my GloFish is still dying could you help me
dayum bro i got sum today
Did you acclimate them?
I bought a christmas collection, 3 glosharks, 3 snails nd only did my tank days before hand. No clue to what I was doing. 4 died like wihtin hours plus a snail. Yup i suck
@@vdubz31 cmon man😔 do your research when buying animals
Great Video! Thanks! I am getting my tank tomorrow
Can you pls make a video on the products that you use for your glofish? Like their food etc
Do you have to take out the fish when you do water change ?
No you do it with a tube
my neon green tetra is floating at the top but is still alive so how do i treat it?
Omg i think i over feed mine !! I have 2 and i feed them 3 times a day. They’re always hungry.
I have 3 and the same 3 times a day
@@rogertaylor4916 i now do 2 after i watched this video lol!!
I only feed 1 time a day and it's completely fine
@@gatsbietheweirdo9403 3 is the bare minimum. However, you are right. You take the chance of 1 out of the 3 being a bully/agressor and fighting the other 2.
Thank you I really appreciate your videos
Thanks for the tips auntie
You’re welcome butterfly P!!
Can glofish go well with gold fish
+Naive4Real TheDog NO!!! Different types of fish that need different types of water parameters
@@zeekshouse231 Thanks for the feed back! 😊😊😊 Keep doing whatchu doing!!😃😃😃
Am I doing something wrong what exactly do I need to do it I want to go buy some more this afternoon what do you suggest exactly do I do
What are you currently doing? I’ll help you tell if everything is OK.
Are you stating you wanted to add fish to your existing stock? I would probably have a two tank setup. I would have another tank for when I purchase new fish so I can isolate the new fish for at least a week before adding to your current tank.
Can we do a complete water change?
And if so what is the preferred way to take the fish out of the tank?
I'm not sure why you'd need or want a complete water change. Are you sure you need to do a complete water change? If you do just know that you will get rid of all of the beneficial bacteria that's built up in the tank. I suppose if you were going to I would put the tank water in a 5-10 gallon bucket along with a filter. Then empty your tank and let it cycle again before adding your fish back into the tank
You can put a betta with glofish?
@@zeekshouse231 Thanks for the info btw great video!
how many glofish tetras can I have in a 3 gallon and 5 gallon tank?
What food do you feed them? Please answer me :D I'm getting one soon very excited
Watch the video and pay attention. She says it literally like a minute in.
Bruh I already got 6 of them- why reply now? :p
"I'm getting one soon very excited"
I have 4 glowfish in my 10gallon tank right now I am planning on getting 2 more to make 6. If I were to get a beta to add to the tank would that be fine and should I get a male or female?
Female are more generally friendly just the males are the territorial ones. I think a female Betta should be fine but for a 10 gallon I would it get maximum of 5 fish. Glo fish tanks already come small of you want 6 to 12 fish I would recommend getting a 20 gallon tank at that point.
I want to get fish for my grandma. How hard is it to care for them?
Flabbergastered Dude thanks for your response! And good for you for rescuing animals. My family has gotten two dogs from a shelter, and my husband and I adopted a puppy from a shelter about 18 months ago.
Quick question does glowfish need a heater im making sure cause I'm trying to find a good fish that is cold water and I'm pretty interested in glowfish
it only needs a heater if the water is cold, they prefer 70 or 80
When changing the water , what water do use ? Tap water with conditioner? My aquarium tanks water is getting cloudy and i need to clean it.
I use tap water and add in the conditioner before adding it to the tank, along with the stress coat.
@@FluffballKitties do u wait the full 24 hours before adding it?
I try to get close to the water temp. I'm still new, but all the videos ive watched they leave it out a few hours to overnight to get room temp. I used a thermometer to check it.
is the betta is female?
I have another thing that will help! So if you got decor or gravel please rinse it,the stuff can carry chemicals…make sure to use bottled water
Should I leave the light on everyday
No
20 gallon tank one danio 2longfin GloFish and 2glo tetras
One of my longfin glofish is a bully
My danio stays at the bottom nd dosent eat much
I haven’t done a water change yet it’s been a month and the water not cloudy
My glofish is very active but my danio is lonely i guess🤷🏽♀️
Did you do the acclimation method for the fish when you got them
What brand of color booster you use?
Hi, I have a very small glofish aquarium, 1.5 g. Which glofish would you recommend and how many?
That 1.5 gallon is wayy to small and if you still get a Glo fish 1 would be perfect and if you can trade it for a 5 gallon
I got 2 glofish for my first fish but they died the next day so I got anouther one and it died the next day I dont know what I'm doing wrong
How did they die , and when
@@nicholascantos5197 I found them sitting at the bottom of the tank and I poked them with a stick to see if they were just sleeping so then I just let them go but they just floated to the top and I got the first 2 two weeks ago and I got the newest one 3 days ago
Was they die as soon as they entered the tank?
Did*
@@nicholascantos5197 no it was the next morning they were dead
Is UV light necessary for glowfish ?
I don't think it's necessary...but it makes the colours really pop
Can I turn off the pump and filter in the night or is that bad
Your fish will always need the circulation of water so no don’t turn off your pump at night
I just got a fish today and look like it’s dead but then it moves again but slowly stop moving but it’s weird
Is the water flowing in the tank?
How often do you clean the tank and redo the water
Change 10% of the tank if it is filled with 4 or less fish every week, and I do full water cleans every 6 months
I got some glofish yesterday and it looks like they are not eating.... do you Know why?
+Jasmine.V my first thought would be that they are stressed out. Which is fairly normal for fish going into a new environment. My secondary thoughts are going to be did you let the tank cycle before adding them? And also check your water temperature. If it is stress and they aren’t eating I would blackout the tank. Keep the light off for a day then try to feed again. Also what type of food are you feeding? Quality matters. Try the blackout method leave the lights off in the tank for 24hrs then try if it doesn’t work message me and I will attempt to help you further hope this helps.
Zeek's House i already did all that! And the thing is i don’t know why but even during the day (when the aquarium’s light is off) they stay at the bottom of the tank, and i feel like they go up a little when it starts to be dark outside (they are close to a window but not under it) and as soon i open the black light they go back at the bottom of the tank... i just want my fish to swim happily like yours!
I tried the 24h thing and it didnt work...
So yesterday they looked so much better but this morning 2 out of 4 have died it’s so weird i don’t understand...
+Jasmine.V have you checked the water parameters?
What happened when the power go out and you filter stop
They should be fine for a hour or 2
My tank is going almost black, the water in my tank is getting super green every 7 days after I change it. The water gets cloudy after 2-3 days after changing. What am I doing wrong? I have PH and water conditioner to assist with the water.,.
Sounds like a bacterial bloom, did you cycle your tank?
Did you cycle your tank? Also are you leaving your lights on all day? Most bacteria blooms occur when the light is just left on all day every day.
Hii! I have that hose tube thing, I want to ask is how often to you do water changes on yr 10gal, I have a 20gal high tank, after my water change in about a few days its already cloudy.
I water change once a week on all tanks
They have a liquid or drops to clear the cloudy water it's called clear something ask them
What if I work full time and I can’t turn on/off my LED lighting? I work from 4:50 am -3:30 pm

Beautiful tank.
Great info.
You can tell his fish are happy cause their swimming all over the tank
I am getting four glofish tetras do i have to let the tank cycle for a week or can i just let it cycle for 24 Hours? Please answer :)
Dominique cycle it for a month. Make sure there is a ammonia source like a piece of shrimp
