Ditto, but they deserve to play to an amphitheater of thousands and I saw them in a dinky little place cramped full of people flipping out over their sound.
@@CDavis-jt5fh I love the small stage for these guys. You can see them at any point in the venue, and that loudness is so much more intimate than standing in back of a thousand people.
I remember suddenly that R.E.M. was once dubbed “the band you grew up with”. Then Boris is the band I live with, even though I don’t listen to them everyday. It is in my house really. That much they represent what the music should sound, and be sung, and be rung. Listen how they elaborate the sound they make, and avoid layering many useless sound, they are always so effective.
Yes, but it's extremely underground because legally they treat all drugs pretty much the same. Mandatory long sentences in their brutal prison system, and unending family shame for an eighth of weed or a bag of crystal meth. Japanese musicians just seem really keyed into understanding what makes a particular genre or vibe work and elaborating on it, though. It's also interesting because they don't have the scene and politics attached to a lot of styles like punk and metal, so they just mash genres up as they see fit and come up with some awesome shit.
Up to ten years in prison and a fine on top of that equivalent to 15-20k dollars. Plus Japan has a culture very different from western countries regardless of what side of the Atlantic you are on. You get shunned in a whole other way over there if you get caught doing something illegal. So if you think they smoke tons of weed you are probably in the wrong, they might be but I very much doubt it. Peace
Fuckin love them, saw them live, never been the same since

i'd have to agree, mostly for the reason that my hearing has reduced by a single digit percentage
Ian Astbury of The Cult on backing vocals, too!
