60 dollars is what it costs now, but when it first came out it was 70, and most games cost about 70 dollars now compared to 60 bucks before the pandemic hit.
Even worse is that people who bought the premium edition or bought kombat pack 1 are going to end up spending $30 more overall then people who only bought the standard edition and will get the khaos reigns bundle for an additional $10. NRS and WB aren’t even trying to pretend they care.

I think this DLC is NRS attempt to play hardball with the consumers…People buying characters al la carte doesn’t help their bottom line so they doubled down on the guest characters to justify them forcing you to buy the whole thing and raising the price…50 dollars is WILD . Tom; with as boring as gameplay is..... It's not worth $50. Not to mention the fact that the guest characters Are Not exciting at all. I'm 52 & I know what all the characters represent & I dont care. NRS just took the laziest route & used things they already had in their vault. Arnold's face, T1000 voice etc. A new offline mode would have been a better bet..... But I'm sure they'll make millions & NRS will keep being lame.
The only guest character I really liked was spawn and I would love to see him return. I’m also thinking about giving this game. Another chance I dropped off a month or so back but I want to play it competitively and I’m such a diehard MK fan. It’s hard to quit on MK but gosh, this one is such a disappointment.

The price is too much in my opinion. The expansion probably won't be that long, around five to eight hours if that. You could probably complete the expansion in one day. You're only getting three characters at launch, two of which are gender swapped and not the real character, with three DLC guest characters, none of which are available at launch.
I love Mortal Kombat, but I didn't buy this game. If you are disappointed with how NRS is handling the future of this game, you should not buy this kp2. If you do.. you should probably expect to pay for the characters, skins, and their SPECIAL MOVES in the next game. They're gonna keep pushing it until you push back! Vote with your dollar.

You guys are misinformed on this one... The Khaos Reigns expansion for $50 includes 2 things: the story add-on, and KP2 (6 playable characters). What they specifically said was, is that you can NOT purchase KP2 separately... as in, you cant buy JUST KP2 for like $30 or $40 or something, WITHOUT the story expansion... you HAVE to get BOTH, if you want the "package deal." Otherwise, the individual characters from KP2 will most definitely be available a la carte, AFTER the early-access period (for the people who DID purchase the whole expansion pack for $50...) Then, any patch update AND the Animality pack will be free to all, regardless of any purchase of the Khaos Reigns expansion pack. Hope this helps!

Just wanted to say I really appreciate this channel and it's passion/honesty about modern MK. I've been a fan of MK for most of my life, but these last few releases have seriously left a bad taste in my mouth (and it seems to only get worse). 50 bucks for a series of glorified, non interactable cutscenes, only 3 actual MK characters (with lady cybers being questionable as "characters") and 3 random guest characters that arguably shouldn't even be in this game, is pretty ridiculous to me. This is on top of the fact that we had to pay 70-110 bucks for the base game plus random skins and past dlc which included characters like Shang, Ermac, and Quan chi which SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN THE GAME. Without even getting into the terrible story and paper thin gameplay, I'm honestly surprised people still defend this game when it's a clear money grab and waste of time. So many other things NRS could've done with this series (Shaolin Monks 2 anyone?) but its gotten to the point where its no longer about the games or the story, and thats pretty sad
It's confusing to me. I agree with Tom about the payment model not making sense. If you're gonna put soany guest characters to appeal to people that aren't necessarily MK fans, it makes zero sense to force them to buy all the characters at once and the guest characters don't even come out until months later, because it loses the casual appeal. If someone would have been interested to play as Conan because of nostalgia, they're far less likely to do so if it's gonna cost basically as much as an entire game for a bunch of characters they don't want. And it also doesn't appeal to the invested fans much since there are only 3 MK characters and, any opinions on gender swapping aside, the reality is, if you change a character too much, for a lot of people, it doesn't have the attachment they had that would have made them want to buy that character anymore. Like Janet Cage cannot replace Johnny Cage because they are not actually interchangeable, so for some people, they effectively announced a DLC with 1 MK character that holds any nostalgic weight. It doesn't make sense to me tbh. If they wanted female characters, they could easily have used any of the already established female characters people already care about and I think half the roster being guests is too much if you can't purchase individually.
Ed boon said they are working on a another new engine thats a upgrade from mk1's engine. Based on that i think we expect amother 4 years till another game is released. Maybe 3 cause covid was also a reason for delay during the making of mk1. But atleast this time we maybe get more content then we got for mk11

That's not true, he said whenever they start working on a new game the engine they are going to be building it is going to be whatever is the latest UE. Mk1 is built off UE4, Current newest UE is 5. UE6 is set to release around 2030. Hope this helps.

Unless they confirmed it somewhere else, the expansion trailer only said that KP2 won’t be sold separately from the story expansion and it was not stated that individual characters would not be sold separately. That would be a pretty questionable business practice.

The only thing i like about the second kombat pack is Noob and Conan. I don't like that Cyrax and Sector are women now, but even more I don't like that it's another MCU rip-off and they are no longer robots, but Ironheart or whatever. It's very stupid. I watched Scream and T2 as a kid (and i love that movie) but honestly Ghostface and T1000 feel like very odd choices, like they just ran out of ideas. The whole approach of having 3 characters now and 3 later and no kameos feels like the end of mk1 support which I wouldn't be surprised. When i started playing mk deception, armageddon, and 9, i probably spent more than 1000 hours playing those games trying to learn it, and my cousin was the one helping me learn, and never was able to beat him or to even get near his level. I thought he was an amazing player. Now looking back, he was actually a very bad player compared to the actual decent ones. Now that in actually good at the game, i got my friend into mk1(his first ever mortal kombat game), it took him 5 months to get to elder god with raiden kano, and 6 months to get to elder god with lui kang lao(which he learned a month before). The power in this game is nothing, learning this game is the easiest thing a person will ever do. I still cant believe my eyes when people still call for nerfs for characters. Johnny was nerfed on 6 SEPERATE OCCASIONS, peacemaker was nerfed on 3 and he wasnt even out for 3 months at the time. U want to blame someone for the downfall of this game, blame the players
This Game was made for Sonic Fox and all the Sodomites, the game is in an ok spot for now with this new patch, but it's gon get nerfed again when Sonic Fox discovers things other players can beat him with. Brownback is gonna make sure it's done, that's why I don't like this game because Battyboys are having too much say in this game.

My issue isn’t the pricing, it’s what we’re getting with it considering how the game released. A story expansion, new stages, animalities, and 6 characters (3 on release). That’s content? How many times are you playing through the story? Like really how many times? Give me something to do, give me different game modes. If Capcom charged 50 dollars I’d understand, look at how much there is to do in SF6. I cannot speak for Tekken 8 because I haven’t played it yet. But NRS charging that with MK1 in its current state is not worth it.

Tom makes good points talking about the characters power levels feeling low. It’s fun when all the characters feel good in their own way. I like the variety the kameo system brings especially to people who only play 1 character.
I wholeheartedly disagree with Tom. Mk cost like 70 bucks, 22 characters, dozen cameos, dozen maps, 8hrs story, invasions, online. Dlc is 20 bucks less but is a quarter of the kast, no cameos, 4 5 hours of story, and you get it in pieces. NRS is asking for a fuckin loan on dlc for nearly the price of a whole game. Insult to injury half the pack isn't even related to mk. This should have been 30 MAYBE 40 and given up front, not in installments
Have you ever been able to preorder individual characters? Don’t they always sell the Kombat pack first, and then the characters are sold individually as they come out?
What NRS needs to do in this midway point up until the expansion drops is add extra strings and those extra special moves to characters that we saw in Invasions as well as add a few legacy moves to all characters. Reiko's spear twirl and throw and his counter-clockwise kick from MK4, Reptile's ground crawl😂, Ashrah's OG flying drill stab from Deception, Havik's head roll and OG self inflicted leg break projectile from Deception, etc.

In my opinion any player will be happy to have the option to get hands on new characters. Personally I want to try em all. Maybe unexpectedly Conan will fit my playstyle, even if am not interestedin him. If they sell all the content in the pack "a la carte". It would be a nightmare if we have to pay separately to get a stage, a skin, a character.. I think it's good as a pack.

Here are a few reasons (without calling mk1 terrible or dead) people have criticized MK1 - Player 1 advantage at launch (recently fixed) - Constant lag and desync issues online - No cross-play (only recently added) - Lack of online training - Poor matchmaking options for ranked - Non-existent matchmaking options for KOTH and player matches - Lack of single player modes (tower, story, or invasions) - Poor balancing between fighters and kameos - Lack of customization options - too many micro transactions for cosmetics and skins Lastly, donkt know why you’re bringing up GTA 6. But I'm sure they'll make millions & NRS will keep being lame.
The only guest character I really liked was spawn and I would love to see him return. I’m also thinking about giving this game. Another chance I dropped off a month or so back but I want to play it competitively and I’m such a diehard MK fan. It’s hard to quit on MK but gosh, this one is such a disappointment.

The price is too much in my opinion. The expansion probably won't be that long, around five to eight hours if that. You could probably complete the expansion in one day. You're only getting three characters at launch, two of which are gender swapped and not the real character, with three DLC guest characters, none of which are available at launch.

I love Mortal Kombat, but I didn't buy this game. If you are disappointed with how NRS is handling the future of this game, you should not buy this kp2. The Khaos Reigns expansion for $50 includes 2 things: the story add-on, and KP2 (6 playable characters).
What they specifically said was, is that you can NOT purchase KP2 separately... as in, you cant buy JUST KP2 for like $30 or $40 or something, WITHOUT the story expansion... you HAVE to get BOTH, if you want the "package deal." Otherwise, the individual characters from KP2 will most definitely be available a la carte, AFTER the early-access period (for the people who DID purchase the whole expansion pack for $50...)
Then, any patch update AND the Animality pack will be free to all, regardless of any purchase of the Khaos Reigns expansion pack.

Just wanted to say I really appreciate this channel and it's passion/honesty about modern MK. I've been a fan of MK for most of my life, but these last few releases have seriously left a bad taste in my mouth (and it seems to only get worse). 50 bucks for a series of glorified, non interactable cutscenes, only 3 actual MK characters (with lady cybers being questionable as "characters") and 3 random guest characters that arguably shouldn't even be in this game, is pretty ridiculous to me. This is on top of the fact that we had to pay 70-110 bucks for the base game plus random skins and past dlc which included characters like Shang, Ermac, and Quan chi which SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN THE GAME. Without even getting into the terrible story and paper thin gameplay, I'm honestly surprised people still defend this game when it's a clear money grab and waste of time. So many other things NRS could've done with this series (Shaolin Monks 2 anyone?) but its gotten to the point where its no longer about the games or the story, and thats pretty sad
It's confusing to me. I agree with Tom about the payment model not making sense. If you're gonna put soany guest characters to appeal to people that aren't necessarily MK fans, it makes zero sense to force them to buy all the characters at once and the guest characters don't even come out until months later, because it loses the casual appeal. If someone would have been interested to play as Conan because of nostalgia, they're far less likely to do so if it's gonna cost basically as much as an entire game for a bunch of characters they don't want. And it also doesn't appeal to the invested fans much since there are only 3 MK characters and, any opinions on gender swapping aside, the reality is, if you change a character too much, for a lot of people, it doesn't have the attachment they had that would have made them want to buy that character anymore. Like Janet Cage cannot replace Johnny Cage because they are not actually interchangeable, so for some people, they effectively announced a DLC with 1 MK character that holds any nostalgic weight.
It doesn't make sense to me tbh. If they wanted female characters, they could easily have used any of the already established female characters people already care about and I think half the roster being guests is too much if you can't purchase individually.
Ed boon said they are working on a another new engine thats a upgrade from mk1's engine. Based on that i think we expect amother 4 years till another game is released. Maybe 3 cause covid was also a reason for delay during the making of mk1. But atleast this time we maybe get more content then we got for mk11

That's not true, he said whenever they start working on a new game the engine they are going to be building it is going to be whatever is the latest UE. Mk1 is built off UE4, Current newest UE is 5. UE6 is set to release around 2030. Hope this helps.

When i started playing mk deception, armageddon, and 9, i probably spent more than 1000 hours playing those games trying to learn it, and my cousin was the one helping me learn, and never was able to beat him or to even get near his level. I thought he was an amazing player. Now looking back, he was actually a very bad player compared to the actual decent ones. Now that in actually good at the game, i got my friend into mk1(his first ever mortal kombat game), it took him 5 months to get to elder god with raiden kano, and 6 months to get to elder god with lui kang lao(which he learned a month before). The power in this game is nothing, learning this game is the easiest thing a person will ever do. I still cant believe my eyes when people still call for nerfs for characters. Johnny was nerfed on 6 SEPERATE OCCASIONS, peacemaker was nerfed on 3 and he wasnt even out for 3 months at the time. U want to blame someone for the downfall of this game, blame the players
This Game was made for Sonic Fox and all the Sodomites, the game is in an ok spot for now with this new patch, but it's gon get nerfed again when Sonic Fox discovers things other players can beat him with. Brownback is gonna make sure it's done, that's why I don't like this game because Battyboys are having too much say in this game.

Dlc is 20 bucks less but is a quarter of the kast, no cameos, 4 5 hours of story, and you get it in pieces. NRS is asking for a fuckin loan on dlc for nearly the price of a whole game. Insult to injury half the pack isn't even related to mk. This should have been 30 MAYBE 40 and given up front, not in installments

What NRS needs to do in this midway point up until the expansion drops is add extra strings and those extra special moves to characters that we saw in Invasions as well as add a few legacy moves to all characters. Reiko's spear twirl and throw and his counter-clockwise kick from MK4, Reptile's ground crawl😂, Ashrah's OG flying drill stab from Deception, Havik's head roll and OG self inflicted leg break projectile from Deception, etc.

There is a question in my mind last days. Would have I swith from mk11 to this game if it was not mk. Completely the same unfinished broken assist fighting game as it released but new unknown universe and new unknown characters. Would have you guys?
In my opinion any player will be happy to have the option to get hands on new characters. Personally I want to try em all. Maybe unexpectedly Conan will fit my playstyle, even if am not interestedin him. If they sell all the content in the pack "a la carte". It would be a nightmare if we have to pay separately to get a stage, a skin, a character.. I think it's good as a pack.

@@straightcaniven906yeah nice straw-man arguments. Not everyone who criticizes MK1 has said the game is “terrible” or “dead”. SonicFox isn’t some end all be all authority on everything MK. Also, SonicFox themselves has criticized MK1 a few times on social media, as well as many other NRS players.
Here are a few reasons (without calling mk1 terrible or dead) people have criticized MK1
- Player 1 advantage at launch (recently fixed)
- Constant lag and desync issues online
- No cross-play (only recently added)
- Lack of online training
- Poor matchmaking options for ranked
- Non-existent matchmaking options for KOTH and player matches
- Lack of single player modes (tower, story, or invasions)
- Poor balancing between fighters and kameos
- Lack of customization options
- too many micro transactions for cosmetics and skins
Lastly, donkt know why you’re bringing up GTA 6. That’s a different game produced by a different company.

Let's see FGC has the poorest prize pools, the community is the most impoverished out of all games, FGC streamers make the least money out of all types of streaming, yet WB decides to price the game like this:
Premium edition $110 + tax
Classic ninja skins: $5 each. Ermac, sub, reptile, smoke alone = $20. Not to mention the $10 MKA sub skin.
$50 for the shit DLC with it's corny story. Where players only want Noob.
To make matters worse I purchased the premium edition for my brother and 2 friends pre-order before launch. So I'm down 4 copies because nobody plays this game, everyone hates it.
Everyone should boycott this DLC. It's more trash than this game.
