    I like the way you score the experiences in such categories, it would be awesome if you could compare between different rackets such as astrox 99 vs astrox 100 zz or astrox 88D/S vs 100ZZ/Z and some other popular rackets such as ZF2, Duora Z Strike etc
    Also how about a video about composing an ideal racket for ie a racket that has ZF2 smashing power, 88S control/handling, nanoray speed etc
    The ideal racket video would be about each characteristic of multiple rackets, that will be a challenge
    Nice video I like it

    • @tnghiem84
      @tnghiem84 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The problem with an "ideal racket" is that it does not exist. If a racket is ideal for me, it doesn't mean that it will be ideal for you. No matter how well a racket is designed, it can't escape the rules of physics, give the same current technologies. If you want the smashing power of the ZF2, you would have to sacrifice some speed and control, and vice versa for other rackets.

    • @the0neObserver
      @the0neObserver 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tnghiem84 agreed, but knowing the advantage of multiple racket might be useful for those who know their strength in certain skill
      If we can pull those advantages into one imaginary "ideal racket" while the point is to get as much info from multiple rackets might benefit those esp in high school
      Some of my varsity students like to smash a lot while others like to do trick shots or stroke play

      Hi Dave, thanks for the feedback and your comments @tnghiem84. An ideal racquet video would be an interesting one. Although, we probably haven't tested enough racquets formally at this stage to be able to provide a compelling answer! As far as comparing racquets, we don't have plans to at this stage but will definitely keep it in mind for future videos! My concern with comparing racquets is that all of them tend to have their own strengths and weaknesses that are designed for various types of players. The scoring system we use is to hopefully make things a bit more objective so that in the future (when we have tested many), you can get a good idea between racquets based on their rating discrepancies :)

    Aloha Henry and Jeff, great review of the Astrox 100 ZZ and Astrox 100 ZX. I appreciate you taking the time to put this together. Looking forward to trying them out. Your control and speed rating sells the Astrox 100 ZZ. Defense wins games.

    Very through and comprehensive review. Interesting that you find the ZX the siffer racket. The ZZ is the more expensive racket with the solid shaft and fully 'made in Japan' while the ZX has a hollow made in Japan shaft but apparently the frame is made in Taiwan and is also the cheaper and therefore by inference the lower spec racket.
    Would be interested to hear your views on how it compares to the Nanoflare 800 (I know that's a head light racket) and the Auraspeed 90/90K/98k and the X Drive 9x.
    thanks

      Thanks for the thoughtful comment db qu. Certainly odd that it felt different to how it had been described by Yonex. I'd suggest trying them both out and letting us know what you think :) NF800 vs Astrox ZZ is a very interesting comparison. Personally, I'd prefer the NF800 over the Astrox ZZ as I have a rather large swing and benefit from the momentum I can generate with the NF800. I can't really comment on the others unfortunately as I've never used them!

    Thanks for the review guys. I own the 100ZZ and ZX, the ZZ is by far the stiffest racket yonex ever made so I'm not quite sure how you guys find the ZX stiffer in its shaft. Also the 100ZZ is very head heavy. To be honest the moment I played with the 100ZZ I got elbow and shoulder injuries. And I never had this with any rackets in the 20 years I play badminton. This racket is unforgiving in speedy movements that require fast wristmovement.

      I've got a shoulder injury too although initially developed my injury using the Voltric LD Force, I don't know if it's shoulder impingement or partially torn something, but using the 100zz did not help my injury, just made it worse, I feel like you have to have really good technique and timing to not get injured by it and plus have a fast arm to unlock the full benefits

    I really really enjoy your racket videos! Very calm, informative but still entertaining.
    I think about buying one of these two, but deciding between the two is so hard, because reviews seem to be all over the place: I've seen many reviews say ZZ is stiffer and more unforgiving then ZX, however you said the exact opposite. Some people rate ZZ as soft, some rate it as stiff and then Yonex says it's extra stiff. Same with play style: Yonex and some other reviewers describes it as a power racket, you however describe it as an allround control racket. Racket reviews are always very subjective, but with these two it seems like people really can not decide. The only thing everyone can agree on is that both are great rackets :D

    • @Volantbadminton
      @Volantbadminton  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yeah it can definitely be conflicting. Sometimes we pick up a racket and don't look at the specs... then are surprised with the specs because they seem to be different to what we felt! At the end of the day, it's very much about personal preference and the best way is to try them yourself. Hopefully you know of some people who have both models so that you can try them yourself?

      Hi all,
      Thanks for the comments! To give you all a better understanding of how Jeff and I review racquets. We actually don't look at the technical aspects (what's on paper, i.e. extra-stiff etc.) of a racquet until after we have reviewed/commented on it as we want to remain as objective as possible in our reviews. Hence, our ratings and comments are based on what the racquet feels like, not what's on the Yonex website. There will be differing opinions here and we appreciate that.
      As far as: "Is 100zx is better than astrox 99 and voltric z force 2". Purely from an opinion standpoint, I prefer the Astrox 99 compared to the other two. But that is purely a preference based on the racquet types I like and how I play.

      @@Volantbadminton true. Let's get both the 99 and the zz rackets. This way we could get to try and compare both. We all need spare rackets anyway as strings usually only last a couple of weeks. • @Volantbadminton
      @Volantbadminton  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi There, no problems. Can you confirm something for me. Are you saying that you're an all-rounder? If you are an all-rounder, (both attacking and control) I would choose the ZZ instead of the ZX between these two racquets. If you're mostly an offensive player, than I would say the ZX but it depends on the type of racquet you like to play with as well. As far as string tension is concerned, it's hard to say whether 24-25lbs is suitable for you. String tension is more an art than a science, so you will need to test various different types and see what works best for you. Hope this helps and good luck!

    • @Volantbadminton
      @Volantbadminton  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Arlo, good question :) It's important to consider performance as a whole and the racquet is more of a tool than anything. There are a few elements to consider with your performance with a racquet, the key ones being: The racquet itself, the string tension, string type, stringing method (less so). I would consider this in isolation and say that 23lbs is on the lighter end for tension but string tension is more of an art than science. Both Jeff and I use different string tensions,strings, racquets and grip types! At a lower tension, the sweet spot is enlarged and helps players with consistency as a result but compromise power, crispness and control. The racquet itself will still move the same way as you're not changing anything fundamentally with it and the benefits of the racquet will be the same. However, your performance as a player will be a result of the mix of these different factors. Lots of moving parts here Arlo, hope that helps!

      Based on what I'm reading I would think that the 100ZZ 3U would be a better option for you but I haven't used that version yet and I also haven't used the TK-F 3UG5 so it's hard for me to provide anything objective. I'm mostly going based off my experience with the NF800 (3U). If the 3U NF800 isn't as powerful as you'd like, I probably wouldn't use a 4U 100ZZ.

    personally i find the astrox 100zx is a bit of a gimmick, for what it suppose to be. i find it more front court to mid court than the rear court. if you like the astrox 88s but want more speed. this racket could be for you. the astrox 100zz is nice and crisp in feel. the astrox 100 series is like a parallel world to the astrox 88 except siuted to possibly a different style of play. i would have to disagree on the zx being stiffer than te zz. i find the zx easier to use but also not very stable, i would probably prefer the 88s pro over the 100zx. not saying the 100zx is a terrible racket its just a bit of a disaapointment that its like 2 different rackets in the 'all-rounded' category. this is my opinions of it. the astrox 100zz is a much stiffer in my opinion but somehow yonex made it quite appliable. you would require quite some fast swing speeds or strength to make use of it. and again this is my thoughts on the rackets. im hearing many variants on the 100zx in both specs and balance. so i would say buy the 100zx with caution as many reviews are either against each other or agree.

    What do you guys think durability wise of the astrox 100ZZ? I like the potential for both singles and doubles but I fear the ultra thin design of the shaft especially since Victor Axelsen has already broken 2 of them. I definitely do not play as much as him (I play 2-3 times per week and id consider myself an intermediate player) but for how expensive it is I would hope this isnt a common problem.

      Hi Trevor, wish we could comment on the durability of the racket. After we test rackets, we return them so unfortunately don't really get a great gauge on how durable the racket is. • @Volantbadminton
      @Volantbadminton  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy, we've both had limited hitting experience with the 88D/S. I have played with the 88D (not the 88S and Jeff hasn't played with either), but this was sometime last year. Inclined towards the back court because you''re an offensive player that likes to smash a lot? If that's the case then the ZX is probably a more conventionally powerful racquet than the ZZ. However, based on my memory (if it serves me correctly), I would prefer to play at the back court with the 100ZZ (I'm too weak to get the most out of the 100ZX) and 88D. Not sure if that helps, but if we manage to get back on court again, we'll look to reviewing those racquets too as it's definitely been asked a lot!

      Isn't the rear and the back court the same? Are you referring to front and back? 100ZZ is pretty responsive and a solid racket. Can't really go wrong with it. Hi Chi Hu, are you talking about the ZZ or ZX? For defence, we preferred the ZZ when comparing the 100ZZ, 100ZX and 88D. The 88D feels very hard on contact with the shuttle but the ZZ feels like it has more 'whip' in the swing.
      But if you like a harder feeling, then the 88D might be better for you!

    • @Volantbadminton
      @Volantbadminton  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chihu4745 I'm probably quite biased because of the Yonex rackets we've tested the NF800 3U is my favourite. I think the 100ZZ 4U is definitely a good one to consider for the points your mentioning compared to the 88D 4U for sure. The NF800 would take a while to get used to at the back court because it's quite head light so you may be more comfortable with the 100ZZ 4U. That being said, a 3U version of the NF800 would feel overall heavier so it's a tough decision. I would suggest seeing if you have a friend/s with the rackets and testing first before you commit!
