I just picked up an AT Max with Z-link probe. Love it. Hunted an area hunted multiple tines with my old Teknetics. In around 8 hours of hunting I found 4 silver coins, 1 silver pendant and 4 silver rings. One possible gold.
You lucky dogs. Another reason why I like Garrett machines. Great finds and congrats on the opportunity to showcase the AT Max. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Loved Bobs comment at the end. I use a Minelab explorer II. Purchased brand new in 2005 and still going strong. In England I wouldn't use any other machine. Most people in my club use either the Etrac or 3030. Does my trusty old Explorer II get out performed by its bigger brothers. Not on my life it doesn't. Technology moves on but silliness kicks in. Half the gimmicks on the 3030 are not needed. I just want to operate a metal detector that works with no added gibberish. The only draw back I find with the minelab is its weight. That is why I come up with a simple cost affective solution. Happy hunting from England. P.s. Love the variety of milled coins you and the team find.

Another fun one, Kurt. 3 things - 1) "I got deuced", (which, by the way, could've been a great sound byte tag at the end) sounds like a traumatic Wednesday, immediately following Taco Tuesday; 2) Check out the 4:00 mark - all I can say is, "Help me, Obi-Wan!!"; and 3) Check out the 4:51 mark. Since I'm sure you wouldn't have missed it by, at the very least, re-swiping the hole, what I have to assume is a perfectly arc shaped blade of dead grass, is doing a DEAD ON impression of either a nickel rim, non-reeded rim silver coin, silver ring rim, or even gold ring rim, just above the skeleton key. It literally looks like a "silvery" coin or ring on edge, mostly obscured by a dirt clod, just above that key. In fact, when you first say, "check this out", I really thought you were referring to what my brain saw as a coin or ring. Even the combination of shade, dirt, sunlight, color of the grass blade, make it appear that the high point is shining from direct sunlight.....freaky good mirage, I guess. Please pause at 4:51 and tell me what you think. I even searched all the responses so far, to see if anyone else saw what I did. Sorry about the near dissertation level of this post. :-) P.S. That "deuce" should be awesome with the dirt gone and excellent green patina still in place!

Wow 5 years gone by. I loved the AT Pro and swung it for years. The AT Max was a step down and Garrett never recovered. Good thing it led me to buy a Deus one, then an Equinox. Everything happens for a reason, even the AT Max.

Great video I've Ben metal detecting going 3 years going on my 4th year I have a huge collection lots of silver coins found all ready 18 rings from silver to gold found a silver belt buckle one of my rings is a possy ring from the writing inside of the ring I match it to 1690's to early 1700's for 2 large cent coins dating 1830's lots of things one silver Morgan Dollar and a half dollar from 1940's when I started I bought the ace 250 and bought the 9/12 coil witch made it better and that machine brought me 90 percent of my stuff for a starter not bad then this last summer I bought the ace 400 I live in Massachusetts when I bought the ace 400 the max was not released to us yet and I was going to Virginia Beach for a week and I was going to buy the At pro but after the guy where I bought my 400 telling me all the great features on the At max I said I'll wait we'll the 400 is not a bad machine great too !! Well holidays passing by my great lovely girl of mine that I dearly love told me to right a list of things I wanted for Christmas well guess what I wrote hehehehe the great Garrett AT MAX I wrote it on my list like ten times and yesterday Christmas morning opening presents I got the lovely At max wow wow can't wait to use this bad boy witch I have the Garrett black pinpointer and the new AT carrot pinpointer so now I have what I wanted for metal detecting !! I love mind lab metal detectors but reason I got the max was because I think Garrett is a very good brand and the ace being a low entry level machine found me a lot of good things and about 300 bucks in new clad witch I used that on the ace 400 I won't sell my silver and gold that's for shore but noing how good the ace 250 treated me I jump on the 400 and it paid of right alway as I found a 14k rope necklace and a 10k charm and a few silver dimes and a silver ring and bunch of new clad so I'll use the 250 as a loner for Frend's or my nephews and the 400 as a back up and my max for me got to love it am going to get the water proof earphones and for dry land the aftermarket rechargeable battery pack and a aftermarket coil don't know yet witch one !! All I can say is everything I've said is true and I buy my stuff not free to right a review garret is a very good brand for anyone thinking of trying this all some hobby !!! There's good metal detectors out don't get me wrong because I love the mine lab metal detector but I went with the max because I don't want to have a 2500 hundred dollar machine that I can't understand when in use and I've proved my self that it's not about have a better machine yes it helps but I found plenty with the 250 and the 400 made it way better with digging junk so yes u do pay for what u get but too a point! trick or tip is dig it all even when u master the machine because I've found good stuff when u think to skip it !! Well as winter is here I have to wait to use the max !! Agin great metal detectors I love the volume that's a plus and the light in the display about time and the hand grip love it and wireless plus I hate that cable when digging so it was worth the wait for the max thank god I didn't buy the AT pro 7 months ago I would of ben bummed as I would of had to buy the max !!!! Thank u Garrett for the great metal detectors u guys are making so far !! I hope u guys don't make a new model ever year to bring in the money and making shit ass machines !! And making it affordable for us middle class or for us poor people !!!!! Can't wait max hear we come to clean the left overs that I left behind in all these parks and schools I hit 😁😁
I bet the standard coil is just great on the Max, but do you recommend any other coil (from Nel/CORS) for the At Max? I want a big honking coil for the beach.
I use the NEL Tornado Coil for extra depth and surface coverage

The barber and the 2c peice looked excellent condition. i love when they look that good. The matches holder that bob found was cool too. I like those kinda relics little cool things ya just dont see anymore and they were built to last. If that machine wasn't so expensive id get one. My lady picked up the 350 ace for Christmas for me a couple yrs ago and i couldn't believe she spent that much but if i had known i would have add the funds to get the pro or gold. Hh guys stay safe

I like the look of that machine, Mud Max on the AT Max? Some UK people worry that machines geared for American coins could miss small thin hammereds. Did you find any tiny thin targets with the AT Max?
Yes. I was pulling tiny targets all weekend. It can be used for tiny gold nuggets. It shouldn't be a problem
Nice. Think you AT Pro Garrett specialists had an edge with the Max? I really like my Z-Lynk & with it built in on the Max, that's a nice feature. Now if it only worked as well in water as well as the Excalibur II and 30-30!
The AT Gold people had an advantage. I've been using the Gold a lot lately to get my ears ready for the max. They share the same tones. A tweet different from the Pro.
The AT Max is a beast
Just rolled in from a late day on the field and find this vid was added. That is a super 2 cent piece, the silvers are nice also! Glad to see a good test hunt with the Max. My only concern is with the z link added to the main system is the battery life affected much? Stay safe and HH... Pat
The battery life is a little less then what you may expect from the Pro or gold. Not because of the zink, but more Power. Still an excellent machine on batteries.

What makes a good metal detecting area? I know permission is obviously a must and being on the east coast or older parts of the county helps but what advice do you have?
It would be cool if y'all did a video on area and what makes a good area/ how to ask for permission etc.
We pick an old town and drive around. You have nothing to lose just to gain. Just introduced yourself tell them what you do and ask. Some people are nice and some are not.

Good video as always guys! Is the Max just a little lower Khz and no Pro mode as compared to the At Pro? Seems like a At Pro with less settings to play with, at slightly lower khz, which could help with coins possibly...
It's wired more like the AT Gold, but on steroids. All the AT's are coin killers due to Garrets beautiful high tone. I love what they did with this machine

Hey Hoover Boys, I saw both your reviews on the AT Max and the Nokta Impact. Both are great vids. Which one performed better and which one do you recommend? I am on the fence with both.
Both great machines. The Impact is more customizable but I prefer the Max. Just my taste. Waterproof is important to me as well
WOW, that is a beautiful barber. And a very nice 2 cent. How long before you get a MAX an put a big coil on it?
These were just test machines. I wish I knew when Garrett was releasing the final product. Hopefully no later then July. The NEL coils work. We tried it. All the Pro, Gold, Max coils are interchangeable

Seems a few more bells and a whistle. This is the second review on the Max I've seen. What I'm noticing recently, people are finding good machines in other brands as well. Tough market for the manufactures. I can say some of the top Tubers, You all have sold a bunch of Garretts .
This is simply a filed test. I will do a full review when I get a Max I can call my own. I don't care what people buy. As long as they're having fun

At the 10:08 marker would that possibly be a side of a straight razor ? Appears to be the right shape which when opened it would be the handle. Just a thought :)
