The disable touch in preferences is a life saver. I was going mad wondering where all the extra marks were coming from. Haven’t finished watching yet, but thanks!!!
I just ordered an iPad for the very first time in my whole life. As I'm very much behind on the Ipad Procreate train, I'm using tons of tutorials and adding them to a playlist so I can always go back to find quick tips to help my art. Thanks for this amazing, quick, concise, yet incredibly informative/educational video ♡ Thank you!!!! Keep up the amazing work
I’ve been through three iPads. Now I just bought the 2022. There’s nothing like canvas. 🤷🏻 for me it’s a waste of money. However I had to get it for my job. I tattoo so it’s fast and you don’t need paper as much. But there’s nothing like canvas or water color paper. I got a 2000 paper weight lol. For the people that don’t have one…. You can NOT paint on the iPad. You make marks with the pen lol. I recommend start on canvas first. You paint with a brush not a pen. Just saying.
This has some of the subtler tips we all wish we had starting out and rarely found because it’s honestly difficult to develop a way to explain these, many people just “do” them naturally once they learn and can’t pass it on. You conveyed these very well!
Creating the 'multiply' layer for sketched drawings was so helpful. I have been tracing my drawings and it's a tedious process, plus I notice my drawings have a stiffer, less painter look when I do that. AND THE DISABLE TOUCH ACTIONS - A LIFESAVER. No more random knuckle streaks across my drawings - they were so annoying! Thanks for the tutorial!
I haven’t even finished watching this video and already there are so many things that I didn’t even know about that I know will be EXTREMELY helpful in my art journey. Thank you so much for making this video, I know it will not only help me but so many other struggling artists out there. Seriously, thank you. I usually don’t even comment on videos but I don’t think I’ve ever watched a more helpful “top tips” video in my life :))
I've had my iPad for maybe 3 months now and using Procreate just as long... After watching just 5 minutes, I feel like I'm a newbie again lol. Thank you for sharing!
could you do a tutorial on how to make your own brushes? the procreate brush studio offers a lot of options and quite frankly its intimidating, would love if you could do a video on that :)
I am receiving my first ever ipad in 2 days. All because of your videos. Cant wait to immerse myself in digital art for good. Thank you for your epic works and tutorials. Looking forward to your future videos as well.
Great tips! Thank you. I'd offer an addition to tip 18, and that is lock your sketch layer so you don't accidentally add color to it and only find out much later.
As someone who's been working with drawing tablets and paint tool SAI since they were about 10 years old - this is amazingly useful. Thank you so much! I just got an apple pencil for the first time and feel like a lost puppy with procreate haha.
Omg thank you so much for getting straight to the point. So many tutorials just drag out the beginning of the video and then there are barely any tips. Also this was so so helpful. Thank you so much.
James, Thank you. I find it hard to keep up with all the hidden and not-so-hidden tools in Procreate. Your "Tips" videos have been very helpful to me. I'm retired now, so I just use Procreate for personal enjoyment and it's nice to know how to solve some of these problems in simple ways. Also your work is always lovely to look at.
I just got my ipad for christmas so I’ve had it for a few months and I cannot believe I didn’t know about the double tap feature on the pencil!! Was so annoying !! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
This is so informative. I just recently switched from clip and ibis to procreate, so I'm still very new to this program. And the left handed thing!! That's so nice lol
I've been a Wacom loyal digital artist for a decade and just purchased my first iPad. This tutorial was incredibly helpful, I feel like I'll be able to switch over to the new tablet and software with much less headache now, thank you so much!
Great video! I'm brand new to both Procreate and the iPad and this helps a ton! One bit of feedback, timestamps would be massively helpful for referencing things in this video. I've come back to it a few times and being able to jump to each tip would've saved a lot of time.
Fabulous! I’m new (today!) to procreate and have watched a lot of videos that raced through the info. Thank you for this thorough moderately paced information. I was able to follow along without a lot of pause/rewind. Tips were quite helpful! I have subscribed and look forward to learning from you. Merry Christmas!
Ugh. I’m so glad I found this. I thought there was something wrong with my NEW iPad, when it kept switching in between paintbrush and eraser and drove me mad. Thank you! Fantastic, fast paced video.
like other audience replied, I can't believe this tutorial video is free. I can not draw/paint at all, but I just got my apple pencil one week ago for note taking, also trying to do some hand lettering on iPAD, I found ProCreate is really an amazing app. And your tutorial is the best I've seen, also the way you explain thing is easy to understand. The your speaking speed and ascent is easy to follow even for me as Asian. I would like to help you on the Chinese Subtitle translation if you want. I really think this video absolutely deserve much more audience! Thank you for your sharing!
Ha! I thought that my iPad was glitchy, it would seemingly randomly, toggle back and forth between the eraser and the brush. It was so irritating. Thank you so much for educating me.
Dear James, I’m from Sri Lanka and just started to create content in procreate. Believe me, your tips and tricks video is a life saver. Thank you so much ❤️
I was learning so much before the "advanced" section 😂😭 Also initially I thought this would be another basic tutorial. There were some points that I knew already sure but MAN you did a great job and I learned so much here. Thank you. I know I'm a year late haha!
Thanks for this! The info was so helpful. I'm a very new user and some of what I was doing was frustrating me - like lightening up on the touch to get thinner lines. My pressure smoothing graph was wonky! FIXED thanks to you! Glad I found you!
thank you. im forever a samsung fanboy and i just got my ipad pro 11 a couple of days ago. honestly iOs is so confusing for me and procreate is so minimal that it took me a lot of searches to understand how to use some of its function. this is by far the best tutorial/familiarization out there. 🙏🙏🙏
I am BRAND new to apple let alone procreate. Your video very simple and easy to follow, gave me lots of ideas on things to do since I have always done drawings on paper. So thank you!
THANK YOU THANK YOU! I got my iPad last year and tried to draw on this program but I didn’t have any knowledge of it, then I tried several tutorials and thought I didn’t like to draw on a tablet (this is my first time, I’ve only done it on paper) until right now after watching your video!!! Thank you!

Brilliant as ever James. My latest Ipad pro was driving me mad constantly switching to eraser and for the life of me I couldn't figure it out. Thanks!!

You just saved me. I didn't knew about the double touch on the pencil, but I had some trouble, not understanding why I switched to the eraser. Also didn't knew about the option to not draw with my hands, wich was messing stuff up (yeah, you just get back too much and your finger just puts a point so now you have to do again all you've done, yay !). I am so happy I found this! Thank you for these great tips - especially disabling the pencil tap feature and also the setting so only the pencil can create marks. It was driving me crazy how it kept switching to the eraser and I never knew why. Thanks!

The best thing is to read your reviewers comments.. Your content your reviewers are both awesome 👏
disable touch actions only works if you have a apple pencil.
Indeed! I bought a glove just for this but it is warm and unnatural. Wish I had seen this earlier!
just to add to the tip number 12, you can also drag an image to the palette section and it's going to make the palette itself :) great vid!
Indeed!
Omg THANK YOU!! This will be so helpful!
