Попадали в шторм на Волге, лодка тяжёлая деревянная гулянка, длина примерно такая же. Мне лет 14 было. Я направляла под 90 градусов на волну, когда проходила волну и нос лодки опускался, сразу поворот влево (нам надо было дойти до деревни на другом берегу, шли против течения почти под 45 примерно градусов) а волна с правого борта. Когда подходила ещё волна, я так же поворачивал на встречу, и опять проходила. Так и дошли. Но пассажиры лежали на дне лодки и держались, кто за что мог. Это были гости с Молдовы. Впечатлений нахватали... 😊

Unless you’re a super strong swimmer you should be, not to mention if you hit your head off the boat and you black out you’re dead. Ive been surfing for almost 2 decades and I’m probably a better swimmer than 99% of the population. I almost never wear a life jacket but in this situation, wearing one would be a no brainer.

One time, when I was young and stupid, we went cliff diving in the canary islands.
The surf was choppy as hell, with a swell about 3 metres high, and despite being a very good swimmer (Mum competed in swimming leagues and taught us well) the swell just pulled me out to sea. The waves were dragging me out into the Atlantic ocean and I absolutely panicked.
The waves are ridiculously powerful.

I wish you would have provided more info. How did you get to shore? Did you accept it and swim with and parallel to land to make it back? This has always been at the forefront of my mind when around the ocean
I once swam out to help a friend who got caught in a rip. I was a competitive swimmer in my 20s, so I really thought nothing of it.
I was in the water for no more than 10 seconds, and I turned around and to my horror I was hundreds of metres away from the shore. Granted, I was swimming with the rip and all, but it was a shock to see how quickly it took me out. It was a truly terrifying experience.

When I was four years old I asked my dad why he wore a lifejacket in the boat if he knew how to swim. "Because you can't swim if you're unconscious" he replied. I fully understood instantly.

I am in boats so rarely that I'm rather take the 1 in a million chance of an accident happening AND I'm knocked unconcious AND I fall in the water AND I dont wake up.
