Somebody should produce a "For Dummies" book for specific makes/models of VFD. I have this specific VFD, which has been set aside for several years. When I got it, I made pages of annotations. When I pulled it out again (still works), those notes were extremely valuable. The thick little book is incomplete and not perfect. Many of us aren't trying to automate a plant; we aren't trying to have various sensors adjust the motor. We just want a three phase motor to run on single phase. We need the VFD to run, stop, and reverse the motor. Braking might be useful, and variable speed would be icing on the cake. Even real, genuine factories may simply want to run "exactly what we need, but the wrong rpm" motor at 43hz. That horrible manual is truly an act of cruelty. But Hitachi, and other makers, are so proud of three or maybe four ways to control speed, they fail to mention the VFD is essentially locked out when it leaves the factory. Not explicitly mentioned in the printed manual. Oh yeah, the printed manual is not complete, you need to download the PDF... They suggest a crimper to attach ferrules to control wires. That crimper costs more than the VFD! You really do need a ferrule crimper, or maybe not. It seems terminal strip is impossible to access. Oh, I see, the removable access panel is EXACTLY THE SAME COLOR! And the cover that blocks the panel is EXACTLY the same color also! Oh, remove one screw, and, uh, oh, PRY IT OFF? yeah, sort of, it's also snapped on, besides the screw at the bottom right corner. Honestly, why not buy a cheap Chinese VFD and have exactly the same frustration for much less money? Or... Why not produce a simple VFD, and SPEND MONEY ON MAKING A COMPREHENSIBLE INSTALLATION MANUAL?
Thanks for this informative video. Another parameter which one might want to change is B083 (carrier frequency). The default value (2 KHz) allows for maximum power, but in my case caused the motor to have an annoying hum. Raising this value to about 10 KHz allows for a quieter/smoother running system if you have the system sized so that it's not maxed out on your motor.
Okay, you are truly ignorant of VFD operation. But Hitachi isn't helping either. Anyone wanting a VFD installed needs to volunteer some information: Motor needs variable frequency? Or fixed at 60 or 50 Hz? Or fixed at some other frequency? Or is frequency controlled by sensors and automation? Is there a need for bidirectional operation? Controlled by machine operator or automation? And when the VFD programming is perfect and complete, WRITE IT DOWN.
Does anyone have insight on the Analog Output functions? Specifically C028 = 02, Inverter Output Torque. The PDF manual section 4-90 only mentions 0-10VDC range, but does not specify units or scale.
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have a WJ200-015SJ, per section 1-4 this is rated at 8.0A at CT (which was the default value in parameter B012). I changed this to correspond to my motor nameplate (6.0A). Does this change the scaling of the analog output accordingly? I assume what the drive is actually doing is reading Volts and Amps and trying to correspond that power draw to motor output torque? Also, what are the units for Output Torque? (N-m I would assume being a Japanese drive, but maybe its Ft-lbs or ?)
I have the same device on the solar energy, if the frequency of the constant control manual only, how the method of making the frequency is automatic so that if the electricity goes down the device decreases frequency and does not stop the device and thank you

You need a unit that matches your input/output parameters. For example. I have 120V power input in single phase. To run a 3 phase motor in 220V I selected a VFD that matches this requirement in the specifications.
Usually you start with the motor name plate values, VOLTS, Hertz, RPM etc. Then set your MAX and MIN speed, then ACCEL/DECEL. This should get you in the ball park so to speak. What kind of application is it?
This would be a lot more useful and easier to follow if you were to first give some kind of clue as to how the keypad operates. The manual does this very poorly as well. I've been struggeling for hours trying to figure out just how to change other parameters. There seems to be no logic to the keys.

The scale is based on the amp rating of the drive.

The output Frequency of the WJ200 is regulated based on speed command input to the drive, you just set it to what you need.
