I watched a lot of Holst's concerts on youtube. Those conducted by Mr. Litton are the best. He really understood this music: the tempo, power and tenderness of some moments are amazing. My virtual standing ovations to the conductor, orchestra and the video production team.
I'm very impressed with the sound recording.....well done to whoever that recorded it. Its not easy to get a sound mix. Keep up the great work. Oh, I think you should get a pay rise. Show this comment to your Boss. :)))
This performance speaks volumes. It says that our beloved SSO is truly world class. Excellent rendition of Holst, comparable to the best performances anywhere else in the world. Thanks SSO. :)
The power, poignancy and shimmering lyricism made this a magical performance. I didn't want to come back to earth when it finished.Thank you, Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
I absolutely love how he just stares down the low brass section while pointing his fist at them towards the end of "Mars." There is no question what the conductor wants from them. This is an amazing performance of one of my all time favorite symphonies.
Recall my first audio cassette was Holst: The Planets plus the Star Wars theme. Now I’ve many copies of the Holst classic and it’s always uplifting to listen to. With this let’s praise all the hard working health workers who are saving lives, making those ill more comfortable on their road to recovery whilst working themselves to the bone. World wide they are the hero’s of 2020
Sometimes during Mars and Uranus, the conductor looked like you wouldn't like to meet him in a bad mood down a dark alley! Particularly that punch when the main theme of Mars came back! A most enjoyable performance!
I am a young person listening to this for school, and the face he made in Uranus made my day. But this music is beautiful, and I loved making my art assignments about this.
An amazing performance by the SSO. The tempo of each movements are perfect. So much sensitivity to Holst's score in my humble opinion. From the forceful opening till the very end of the suite there is a unique dialogue between the SSO and the conductor. Bravo!
Amazing Bravo SSO bravo to everyone.. love this. really phenomenal work and such cohesion the instruments just gel with each other, in space! SSO at it best with Andrew Litton and guest artistes
My first time to watch the full performance rather than close my eyes and just listen. The conductor is just amazing! He is like the General of the troop, marching among the planets. Bravo!
I often wonder if Holst got his inpiration for "Uranus the magician" from Dukas' "Sorcerers Aprentice". Hearing both I can not help but see those mencing mops and Mickey trying in vain to stop them. Anyway, this was a great perfomance of "the Planets". Kudos to all invlvoved in this stunning production.
What did our ancestors who left Africa in the Land of Cradle, think of the glitter of the stars in the infinite night sky? I can just picture them looking up at the night sky Since then, the stars shining in the infinite night sky have never ceased to attract the interest of mankind
Just wish the Drums were clearer at 40:40 like this version: th-cam.com/video/Isic2Z2e2xs/w-d-xo.html Ends up sounding more washed/muffled out than something bombastic, powerful, aggressive, and almost Military like. I just wish this part was more Aggressive and sharper for this recording. Sound Quality for this video is very good, but every planets recording I always check Uranus since a lot of recordings get it wrong. Will listen to the full recording, since I only checked out this and Mars so far.
Thank you for watching tonight! We would love to hear from you - it would mean so much if you could take this survey. We'll pick 5 winners to win $50 vouchers each! www.surveymonkey.com/r/X6FWBF9
The more I listen to Mars the more I think the tenor tuba part should really be played on a baritone rather than a euphonium (the narrower bore agrees better with high parts; it's certainly nimbler).
In the final movement, Holst calls for an off-stage women's chorus to sing a wordless line. So the ladies of our Chorus were singing, unseen, from backstage. This creates a faraway sound for "Neptune, The Mystic".
The two dislikes are from people who live on Pluto
Inspired by your comment, there came the third plutonian.
Ayo we barely got any service out here the least yall could do is include us in the suite💀

What an act of generosity from Maestro Litton, to offer his tissue to a sneezing audience member :)
I mean this is just a masterpiece performance from beginning to end. How beautiful is Neptune? This is best performance of The Planets.
This is a masterpiece for earthling

The Singapore Symphony Orchestra dedicates this concert to all healthcare workers in Singapore - thank you for your care in these trying times!
They are faithful to their oaths

I will never get tired of listening to The Planets. Thanks so much for making it available for all of us to enjoy. ❤️
This concert reminds me of SNYO which played similar theme last year. Love Jupiter the most🤗
❤️
Well this comment feed is lively good!
Comfort of this masterpiece is off the charts
Holst i a modern Alchemist of the universe, generates impression and comfort and surprise and admiration
The camera work and performance of this piece is amazing!
The beauty and wonderfulness of the planets is immeasurable, and unfathomable, and beyond description

Mr. Litton and company save the best for last. Neptune was by far the closest knit and best sounding of them all.
This is comfortable to the ear, to the mind, and to the soul
I just love how the cameramen focus on the instruments that are playing and makes them look just so majestic.
The cuts and camera work are phenomenal! Of course the performance as well:)
I love this conductor's energy!!! He about had me ready to go to war for him!!!
オーマンデイ指揮フィラデルフィア管弦楽団の演奏を聴くような感動です。DVDで欲しいくらいの感動です。日本にも来て演奏してください。
A very fine performance, tremendous sound.
I was there that day, and watched this performance live. Absolutely breathtaking

The mrt has an ad with an QR code saying “enjoy a FREE ONLINE CONCERT during your journey”
Loved Holst as a Classical composer even before visiting a Planetariam at School.
My first time to watch the full performance rather than close my eyes and just listen. The conductor is just amazing! He is like the General of the troop, marching among the planets. Bravo!
The audience reaction brought tears to my eyes. I wish Chicago Symphony audiences could be bothered to show that kind of appreciation.
I love venus:)
I hope that Indonesia have this performance too with local orchestra,
Bravo sso🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Планеты Холста, с русским дирежером Евгением Светлановым, одни из лучших !!!!

Always looking forward to the 3 min mark of Jupiter 🙃
The video recording is brilliant.
I see where John Williams got his musical training from....GH has inspired a generation or more of film composers, from the Planets.
Never seen Andrew conduct. I love this guy! And I´m a conductor myself and quite picky. Great performance!
What a great concert thank you Singapore Symphony !!!
Wow wow, I want to see this played live
Truly excellent
What a beautiful performance with good recording, hope to watch your live performance soon
Wonderful - I love this symphony and have listened to it for many years in different versions. This version is performed very well! Thank you!
What a beautiful piece, thank you for uploading this
Wonderful as always ......
WOW!!! I love Gustav Holst - The Planets, and Andrew Litton and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra truly mastered it so beautifully! Thank you!
It sounds so much like the Gladiator soundtrack. I see where Hans Zimmer got his inspiration.
Hans Zimmer is a hack. His music is worthless and sounds like royalty-free crap you can buy on audiojungle.
And John Williams for Star Wars and Superman. It sounds like John Williams would have consumed this like a staple diet back in his days of youth
I loved how they played Mercury 😍 portrayed the messenger and the playful trickster very well 😄
At the very beginning, I thought the applauses were to the rythm of Mars!
Just wonderful! Thank you so much.
Awesome. Thank you.
One of the best version I’ve heard! Good job SSO!
Extraordinary and Magnificent Performance of this great masterpiece, Powerful !!!
They really brought the emotion out of this music.

Great performance! Love every bit of it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Impressive SSO❤️❤️❤️
I like this conductor. Of all the presentations of this I've watched, his motions and rhythm actually match.
23:37 There are no words...
You are right. The only word that comes to mind is sublime. And that isn’t enough.
真佩服指挥家的那双腿啊,站一个小时真不疼吗?
Needs more timpani shots!!!!

Ah Singapore! Interesting place but why is everyone called Iain?
this is starwars music
Jupiter is the most beautiful to me tbh, but I enjoyed the whole piece nonetheless

This md looks like a heart attack BTW I played for the Hallie Manchester
The more I listen to Mars the more I think the tenor tuba part should really be played on a baritone rather than a euphonium (the narrower bore agrees better with high parts; it's certainly nimbler).
Where were the singers, in the last movement? Was that a recording, or something?
In the final movement, Holst calls for an off-stage women's chorus to sing a wordless line. So the ladies of our Chorus were singing, unseen, from backstage. This creates a faraway sound for "Neptune, The Mystic".
This really was something special and certainly the best performance of this work I've ever heard.
