Great video as always Paul, nice to see a channel that is tacking some preventative maintenance as opposed to reactive for a change!

You need to keep this car as it will gain in value I love this car in it present state and it will be even better after you have gone through it changing parts. This was a concept car that made it in full production.

Great video Paul, I think the MK2 is a far better car than the MK1 in driving experience & looks. My wife has enjoyed her MK2 now for 4yrs.

Can’t wait to see the restoration of the TT. Feel your pain of having to carry the jet wash around the car. The magic 8/10m hose makes life so much easier. The TT would look better after a Karcher Dry Ice Blast. Reach out to Karcher for a demonstrator to use on the channel. I’m thinking about getting a set off Quickjacklift’s as getting a post system looks like to much work on re-enforcing the concrete for the pads.

Great video Paul! I am just about to undertake an equally challenging restore (potentially) on a 180 roadster in Green. I have asked my subscribers if I should do it and its a 50/50 split. It is in pretty poor condition. Im looking forward to the journey but equally nervous and finding more gremlins than I can handle! Keep up the great work.

Great work Paul! I can recommend the Aluminum Coolant Pipe Flange Upgrade check ebay. The standard pipes fail for a passtime well worth doing while you are in there!!

That rotten bypass/ pump, is the secondary water pump, it works for 10 minutes after switching the engine off to keep the turbo cool

The charge pipe is meant to look like that, its not a hole bud, its how the ext bracket is welded on

  • @mediaeasieruk

also there is a power steering heatsink pipe underneath you can delete, its no real use unless you are into heavy track use

I am looking forward to following this project. Rather than chrome the various ally parts why not restore them to the original finish in keeping with the rest of the engine.

Audi have a recall on these engines (coil packs). I use to own S3 8L. Call the dealer they check the VIN. All free.

Another brilliant blog mate, and an excellent start. Yes, your right about certain cars, that you may have owned but sometimes it’s like having an itch that you just can’t scratch, I had that with the blue oval cars. 👍

The pump is the secondary water pump. Runs after the engine to turned off. Big area to check is the oil pick up in the sump. Usually get gummed up. The boost pipe running cross the front will not have a hole at the bracket. That is a little water way and they get corroded. I alway put a front mounted intercooler on and delete that pipe but you need to leave it in because it is structural. When you get to the roof drain pipes, I have an easy technique to replace them because they perish. Just DM me and I will tell you how to do it. 15 mins per side max.
