Can’t say how impressed I was with this house to even best the Lannister in wealth. Show they had lots influence the fact that spice town was never rebuilt show how the dance of dragons war really hurt there wealth.
For House Targaryen🐉🐉🐉🐲🐲 I love how the show has shown the Valyrions & the sea snake I forget the name of the actor that plays him but his performance has been stellar! “Our worth isn’t given it must be made!”
*Valyrians* are the people who are from Valyria. *Velaryons* are a non-dragonlord Valyrian family that escaped the Doom along with the Targaryens and Celtigars.
I've been a bit obsessed with house Velaryon for quite a long time and have always wondered why they never tried to restore High Tide. It was greatly damaged but not fully destroyed right? I could be misremembering, but it would seem like a strong fortress left to ruin when it could become the shining jewel of the Tidelords once more. I'd also love to learn more about Castle Driftmark itself since we know so little about it. I feel like the damp and flooding issue could be remedied with a little TLC could it not? If not for High Tide then their original castle could also be great since it's in the middle of every single major city on Driftmark, making it the central power and more easily able to control the populace whilst High Tide is out of sight in a way.
I think a lot of the reason as to why they never restored High Tide comes down to real world reason rather than lore. When writing fire and blood and the world book, George had to transition house velaryon from this great power to their position in the main books. While Alyn did a lot to repair the house, he still could only manage a fraction of what the sea snake did in terms of voyages and wealth. I believe if Alyn had lived longer he may have rebuilt the house enough to rebuild high tide.
I wonder what plans Martin has for Aurane Waters? He only appears in a few scenes in the books, but it seems he plans on either a Valyrian restoration by aiding Daenerys, or he's just another sell sail who will be forgotten about soon enough and whose actioned will be added to the list of the disasters Cersei made as Queen Regent. It isn't inconceivable that he could be working for Varys or the Golden Company either. I hope Martin doesn't leave it ambiguous.
The fact that Spice Town and High Tide were never rebuilt in full seems like such a wasted opportunity. Surely, other Lords of the Tides would've preferred to start trade routes back up in a manner that would've allowed for greater prosperity in Blackwater Bay and the Narrow Sea beyond.
Corlys valeryon rebelled Against his lawful king and he sided with the usurper princess so he payed the price He lost his castle and wealth His port was destroyed His wife died💀 His bastard son also died 💀
The Dance really did destroy this island’s power & economic structure. The Dance killed and diminished tons of great Houses 😢😪. The Strongs and the Velaryons are the most notable for their Falls after this war.

Velaryon should be called the Sea dragon of Driftmark
That makes no sense. The Velaryons were not a Dragonlord family.
@@browniebear think about true they never was Dragonlord but few there members are dragons raider there origins stills in Old Valyrian
@@FireCat34 We know of 2 Velaryons that were Dragonriders but the family has existed for various centuries...
My original comment still stands true.
