Rouge one is like a great Shakespearian tragedy, you dont see stories like these anymore so I was truly impressed when I first saw it.
Fantastic storyline as well. Especially how it flows with the rest of the trilogy
It put me to sleep. It's not Star Wars.
Do you mean ROGUE One? Rouge = Red.
@@SalvableRuin - He watched "Moulon Rouge" and was utterly confused as to how it tied into the Star Wars universe.
@@DontrelleRoosevelt You sad little man hahahah go grab your binky and have a nap!
This movie also explained why Vader was in such a bad mood at the beginning of a New Hope.
Leia: "We're on a diplomatic missiom to Alderaan-"
Vader: "I literally saw this ship leave Scariff an hour ago!"
actually weeks ago, I think
What was Lea supposed to have done when Vader demanded to know what she did with those transmissions? Tell him?
Do you really believe that she was expecting him to let her go with an apology?
She wasn't trying to trick him, she was trying to keep her composure in the face of one of the scariest men in the Empire, who could read minds, something she would have known. Claiming she was on a diplomatic mission was how she tried to keep the information he was after safe while the droids made their escape. Anyone as smart as you think yourself could have figured that out before watching Rogue One.
*If You enjoyed my reaction please leave a Like. That really helps out the channel*
As someone else said but said it wrong, when Leia gave the plans to the rebel leaders they said many brave people gave their lives to get the plans. It sucked that they all died but it could not be avoided.
I love the line "Do you want to know the probability that she uses it against you? It's high. Very high"
For me, this is one of the best SW films ever. The whole film is incredible, and the last 15 minutes a brutal rollercoaster (Vader OMG).
Facts
The ending hit hard. I didn’t expect them to die
The last 15 minutes made Darth Vader look like a cowardly, incapable pussy.
@@DevinGtv901The TV shows are Obi-Wan Kenobi,The Mandalorian,The Book of Boba Fett,Andor,Ahsoka and now The Acolyte.
@@DevinGtv901Man a shitload of good guys and girls died in this one but this movie leads up to the original Star Wars where Vader invaded the rebel ship and caught Leia but the woman playing Leia in this one was not Carrie Fisher who passed away years ago.
OH BABY IT'S TIME!!!
I was afraid you were going to skip this one but I'm so glad you watched it !!!
Hell Nah lol.. I heard this was the best
@@DevinGtv901 It is!!!
If you like this, you will LOVE Andor!
This entire story is absolutely tragic. Without those plans, Luke would have never been able to destroy the Death Star. The sacrifices everyone made, especially the Rebel fleet, are horrific.
I'm not gonna lie, it has brought me a lot of vicarious joy to watch you experience these movies and stories for the first time. Thank you for that. You never get that "first" watch back, and I cried like a baby in the theater when it came out.
Edit: I'd love a reaction to the "Andor" series. It follows Cassian Andor's story. He's the main character, and it is absolutely wonderful. That and Rogue One are darn near peak Star Wars for me.
I keep hearing about Andor. It must be really good
It IS!@@DevinGtv901
@@DevinGtv901 Its the best star wars show by far.
In the rebel attack to Scarif, the red five pilot unfortunately died. And the rebellion chose later a new red five pilot... Luke Skywalker as we saw in episode IV and the rest.
Rogue one, andor the show, and Star Wars the clone wars is my favorite Star Wars content
One of the best of the newer movies. This one is tough to watch but it is so well made. Thanks.
Thanks you watching and supporting
In the movie A New Hope they make reference to those who died trying to obtain the plans when they were explaining how they were going to attack the Death Star, but here we see how they died.
please re-upl0ad the ''The Empire Strikes Back'' reaction
By far the most mature, and most masterful entry into the Star Wars universe. Sad nothing will ever come to this level again.
Great movie. You need to watch the series Andor. Fantastic show. You see Cassians origin story. How he became a rebel. How the rebellion began.
Also no one lived. The call sign Rogue One was retired. In Empire Strikes Back Luke leads Rogue Squadron and he is referred to as Rogue Leader. Wedge is Rogue Two. The Rebels honored the sacrifice of Rogue One.
Something I thought about the other day, could Echo Bsae have been named after someone?!?
@@InaneValthonis Good observation.
The point of the movie is fan service, in the best possible way, and also finally demonstrating that "smaller" excerpts in the larger story COULD be adapted to the big screen, and done so *beautifully*. I saw this one in theaters and still love cranking it several times a year!
This is definitely my faveiot Disney made Star Wars film.
I saw this film in the theater. It was a great experience. Great reaction bro! 👍🏿
Rogue One is criminally underrated among the SW community. It is easily one of the best 3 films imo (along with RotS/Ep3 and Empire/Ep5). The plot is solid. It stays focused throughout. And the ending battle is easily one of the best in all of SW. Not to mention, my favorite actor Mads Mikkelson, kills this role as Galen Erso
Rogue One takes place right before Star Wars IV: A New Hope. If you remember in A New Hope, it starts off with Darth Vader capturing the rebel ship looking for the plans and Princess Leia and C-3PO and R2D2 were on board. Also, the first shot from the Death Star (the test) on the city only destroyed the city and the surrounding area. It didn't destroy the planet. Same with Scarif. The only time that the Death Star destroyed a planet was in Episode 4 when it blew up Alderaan (which is Princess Leia's adopted home planet).
Lastly, Donny Yen's character is 'Force sensitive'. Which basically means that he can feel the Force and use it for basic things but he didn't have enough connection with it to become a Jedi and be trained. I think one of the ways he used it people were saying was, when he was walking towards the switch and chanting that he was 'one with the Force', he was using the Force to make the enemy shots miss him.
You da mane. Love your channel
Cassian kills one of Saw’s rebels in order to save Jyn - she is right where the man is about to throw the grenade. This is why they are so angry at him.
Yes, it IS one of the best Star Wars movies ever made!
Which one would you say the second best is?
@@DevinGtv901 I believe revenge of the sith is second but personally I think it tie with rouge one both share the first place
@@TakakiM-sr1df ROGUE ONE, not "rouge"
@@SalvableRuin sry my auto correct is annoying and idk how to turn it off
Originally planned as a trilogy "Rogue One" was cut to just one movie as Disney wasn't sure of its reception, extra scenes were shot and it would have been nice to see how it would have gone, the end was always going to be tragic though!!!
You mentioned a few of the Star Wars shows however some you missed that you must see, "Mandalorian" , "The Book of Boba Fett"
15:55 Like Han Solo says “Never tell me the odds!”
Don't forget when Princess leai said In episode 4 a lot of people sacrificed their lives for this information. This is the beginning of episode four
Mon Mothma said that, not Leia.
I think that's Mon Mothma during Return of the Jedi, mentioning how many Bothans died just to get the DS2 plans? Not sure why it's so commonly misremembered.
@@WarlockSkygliderboth are white woman wearing white robes
@@pinkpenzu wtf do their skin colors matter? the point is the dialogue spoken.
@@theofficialphoenixtv5765 people keep confusing leia and mon mothma cause both are white women wearing white robes. Do you have trouble with reading comments?
I love how they basically made an entire movie based on a throw-away line from the original movie.
Original Line: Mon Montha says "Many people died getting these plans to us. Lets make their deaths worth it."
G. Lucas: "I got an idea! Lets make a film where everybody dies!"
That was in Jedi not a New Hope, though.
That was the Bothans who stole the second Death Star plans. The line you're looking for was in the first movie's crawl..."Rebel spies stole the plans..."
It's wild and hilarious how many people misremember the line in RoTJ as being in Episode 4 lol. That line has literally nothing to do with what's in this movie at all. The Bothan spy movie would have been waaay more cool. Or a movie about the original, much better character that stole the plans, Kyle Katarn
@@idiot_city5444 bro Kyle katarn would be lit. Moldy Crow baby
If you do all the TV series (which I would personally love), please don't skip Andor! It's the most phenomenal Star Wars content in my opinion. 💖
Yeah, I love it too. Star Wars is better without lightsabers and the Force. I keep telling people the best Marvel movie would be one where somehow all the heroes were stripped of their powers, and we just saw them doing regular stuff. It is not the fantastical elements that drew people in. Really people just want a good drama set in already established and beloved universes. The fantasy can be completely removed. LOL.
Watch episode 7,8,9 trilogy!!!
I love just how close to the original trilogy this prequel was. There is no real lag between the events of this movie & New Hope.
Hey dawg....got a bunch of star wars figures if u want sum thems. I actually looked like a dealer busting out the toys on the hood of my car telling my neighbor wat u want wat u need.shame couldnt find metal bikini leia. He was give me extra feds to find it.
What you got bro?
Andor killed the guerilla because he was about to toss a bomb down on the Imperial carrier that Jynn was hiding by.
All Vader wanted was to ask why he was still having to pay child support.
Then boom goes directly to the original Star Wars Movie!!!
Why no ""director Krenek" scene, where Vader chokes him?...
Devin glade you've gone down the path. As an OG Starwars fan this movie complements the original trilogy episode4 . As it was made 4 decades after, it was very sentimental and many eastereggs paid omage to the first film Star Wars. Enjoyed watching and be One with the force for it is with you... Always
✨️🎬✨️
Cassian killed saw guererras guy because he was about to chuck a grenade in the direction of Jyn. She was in a bad spot by the tank and Cassian had to protect the mission.
My step-daughter was working for Lucasfilm at the time this was finished. And she got to see this movie before anyone else along with her fellow Lucasfilm folk. When they showed it to the employees, they used the original crawl to episode IV but froze it when they came to the part about stealing the plans...then said, "This is their story."
I was disappointed that they didn't have that in the theatrical release...but I guess it would have been a humorous intro to what is a pretty serious movie, so I get it.
This is my favorite Star Wars Movie.
It shows the effects of war by not having them survive. In Episode 4 (this movie takes place directly before that movie) you don't see any of the original characters from this movie which is pretty much why they had to kill them off. They were so invested at this point that had they survived, they would have been there for episode 4, or more
Just because they weren't in A New Hope in itself doesn't mean that they had to die. There's any number of reasons not to be there.
You left out the scene at Darth Vader's Castle?
In case it hasn't been commented.. Cassian shot that rebel because the grenade he was about to throw would've killed Jyn and he needed Jyn over anything.
You finally watched it. It's fantastic.x
Look mom I'm on TV.
I'm glad Devin watched this one.
As a stand alone war flick this movie holds it own. Add in its part of Star Wars makes it epic
The plot alone is fantastic! I feel like you can watch this without knowing the back story and understand it
@@DevinGtv901 same here. Besides episode 3 this is my favorite star wars movie
Devin, I saw Rogue One in theaters during its initial run and it was SO damned good, I was the same 10 year old kid sitting in the theater watching the original Star Wars in 1977 again. Obviously, I'm going to have some pieces to connect for you between Rogue One and the "Episode" movies (1-6), that you may find interesting.... but also, some "behind the scenes" stuff that I think will surprise you. You likely already know that the plot for this movie was taken from the opening crawl for Episode IV (A New Hope). The idea of "standalone" Star Wars movies was brought up not long after Disney bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas. These "Anthology" movies would be set in the same universe, but could be self contained within a single movie and take place anywhere in the timeline. Rogue One was to be the first of these movies, which could be "linked" to the Skywalker Saga, but focus on different characters and events. The second Anthology movie was "Solo: A Star Wars Story"... but more on that later (at the end of this video).
Also, there are a few "Easter Eggs" in this movie, that I will point out... but you may not understand because you haven't watched the animated shows yet. Don't worry, no spoilers on the shows themselves, just noting specific characters that you'll (hopefully) see outside of the movies (either in animated form, or live-action via television shows).
Chances are this comment will overflow the buffer, so look for a reply to this comment for the rest.
Now, off we go...
1:25 - The man on the screen is Saw Guerrera. He first appeared in the Clone Wars animated series, but wasn't a "main cast" member. You'll see him pop up from time to time, but this was his "live action" debut. No spoilers, but Saw is in charge of a group fighting the Empire, and is an "extremist" in both his beliefs and his tactics.
3:20 - Of course. Saw was Galen's "protection plan" should Krenic (the guy with the white cape) happen to find him and his family. Lyra was supposed to go with Saw and Jyn, but she chose to try and protect her husband. Galen knew that HE would have to go if they were found, but he wanted to hide Lyra and Jyn with Saw to keep them safe.
3:30 - Introducing Cassian Andor, a character who struck such a chord with fans that he was given his own backstory series. Season 1 is already out and on Disney+, and Season 2 is in pre-production. Trust me, it's damned good!
4:10 - Cassian actually did Tivik (the dude he shot) a favor. He was panicking knowing he couldn't climb out, so he would be caught by the Empire and tortured for whatever information he had. Cassian couldn't allow that information to fall into the Empire's hands, he killed the messenger.
4:55 - In case you didn't recognize it, that was the Rebel base on the 4th moon of Yavin from Episode IV.
5:13 - You know..... the little girl from the begining of the movie who saw her mother murdered and her father taken away by the Empire? The one who waited in an underground bunker until Saw Guerrera came and rescued her?
5:55 - Same cause, yes. However, VERY different methods.
9:47 - This is Saw's "Partisans". Also, you see the difference between Saw's group and the Rebellion as far as ideologies go. Saw had no problem putting innocent civilians in harm's way in order to hurt the Empire. Whereas the Rebellion always took as great a care as they could to minimize civilian casualties.
10:10 - Cassian's mission, aside from making contact with Saw and his people, is to protect Jyn. Had that guy tossed that grenade, Jyn would have been either injured or killed.
10:56 - When K2 slaps Cassian.... he actually DID make contact with Diego Luna's nose accidentally. Look closely, and you can see Diego (Cassian) cover his amusement over the accident because he was laughing about it. Alan Tudyk (who played K2-SO) apologized all over himself after the director yelled "Cut!". Diego Luna was really cool about it, knowing that accidents happen. Also, it was the best take so it was left in the movie.
13:10 - You've probably figured this out already, but Saw, aside from being an extremist, is also VERY paranoid. I won't say why, but you can find out later on.
15:25 - In case your wondering why Saw chose to stay and die on Jedha, it's because he knew that if Jyn, Cassian, and everyone waited around for him, they would ALL die. Saw died as he had lived.... "for the greater good". He did a lot of terrible things, sacrificed many lives that didn't need to be sacrificed, but when it came down to it, he sacrificed his own for the same cause.
18:55 - We used to call that "Dry-Snitching". ;)
22:38 - In case you didn't recognize him, that's Bail Organa (Senator from the planet of Alderaan)... the guy who adopted Leia after Episode III.
24:20 - Jedha (the planet) wasn't completely destroyed, but Jedha city was. The original novelization for Star Wars (before it was subtitled A New Hope) did describe the Death Star as having different power settings. Full Power is what you saw in Episode IV with Alderaan. "Single Reactor" was what hit Jedha city. Don't get me wrong, the planet as a whole was devastated by that blast, but it wasn't completely destroyed. Oh, and that little girl that Jyn saved from the street there? Yeah.... she died in that blast.
24:25 - Also, the woman wearing the white robes is Mon Mothma, senator from the planet Chandrilla. I mention her because she first appeared (different actor) in Return of the Jedi. She had a "sub-plot" in Episode III that was cut out for pacing reasons. She also was well known to oppose the Emperor about many things, and she would eventually go into hiding when she was deemed "treasonous" by the Emperor a few months before the events of this movie took place.
24:35 - Heh. You're forgetting a detail here, my friend. The Empire rose from the ashes of the Republic about 19 years ago (timeline wise). Yes, of course Bail and Mon are referring to Obi-Wan Kenobi with "The Jedi", but as to the one he would "trust her with my life"... that can only be one person: Leia.... daughter of Anakin and Padme.
25:45 - Very good! You figured that plan out quick. =D
26:38 - Pause the frame the second it switches to the guy running out screaming "SENATOR!!" you have to do this very quickly. On the left side of the screen is a droid rolling out of frame with an orange "dome", though it's a bit more angular than R2's dome. That droid is C1-10P, also known as Chopper. That droid.... is my favorite droid in all of Star Wars. Without spoilers, I'll simply say that he is a real bad-ass, and I guess leave it at that. Yes, K2-SO is a droid I love, as is R2-D2, along with L3-37 and L0-LA (whom you haven't met yet), and those are all behind Chopper. Those are my "Top 5" favorite droids in Star Wars.
Chopper is a pre-Clone Wars era astromech (like R2-D2)... and if you listen to him carefully (when you see him in something other than a cameo) it's quite possible to understand what he's saying..... and just so you know, he has a foul mouth.
27:43 - It wasn't as fast as it looked on screen. Most of Blue squadron got through, as did a few U-Wings full of troops to reinforce the ground units.
That "Darth Vader hallway scene" wasn't in the original script. The scene where Krennic went to Mustafar was. About 2 months before the movie released in theaters, John Knoll had the idea that "Vader should have a 'bad-ass scene' showing him at the height of his power in the Dark Side." The scene was approved, and a reshoot was scheduled and completed. That scene also reinforced how Vader knew that Leia was part of the Rebel Alliance in Episode IV. He had literally watched her ship leave the scene of the crime before catching up to them over Tatooine.
This movie really "blurred the lines" of who the "good guys" really are when it comes to war. Cassian, as he even said, did a lot of terrible things on behalf of the Rebellion... to restore freedom to the galaxy. Saw was even worse in that regard. But as Cassian said, "for a cause I believed in". Also, during the battle on Jedha, the Stormtroopers referred to Saw's people as "Terrorists". After all, they were fighting to end the "legitimate government" of the galaxy, and Saw's people were "fanatical" and "extreme" with regard to their methods and tactics. If an innocent civilian died in the battle, "Oh well. Sacrifices have to be made."
Also, yes, the animated shows as well as the live action shows are all worth watching. But go in "timeline" order, if you can. Otherwise you'll be bouncing around and confused a lot more.
Honestly when i have kids. And we get to watching Star wars. We are watching this first. Then a new hope. It sets the tone and the stakes of the series so well.
Rogue One is awesome. Hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Thanks my friend! I hope you do as well
@Devin G It works as a stand alone film but if you see the first 3 prequels it sets up 4,5,and 6 so well. Looking forward to seeing you go down the rabbit hole I hope with the 6 episode Obiwon series or the 6 year run of Clone Wars. I wonder if your opinions changed since you saw this, imo this Is the Best Star Wars movie, a realistic version, surprised tf outta me disney could produce true grit like this.
not saying Star wars 1-3 & 4-6 aren't amazing, just saying as a stand alone, what a Film!
Any reason you do these on this channel instead of your Disney one? idk if you do TV series.. but I think you would love The Mandalorian (starwars series)
Skipping Vader's intro? Absolute blasphemy
Advisory on further watching - Clone Wars. Start with the movie, then get a watchlist and watch a few episodes at a time. Then Rebels, then - if you want to put yourself through them - the Sequels. Then start on Mandoverse - Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka. Watch BoBF in between seasons 2 & 3 of Mandalorian. Ahsoka after Mando s.3. Put Obi-Wan Kenobi where you want, though after the Clone Wars helps for a few details, and Inquisitors were a big part of Rebels. Watch Ahsoka after Rebels. Andor is a prequel to this movie. Bad Batch absolutely needs to be after Clone Wars, and it also have Rebels references, but more as prequel references to it. Tales of the Jedi can be watched at any point after Clone Wars. Honestly Tales of the Empire should be put after Ahsoka, because half of it is about a character in season 1.
Acolyte seems rather disconnected, as apparently it is a prequel to the Prequels.
Don't forget about episodes 7, 8,9...... I was hoping for a continuence from the book series but not bad.I love Luke Skywalker ...definitely Do not miss the mandolorian season one and two... Excellent finale most impressive. 789 Is why Eight was scared of seven
Are those worth the watch?
@@DevinGtv901 One word ...Luke skywalker.... jedi supreme master
@@DevinGtv901 Depends on who you ask, but for me, not really. There's some really good stuff in there but for every good thing there's 2 bad things. The problem is that they made each movie without planning for the rest of the trilogy so it's a total mess of a story. If you want to watch it bearing that in mind though then go for it! If you do watch them I hope you enjoy them, because personally I don't
Watch SW the Clone Wars in chronological order (you can find the order online), and then The Bad Batch. SW the Clone Wars takes place after Episode 2(movie 2) Attack of the clones.
I don't personally think it the best Star Wars movie but I do think it is a very good movie. I rate it above episodes 1&2 but behind 3-6 personally. I do greatly enjoy the movie though, and it shows a different, more dirty and brutal side to the rebellion than we had seen before.
The old Black guy is Forest Whitaker from Black Panther,Bloodsport with Van Damn.
I still think Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith is the best movie but this is definitely one of the greats as well. Great reaction. I noticed your first reaction was to episode 6 then you did 1 thru 3 and then 4 but did you ever watch episode 5? Also as far as trilogies go this isn’t a part of a trilogy there are 3 trilogies 1-3 is the prequels 4-6 is the original and 7-9 is the sequels. This takes place between 3 and 4.

May the force be with you ✌🏽💯🔥

So good
I wish I wasn't broken, but I just don't get all the hype for this movie. It is just okay to me, and definitely not the best Star Wars. But I'm glad so many people love, I just wish it did something for me. But alas it doesn't
He had to get a message to A MAN, Obi wan, and she said you'll need someone you can trust (to deliver the message), and he said he will trust her, HIS DAUGHTER LEIA, with his life. Make sense?
Yo you finally seent it! Devin u da man!
It was a Must fam!!
Yes everyone from the Orginal Rogue 1 Dies.
And Rogue one was started again in New hope in honor of the Orginal Rogue 1.
Are you actually watching the movie? Saw's guy was gonna throw a detonator at the vehicle Jin was hiding behind and she would have been killed. That's why Andor shot him.
Don’t bother watching Kenobi Or Boba Fett . Mandalorian season one and two was good. Season three sucks though.
Lmao still going backwards…I see. Continuing to get Confused. (Nodding my Head 😧)
The Andor series follows the main guys story before this movie. and its honestly one of the best star wars stories in my opinion. hope you check it out. ANDOR is the shows title
that was a pretty stupid decision at the beginning , everyone working for the empire lives pretty well off. if it was between taking him as a prisoner and killing the family over taking him as an employee and taking the family to live with him they really decided to choose violence at the wrong damn time ..
This is the best of the Disney era of Star wars movies, the movie of Han Solo, to my like is another god movie, i still don't undestand why is so hated.
Devin… if you remember from empire strikes back episode 5.. Luke skywalker named his squadron rogue group, paying homage to rogue one, everyone from the rebellion new rogue one were the true G’s who gave it all, even Luke paid respects
Technically you're supposed to root for Vader at the end! Vader almost got them!
This was the last actual Star Wars feature length film. Everything else is trash, this was art.

Could you react to star wars the clone wars series :) would recommend watching it in chronological order
the clone wars series in between ep1-3 7 seasons i think, its so good. kenobi i don't like only because the timeline is retarded.
This is such a good movie very star wars realistic and not plot armor that the jedi and other hero characters have in this movie the main characters do not have plot armor and they actually die snd die for a good cause without them getting the death star plans luke would have never destroy the death star
Rogue one is the only Disney Star Wars movie that I'll watch!
Devin, you are the only reactor I know that uses dual cameras. Love that bout your vids
Did you not react to the first vader scene where he talks to crinic? Or is that just saved for patreon members?
Awesome reaction but for me Revenge of the Sith is still the best in the series, I love the action and story in that one.
In the wise words of Mr. T regarding the crew of Rogue One- "Dead Meat"
*The Best WHAT ?!*
Ain't No real Fan Would Say that ever.
You did realize this leads right into A NEW HOPE?
the whole point of the movie was to show that the rebellion needed sacrifices to be made, like this one
You should see the clone wars and the bad batch
Which one comes first?
@@DevinGtv901 the clone wars. The bad batch is a continuation, and it Takes action after epidode 3 and before rouge one. Take care!

“All I am surrounded by is fear, and dead men”
was hoping you would watch this gem of a movie 🔥🔥🔥
Now you gotta watch the Kenobi series and then the Andor series!
I loved this film. It's such a great story of how the rebels stole the Death Star plans, and it perfectly lines up with A New Hope and the rest of the Original Trilogy. Easily the best SW film we got under Disney, and easily one of the best SW films ever. Although, I'd say THE best is Revenge Of The Sith
There's nothing perfect or good about this movie
I remember seeing this in theaters and it was amazing. Happy to watch it again with you
