Makes me cry EVERY. TIME. I was practically in hysterics when I saw this in person. Watching all of the puppets come down the aisles and onto the stage was a hell of an experience. Definitely going to go see it again when I get the chance.
I saw this performance while visiting London and had the same exact reaction. I started bawling when the elephant came walking down the middle of the aisle. Watching this on TH-cam is one thing, but it's one of those performances you have to see live just to feel the raw emotion and power that comes from these performers.
I cry so hard just watching the videos (over and over and over -- hundreds of times) that i honestly worry that if I saw it in person, I would be so hysterical I'd have to leave the theatre...or else I'd get punched by the audience members on either side of me. I might have to take an Ativan before hand to stay civilized -- I dunno!!
Thank you for your performance. I saw this play for the first time as a child. I was 13. I am 37 now and saw it last year again after so long. Brought tears to my eyes. It's still such a magical experience. Actors like you make that magic visceral. Real. Thank you so much
You were Simba? Wow. I've never seen a stage production but have always wanted to see The Lion King, it came out when I was six and has always been my favorite.
Seeing this is great but seeing it live for the first time, you don’t realize how BEAUTIFUL EVERY SINGLE PART OF THIS MUSICAL REALLY IS!!! I’ll NEVER forget seeing the elephant and her baby walk through the crowd. Even as a kid when I saw this from broadway I was left in tears just from the first opening song! It literally leaves you SPEECHLESS
Personally, I think this show has far more meaning than the remake film. Not just because it's adapted with respect to the original film and with the same creative spirit and love, but because of the amazing cultural richness of the costumes and props. And how those costumes and the body puppets re so amazingly adapted to show the actors while maintaining the animal characteristics, the most amazing thing to me.
I saw this for my birthday in Edinburgh at the weekend. As someone who has wanted to see this for YEARS, and has waited it to return to Edinburgh for 7 years it was truly INCREDIBLE. It wasn’t just a musical. It was an EXPERIENCE. As the number started I couldn’t help but start crying. The amount of work that goes into a musical that has been touring for the last 22 years. The realisation that I was there, sitting in that audience watching the cast walk on stage. Knowing that one of my dreams had just come true. If you ever get the chance go see it, do it! It will be one of the best experiences you’ve spent you money on. It is worth every, single penny! Edit: saw it again in Edinburgh on Thursday and (somehow) it was even better!
I saw them in January right before the pandemic got bad. My sister and I got tickets as a Christmas gift. We were in tears by the end of this number. It was so beautiful.
I saw this two years ago and when I heard the first few notes of the opening acting I got goosebumps and almost starting crying. Love it. Also if you haven’t seen les mis you should see it.
And if you have a chance to go in London one day, buy ticket cause you just saw the tour version! The Original is amazing! The pride rock from the bottom of the stage and several other things. On tour nothing came from the bottom and change a lot of things
*sees the animated movie* I prefer the real Lion King. *sees the live action movie* I said the REAL Lion King. *watches Circle of Life Broadway on TH-cam* Perfection.
I had tears rolling down my face both times I've been able to see this in the London West End. Even watching this clip gives me goosebumps and makes my eyes watery..
I've attended this 16 times in 4 different cities (the first, being New York City). I always take others to see it. I've had my students perform it for their spring production and I've attended countless of my colleagues productions of it. As much as I love the entire play, I'm good after the opening scene. It is mind boggling each time. I've seen it from floor seats, the mezzanine, but mostly the lower balcony. In my opinion that gives you the most majestic view. Yes, I'm a bit obsessed with it.
My dad was fascinated by them... I remember him saying he wanted to take one to disassemble and see how it worked. Me, I was blown away by their creativity and practicality, how they all showed each animal in such a realistic way while incorporating their actors perfectly.
I saw this on Broadway when I was 11 years old I am 30 now and I still remember this never forgot it. It was so unforgettable. It was so good. I really want to go back. This was so so so good.
Totally agree. I saw this musical at The Pantages Theater in LA. MAGICAL!!! POWERFUL!!! I sat on the aisle, not knowing what to expect. When the rhino walked past me then the beautiful ladies representing the flock of birds, my mind was blown; it was so spectacular. This is the genius of Julie Taymor.
I saw it on Broadway and literally wept during this part. I use a wheelchair and the wheelchair seating is right by where some of the cast enters. I got a closeup view of the stunning costumes!
My mom took me to see this when I was around 25 and even though I grew up going to broadway shows I was in awe sitting on the isle seat with the elephants walking right past us. One of the best shows hands down
I hope this becomes the first musical we get back once this pandemic FINALLY ends because imagine all of us in the theatre just hearing the first note drop and crying. We deserve this.
I never had the chance to see them but I know myself I would cry until the end, this movie has such a special place in my heart that just hearing the songs makes me cry. No need to say how much chills I get

But there was once, it was my birthday, she bought the upper circle tickets, it was Lion King! And I remember that when we were on the tube, she held my hands, looked into my eyes, and said she wished she had bought the stalls tickets.
My daughter and I saw Lion King in NYC eight years ago. It will be coming to our area in Spring 2022. Her daughter will be 3 by then. We will be taking her, it’s such a visual treat.
@@doyouhearthepeoplesing2 In the UK 6 is the recommended minimum age for The Lion King but the actual restriction is no under 3's. I was taken to see it just before my 4th birthday and still have programme book from 1999

Just have to say, of all the Lion King onstage recordings I've watched on TH-cam, this one shows panoramic view of the start of the show with more clarity and beauty than any other! I haven't seen another video that captures so clearly the entire lighting progression from the dark stage to the dark blue sky to the dawn, the sunrise, the shimmer of heat, the MIST rising off the ground(!!!!!) all the way through each animal's entrance. Thank you, videographer, for doing that -- it's just fantastic!!!! There's little details I caught in this recording that I hadn't noticed before, like the fact that the baby elephant (my favorite!!!) had a little bird on his head, or that the two gazelles stand like bookends on either far side of the stage, making sure the herds are gathering in an organized fashion (like bouncers, hee hee), or how sweet Mufasa and his wife are to each other as they stand on Pride Rock, nuzzling every now and then, and holding hands. Augh, I'm weepy again. ;)
I saw this with my grandma and it was AMAZING As well as seeing Aladdin at Disneyland and the little mermaid on broadway with my mother who has now passed Disney musicals are honestly just as great maybe even better than the original movies! Honestly some of my greatest memories!
This was my first Broadway show with my sister, her husband and my late husband when I lived in Manhattan/NYC for 16 years. I fell in love with the show and the music. Back then they sold DVD's downstairs and I HAD to buy it. It was $24 and kind of out of our budget. But it was one of the best thing I ever bought. The DVD is useless now, but I still hold on to it. I've heard the entire music/songs a million times and it never gets old.
I’ve seen this magnificent musical three times here in Los Angeles and will do so again when I go to NYC in January 2022. Every time the cast enters by coming down the aisles singing in their beautiful costumes I got teary eyed. Just fabulous!
I have no idea why but every single time and I mean EVERY, I just burst into tears and bawl my eyes out while watching and listening to this. The first time I watched it was in a theatre class and it took everything in me not to start sobbing in the middle of class, I ended up discreetly wiping my tears 😃
Seen it twice. Once in Melbourne then in New York before covid came. I cried so much when I heard this. Happiness and memories flooding back. If I ever get the chance to go and see the lion king again I will
Absolutely loved watching this! I was so fortunate to see The Lion King on Broadway in 2011. It was my first and only time I’ve flown abroad. I hope to see it again in London one day.
I remember seeing this in person for the first time and practically vibrating out of my seat with excitement as soon as I heard the first note. Seeing the huge elephant coming down the aisle was a mind-blowing experience, and the whole thing was truly magical. The acting, the set, the music, THE COSTUMES, it's all so incredible. Everyone should go see this in person at least once in their lives. I can't even find the words to describe how amazing it is.
I was never a big fan of Lion King the animated film. I mean... I liked it enough, I liked the music, but it was never a Disney movie that made we want to watch the animation again and again. I then went to go see Lion King the musical, and I thought, "NOW THIS is how it should be done. It blows the animated film out of the water." I cry everytime I see the Circle of Life opening scene. It's SO powerful.
When I understand this thing now it makes me feel so happy because that's such a beautiful play and the end is just as beautiful thank you thank you thank you We are all truly in the circle of life Only one creator
There is something about seeing this in person that is extremely overwhelming in the most beautiful way. Tears well in my eyes every time. Before covid, the yaks during the stampede would fill the isles and "run" with the audience. Im not sure what changed this, honestly. It was one of my favorite parts of the show. Seeing this number alone live is worth the ticket price. This video doesn’t do it justice since you can’t see the singers in the audience boxes and the puppets coming down the aisles right by you. It’s a beautiful, beautiful show and I’m so glad I just got to see it live.
I saw it live in Birmingham years ago and it still gives me chills. What a beautiful show! Someday I hope to take my little nieces to see it if it's still going in a few years when they're old enough.
That's amazing ☺ loved all the songs from lion King since a young lad now at 35 and I still love them and circle of life was right at the top. They did that song very well ☺ I'd love to see these
If possible, this will be the first show I will see when Theatre opens back up. I haven’t seen it, for some reason, and the power of this show would be a fantastic return
I have seen it two days ago for the first time, and I was crying through this whole scene. It is amazing! I plan to go and watch it again, as long as they are in Zürich!
I saw this in Singapore when it came, and the hardest part was not singing this song, and how the actors brush through the audeience was incredible because all the puppets were so well made, and I grew up with watching this
Cry every time i hear this song because of the memory of my grand Mother Who passed away from cancer you are now among the stars shining brighter then ever i will Never forget what you have teached me about life ❤️😪 miss u #nevertakelifeforgranted #lovepeopleliketheloveyou
I saw this a few days ago at the Hult center in Eugene. When all the actors walked down the stairs, I was shook. The vocals were so good and it was hilarious how they added in inside jokes. Seriously though, I loved it, and i wish the cast the best of luck in their upcoming performances 😊💜
I went to see this at lyceum theatre in London with the rest of my year group and it was so freaking good....I cried at can you feel the love tonight but the applause in this video were so underwhelming, when I went to see it people were screaming, clapping and whistling

That is the most UNENTHUSIASTIC audience ever! This is the only live action Lion King that should ever exist!
It was a media call so the media were mostly building up the audience. These performances are never loud with applause, etc.
Seeing this number alone live is worth the ticket price. This video doesn’t do it justice since you can’t see the singers in the audience boxes and the puppets coming down the aisles right by you.
It’s a beautiful, beautiful show and I’m so glad I just got to see it live.
I saw this at the theater. It was AMAZING! I was a giant ball of tears.
One of the most life-enhancing performances you will ever see. Thrilling.
I saw it live in Birmingham years ago and it still gives me chills. What a beautiful show! Someday I hope to take my little nieces to see it if it's still going in a few years when they're old enough.
I always tell people, if they're only going to see one big stage production it absolutely has to be the lion king. 10/10 production 1:22 😊
That's amazing ☺ loved all the songs from lion King since a young lad now at 35 and I still love them and circle of life was right at the top. They did that song very well ☺ I'd love to see these
i saw this on one of the front rows. it shook me her voice is so powerful. ❤❤❤
Excellent creativity,great.❤God bless U all.❤
I wish I could watch this again live, I literally cried when I saw this in person, it was worth it
Saw this two years ago. Its was just life altering♥️
Watching this with my daughter. She's in love with this scene.
Just this scene alone makes it worth seeing.
The best show that I was yet. São Paulo-Brazil.
The costumes are amazing. Production itself really excellent.
I’ve seen this play twice and i cried the entire time it’s so incredible ❤
If possible, this will be the first show I will see when Theatre opens back up. I haven’t seen it, for some reason, and the power of this show would be a fantastic return
I have seen it two days ago for the first time, and I was crying through this whole scene. It is amazing! I plan to go and watch it again, as long as they are in Zürich!
Omg this ALWAYS makes me wanna cry, brings up so many memories
I saw this in Singapore when it came, and the hardest part was not singing this song, and how the actors brush through the audeience was incredible because all the puppets were so well made, and I grew up with watching this
I recently rewatched this amazing musical ,still was an epic experience
When the animals came down the aisles I wanted to cry
I did. The elephants made me lose it.
Yes! I saw this musical twice! It was so amazing!
Every time I hear this my African pride kicks in, and I’m a Mexican.
Saw this in Singapore and just bawled.
seeing this is person was so magical i was literally holding back tears in this scene and i reccomended everyone goes to see it at least once
I went to see this at lyceum theatre in London with the rest of my year group and it was so freaking good....I cried at can you feel the love tonight but the applause in this video were so underwhelming, when I went to see it people were screaming, clapping and whistling
