This game was so ahead of its time that it still looks better than most games today.
It can't be ahead of its time, since it's a downgraded, smaller version of Battlefield 2. The backlash to the downgrades of the series in Bf3 was so intense that DICE shut down their forums and wiped all the content on them. Bf3 might have decent graphics, but the gameplay and map-sizes were scaled back in a big way from Bf2's.

Guys did you play bf2? It's the best bf ever made with the squad system and all this aproach to a realisim combat and communication. That's why the community took this battlefield to make Project Reality check it out if you dont know that game.
Battlefield 3 was definitely a cash-grab. It was hated by the Battlefield community on its release for being extremely downgraded from Battlefield 2. DICE marketed the game as returning to PC gaming in a big way, but it was anything but, as it was clearly severely compromised in design in order to tailor the game towards the console markets. It's a watered-down Battlefield. The backlash against DICE over Battlefield 3 was so strong that they permanently shut-down their online forums and wiped all the content from them. The forum pages were filled with walls of criticism and analysis of how Bf3 is inferior to and smaller than Bf2 in about every way.

Bf3 still has a live and great playerbase, u can literally find any server with whatever map you want and still have loads of players in it

Battlefield 3 is still the best game ever. I got the thrills in every match, so much fun and excitement all the time.

I never heard of the battlefield series, at the time I was in high school and all the hype was for mw3. Christmas was coming up and my mom asked me what I wanted while we were at the mall. I was going to say mw3 but they were sold out, instead they had a few copies of bf3 left so I went with it instead. I walked into that game blind but was so worth it, all the summer nights playing and the friends I made along the way (I was invited to one of their weddings but didn’t go cuz of school and work) best memories from my adolescence.

@@floki7164 well for some reason when i search for servers i only get like 3-10 servers with people and they always tend to be conquest with too many tickets (lives) and only on the base maps (no dlc).
My favorite game mode is Rush and I can never find any servers for rush. But if you're okay with conquest or gungame and only a few servers available i recommend the game. Also campaign is awesome . Lemme know if you have any more questions

TheHardWay71 BF1 and BFV are disappointing installments. DICE needs to revert to either modern day warfare or a slightly more progressive timeframe. Maybe a decade or so after 2020. Nothing too crazy like where COD is now though. Reiterating WW1 and WW2 isn’t helping anything anymore.
It is night and day. I will still be buying BFV but they dropped the ball so far in how they presented the game so far. They still have time to pick up the fumble and score ...at least in getting the excitement UP for there game.

I'm afraid that even if they release a Battlefield in a modern setting, the hype won't be as real and you won't have the same experience. This is because, firstly the game isn't competitive and the market has shifted to competitive games. In addition to this, Battlefield 1 was for most people disappointing, and Dice are making games for financial gain and not player experience.
Remember suppression effects and tac lights that did their job.

@@npne1253 Might be true for servers you played on. I had 6-7 ppl to play BF3 with every day and we got quite a community on our server that was pretty damn good in teamwork. They used the chat, but it worked pretty damn well.

I've watched this video several times in the last few months to help build my hype for the next title in the series. You absolutely nailed what made the BF3 launch so special and I was really hopeful Battlefield 2021 could try and come close.
I'm sad to report at this time, the marketing team has not learnt shit from BFV and struggle to build hype like they once did.

Before 2011 I was heavy on watching TH-cam since I didn’t have a console. I was always watching video game videos to keep up to date on games. On Christmas 2011 my mom got me the new Xbox 360 slim, with BF3 back to Karkand edition. On that morning I hooked it up to the big tv and instantly started playing the campaign. I will never forget the amazing feeling of the game it presented. BF3 is my absolute favorite battlefield to this day!! Amazing times! It deserves more recognition and deserves a remaster. Incredible game!

Not even close. That would be Battlefield 2. Bf3 was a massive downgrade from Bf2 and DICE received so much criticism for it that they completely shut down their forums and wiped all the posted content on it because it was just page after page of people angry and disappointed at how consolized, smaller, and reduce DICE had made the game. It was a major step down from Battlefield 2.

I'm not joking at all. Of course not. Battlefield 2 is a much more detailed, tactical, and enjoyable Battlefield, with much larger maps, more kits, more vehicles, and more expansive team and squad controls. And Battlefield 4 does everything Bf3 does and far more, and even has 80% of the Bf3 maps that are still played - and has a large player base available to play them with.
Battlefield 3 is a heavily consolized and casualized Battlefield. Battlefield 2 is a pure PC-oriented Battlefield game and is the most detailed Battlefield game that's been made so far. That's why even today Battlefield 2's daily player count is more than 3x Battlefield 3's.

in early 2011 i was 17 years old working at Mc Donalds and on construction sites with my buddy, putting cash aside so as to build my 1st gaming computer. I hadn't had a chance to have a gaming system since the PS2 a decade ago and between Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and my growing interest in computers it was the first personal project requiring some money and forethought and i nailed it that computer was a beast and the following years have my greatest gaming memories, both BF3 and Skyrim left their mark on my life.
watching this again after seeing the 2042 trailer it almost feels like someone at DICE watched this video and realized how well they stuck it with BF3 marketing. 2042's marketing is mirroring this perfectly.

Battlefield lost sight of itself, the same way that Call of Duty did. Neither are what they once were, and the drastic changes shown in BFV and BO4, accompanied by the massive successes of Fortnite, Overwatch, and PUBG just prove that even more profoundly. Granted, Battlefield is in a better state than COD, but that isn’t saying much.
This was and still are the best FPS shooter till date! In my opinion! Imagine if Battlefield 6 its the better version of BF3 ... just made to continue the story ...but in 2020 tech and huge improvements!

I'll never forget the first time I jumped from Damavand Peak's third rush base.
I remember standing at the edge for about 2 minutes my first time. When everyone started jumping off, I thought it was just some massive server suicide.
Then, some guy kept hopping around apparently indicating I was supposed to jump. Man, headphones on full volume and the best looking game I had at the time... The jump seemed real lol

Battlefield 3 is certainly the masterpiece of Dice. After BF3 came BF4 wich was also very good but lacked the perfect game- and gunplay of BF3. What came after BF4 isn't worthy called a Battlefield (Battlefront).

I remember setting the language to Russian in the multiplayer to make it more immersive 😂 My favourite campaign missions included the ‘Rock and a Hard Place’ where you start fighting the Russian Paratroopers. I also like the Tank mission Thunder Run, and the ‘Night Shift’ mission.

I am here in 2021 when there is info the next modern bf6 will be revealed in June and i just redownloaded bf3 on the pc for the first time(played on console at the time) BF3 just changed my life and is w/o doubt the best fps multiplayer i ever played. Lets hope Bf6 will carry part of the flame Bf3 ignited.

DeTooR94 by making a CoD spinoff? Yeah, the settings may be back at their roots but the gameplay has progressed from a slower paced standoff to an assault class rally sprinting around with SMGs. Don't even try to make a comeback, since that's exactly what BF1 turned into for most the maps

Battlefield 1 did flop. It sold like 15 million copies, but had the shortest player-retention rate of any Battlefield game. Simply put, people didn't like Battlefield 1. And Battlefield 1 wasn't going back to DICE's roots, because DICE's roots include more classes, bigger maps, and all the detail and complexity of Bf2, which isn't present in Bf1.

Seeing this again really brings back some beautiful memories. So much nostalgia, I remember all of this. It’s through BF3 that I discovered JF on TH-cam. Ever since then, I’ve been watching your videos. Let’s hope the Next Battlefield is a return to form for the series.

There was something about the Battlefield 3 soundtrack that just makes me love it even more. Some of the best gaming moments I had came from BF3, regardless of its rough start.

Battlefield 3 was my personal favorite game to ever play on console just ahead of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (by Pandemic). Those memories will forever stick
I clearly remember when i was 17-18 and i would just watch hours and hours of battlefield gameplays in 360p and save every extra penny i had to build a gaming PC so that i could play this game. Fast forward to 7 years and i am about to preorder BF 2042.

Hawkeye 47 can we acknowledge how good Bf3 looks even now? Even just visually.
Jeremyah Streams'n'stuff Everytime i played BF3 I truly felt immeresed in the game, from the sound, gun fire, the soldiers screaming crazy quotes while getting shot at, it just really made you feel like an american or Russian soldier
Hawkeye 47 I agree, it was the best overall. My only gripe was the suppression.
BF3 had the best maps, the best weapons, the best gunplay, and the best DLCs. I understand BF4 had a lot of fun features but for me it always felt like it was missing _something_ in those areas. I lost interest in it quickly, but if I had held onto it I'm sure the new maps and 4th generation consoles would have redeemed it.

This game was art. A true immersive rush of sights, sounds, art, music, visuals, and so on. It was such an incredible, immersive experience to play. THIS is when DICE was firing on all cylinders and they took design and gameplay very seriously.

It doesn't sound like you played the Battlefield 3 that I and most of the other Battlefield fans that criticized Bf3 on DICE's forums played. Actually, the response to Bf3 was that it was a total letdown, a heavily consolized and compromised Battlefield, and not worth the pre-release hype. That's why DICE closed their online forums that the dev team regularly posted at - to stop the intense criticism of Battlefield 3.
The last truly amazing game that DICE made is Battlefield 2 - and actually a Canadian developer that had made the Desert Combat mod for Bf 1942 contributed a lot to Battlefield 2. Battlefield 3 was so gutted compared to Battlefield 2 that it created massive backlash from the Battlefield community.

I wanted to write this before i got done with the video. Growing up i didnt have a lot of games and my dad had bf1942. I played it a ton but i was so young when i had played it i forgot about the series all together. Fly through CoDs golden years. 2011, Im hanging out with a buddy of mine after summer break when i see him playing the beta. I was blown away by a game that was so open and everything on the ps3. I went home and put probably 40 hours into the beta(i cant remember). All i know is i couldnt afford games so i picked up bf3 and loved it at the beginning of 2013 when bf4 was announced. That game still sends chills down my spine and i really hope the next game can do the same.
I was reminiscing about bf3 days and I hoped to see some video like this I didn't know what I wanted to see but you read my mind and made the perfect video about it!
Still play BF3 on PC in 2019.
Plus with new pcs it runs easily in ultra.
You guys just need to DL and join us, it's easy to find servers with enough players.

I was deploying to Afghanistan when this came out and I made sure to get myself a pair of the Oakley flyer gloves because your soldier had them in this game. I thought they looked super cool in all honesty and wanted my one “cool guy” piece of gear for the sandbox

BF3 was the reason I became a PC gamer. I remember seeing that first gameplay trailer and saying to myself out loud "I have to play this game on PC"
